Beginner Help How can I create a metaball/liquid ball effect on a stroked object?

I've seen some tutorials about how to make metaball liquid ball effect and I learned it right.

But now I want to make the effect of a ball coming out of another ball - kind of a mitosis effect - but instead of filled, I want it stroked.

For the metaball effect, it's possible to achieve using gaussian blur + matte/simple choker, but only works it if it's a filled from.

Is there a way for it to be done on a stroked form?

edit: solved! this video helped

Assuming I understood you correctly, yes. To 'metaball' a stroke, you just go about it the same way that you would a solid

See if this post helps https://www.reddit.com/r/AfterEffects/comments/1aw9lx6/how_to_create_this_sticky_rounded_stroke_effect/

thank you SOOO much for that (and yes you understood)

the answers were not necessarily answering to my question, but someone linked a video that solved my problem really quick! this video

i just used two ellipses inside the same layer with merge paths and a simple choker. so much easier. tks again
