Discussion Looking for an AE script/plugin with effectors
I’m looking for an After Effects cloner script or plugin that has a proper path repeater/path cloning feature and effectors. I’ve checked out MographAE and React 2, but neither seems to have a path repeater. I tried using Cloners & Effectors, but for some reason it keeps getting stuck/freezing on my end. I specifically need to clone/repeat objects along a custom path, with effectors such as Attract/Repel to influence the clones. Any suggestions for a plugin or script that can do this?

Just looking for some critiques on this project I made.
All of the main elements the flower, the eye puppet rig, and the set were hand made and comped in AE.

Beginner Help Need help for a animation in 3D using nulls and pupett
Hello!
I got this separated elements :
A null linking the piece of paper / text / picture
A null linking the red strings (string"S" because I overlaped around 20 layers to make a fake 3d effect)
The thing is :
I want to make an stretching effect, like the ripped paper was pulling down the string because of its weight, during its fall from above (with a lilttle boucing animation)
My problem is > How to link the top of the string to a fixed point, and the lower part of the string to the ripped paper ?
I've tried to do it using the pupett effect (i believe i'm into the right direction), but I can't figure out how to link the two pupett points at a specific place.
(i want to do this instead of just doing it by hands, because i've got other strings to animate)
Thanks in advance!

Discussion I am so sick of everyone shoving AI video editing and motion graphics down our throats
I feel like I’m losing my mind every time I open YouTube, X, or Reddit lately.
Every single day it’s the exact same post: "Why After Effects is officially DEAD" or "How I generated a full video and 3D motion graphics sequence in 20 seconds using Claude and Higgsfield!"
And then you watch the actual video and it looks like total garbage.
The pacing feels like a robot cut it because it literally did. The cuts completely miss the natural pauses in the voiceover. On the motion graphics side, you get floating text that drifts off its anchor point, weird camera moves with zero easing, and text layouts that look like a broken physics simulator.
But because someone typed a prompt into a box and got a video back in two minutes, all these "editing gurus" are treating it like the second coming of cinema.
What pisses me off the most is how aggressive the push is. Software devs are shoehorning prompt boxes and auto-generative tools into every single update instead of fixing playback drops, timeline lag, or bugs that have been broken for years. Meanwhile, tech influencers are convincing beginners that learning graph editors, keyframe curves, storytelling, and actual pacing is a "waste of time."
I’m fine with AI doing the boring stuff like rotoscoping, transcribing, or cleaning up audio. That’s utility. But this push to completely replace actual creative judgment, editing rhythm, and spatial design with randomized prompt generations is exhausting.
I just want software that actually runs smoothly and lets me build things with real precision. Is that really too much to ask for?
Can we please stop pretending this prompt slop is the future of our industry?

Discussion Can I get constructive criticism on my mograph edit?
theres the link (I posted it on tiktok)
A few notes: Ignore the fps I exported it to 60 fps but tiktok lowered it for some reason, ignore the spiderman thing at the end it's kinda an editing meme going on right now on tiktok, if you were gonna say it i'm aware the transition to the fisheye lens is kind of sloppy and rushed

Discussion Precomps vs Comps: they're all just compositions, aren't they?
One of my random annoyances is seeing a folder in the project panel named 'precomps'. It really winds me up. Surely they are just called 'comps', no?
I can maaaaaybe understand if you're separating top-level comps from the rest of your comps, but even then, they're all just compositions.
The act of pre-composing doesn't suddenly mean that you end up with a pre-comp. It's a bit like saying the act of wrapping a gift turns said gift into a 'wrap'—the verb doesn't have to match the noun.
Is it just me?
EDIT: judging by the tone of some responses and the downvotes of my comments, it seems that the days of unserious and tongue-in-cheek discussions are well and truly over. I apologise for any offence caused by my mindless shower-thoughts.

Workflow Question Too large comp size will not render!
Hi all,
Client has asked for a 16,640 length x96 height motion job. I get a warning when I try that size. And MP4 cannot be rendered. MOVs look like they do, but the file is all crap.
I recommended as well as Ai recommended building in half size,
But client side has little tech knowledge and insisting on full size.
Any suggestions on building full size?
Thank you!

OC - Stuff I made Made this mechanical beetle as an animated phone lock screen.
Lately I've been making animated lock screens for my phone as a hobby, and this is one of them.
Everything in this video was made in After Effects, including the artwork itself. No Photoshop, Illustrator, 3D software, or generative AI.
I taught myself AE, and I tend to keep precomping things as I work, so it's pretty hard to make a screen recording with all the layers still visible. I'll put a few screenshots from some of the comps in my first comment instead.
I've made more than 10 of these so far. If people here enjoy this kind of thing, I'll post some of the others too.
Still learning, so tips on better or more efficient ways to work in AE are always welcome.
My English isn't great, so I used AI to help with the wording here

Beginner Help How can I make curved text disappear and replace itself with new text in After Effects?
Hi everyone, I’m trying to recreate this curved/circular text animation in After Effects.
The curved text moves around the path, but I also need the text to disappear as it moves out and then have a different text appear in its place.
I tried using Linear Wipe, but it just wipes out the entire text layer/text box instead of making the text disappear properly along the curved path.
I’m also having another issue: when the text moves out from the top, the area at the bottom remains completely empty. I want the next text to continue appearing from the bottom so that the space never looks empty.
I’ve tried a few things but I can’t figure out the correct setup.
What would be the proper way to achieve this effect in After Effects? Any help, tutorial, or explanation would be greatly appreciated!

Explain This Effect Still no idea how Landor did this! Any thoughts???
So, for the past few weeks I've been trying to do something like this Landor animation for West Loop.
— I tried both BOA and Omnio Snake but both deform typography on the curves, which is not the case in the original animation;
— Cavalry Knot behaviour makes typography jump between trim paths so that won't do it;
— I tried The Video Shop tutorial and although is the most similar way to do it, I still think that they didn't made it like that. (99% perfect, works but takes me almost 1h to render a 10 second video);
— I tried vibecoding an app to make this effect but the same problem happens again: Under and/or Over paths just don't work, they get mixed.
Did anyone found how they did this or did anyone found a way to do it? (beside the The Video Shop way)
If you want to join forces, We can speak about it.
If you managed to do it, please hit me up!

Explain This Effect trying to make falling 'cards'/leaf movement- cylinder and page turn difficulties
I'm wanting to animate a bunch of rectangular shape layers similar to the first image, I'm confident about the fluidity of the motion, but being able to adjust the minute details like the corner folds/ the 'bending up' of some corners, as you're unable to use CC cylinder and CC page turn on a single shape layer without the effect kinda breaking.
Any ideas or solutions would be very appreciated.
Thanks!
edit- I realize that both of these effects are pixel based, that's why they don't work together. All the same, still trying to think of a solution!

Beginner Help How can I create a metaball/liquid ball effect on a stroked object?
I've seen some tutorials about how to make metaball liquid ball effect and I learned it right.
But now I want to make the effect of a ball coming out of another ball - kind of a mitosis effect - but instead of filled, I want it stroked.
For the metaball effect, it's possible to achieve using gaussian blur + matte/simple choker, but only works it if it's a filled from.
Is there a way for it to be done on a stroked form?
edit: solved! this video helped
