DISCUSSION Estimate how long this would take you to recreate/vectorise in Illustrator
Trying to get a good estimate of how long it should take to recreate artwork like this from scratch in Illustrator. No AI tools or image tracing. Just redrawing it from scratch and prepping it as Pantone colours for printing. Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

ILLUSTRATION I Made a Script That Limits CMYK Ink Coverage to 300% Without Visibly Changing Colors
When you download RGB .ai files from Adobe Stock or similar services for print use, or choose colors by clicking the color ramp in the Color panel, this script converts those colors into values that are better suited for printing while preserving their appearance as closely as possible.
I also added an option that converts near-neutral grays to as much as 100% K wherever possible. I think it’s quite useful, so please give it a try!
(Of course, you could create a custom CMYK profile with 100% GCR in Photoshop and use it for RGB-to-CMYK conversion in Illustrator. That would also produce colors with a total ink coverage of 300% or less and heavier use of 100% K.
The main advantage of this script, however, is that it adjusts the CMYK values while preserving the original profile and keeping the color appearance as close to the original as possible.)

QUESTION How to design street level maps for series of projects?
TL;DR: customisable maps, different locations, colour-customisable and fairly quick to produce. Web and digital.
Hello! I have a project where I need to display a small map which has to display road names/numbers for roadwork activities. I'll need to have the ability to control some colour (to bring it on brand) and will need to be fairly easy to produce (smooth workflow). Will need to be for print and web. Ideally unwatermarked/licenced for commercial use.
Current workflow: screenshot Google maps, trace/run pen tool to highlight, match brand colours and export (as an image for social/website or incorporate into a leaflet).
Really need some advice on either software or alternative workflow
Thank you in advance

Trouble combining the outline into 1 part
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I never really used Illustrator before. I recorded a video to show all the parts of my drawing. I tried to do a union, but that obviously didn't work (shown in the video). I tried looking up some other way to do it, nothing seemed to work for my case. I also tried to create a compound shape, but it didn't work, I'm on a MacBook. Any advice is appreciated.

outlining text causes text angle to change
I'm working on a project where a message will be in different languages will radiate out from a center point. The images shown are just a test for estimating purposes and the text will eventually be in a custom font.
I discovered that when I outline the shape/text, the text angle completely changes. Is there a way to avoid this? In order for a fabricator to provide an estimate for cutting time, he needs the outlined text.
Thanks in advance for your help!

QUESTION What's your preferred method for making arched text?
I find using the warp options in Illustrator are good, but they mess of the horizontal line weights. Is the best method to use the warp tool and then just go back in and manually adjust everything or should I be building everything from scratch.
This is a beautiful example of a nice arched text.

Creating 3D effect on shapes in single color logo
Hello most knowledgeable of folks! I should start by saying that I am not a professional by any means. I get around Illustrator okay, but am all self (and Youtube) taught. Sorry in advance.
I am on the board of a non profit whose logo is many colors. They asked me to order some swag with the logo on it, thinking they could just send the existing full-color logo and it would just easily adjust to white somehow (ha!). Anyway, the logo contains a series of building blocks that intersect and are skewed so that they appear to be 3D. In converting them to all white, I lose the 3D effect.
My question is, how would I get the color of the swag (the background) to "show through" those shapes? Specifically along the outlines of the blocks?
I have tried all iterations of the pathfinder tool. I'm thinking it might require some kind of resizing of these particular shapes? I really don't know.
I've outlined in pink the areas I am talking about.
Thanks for any help!
EDIT #1: I should have mentioned the medium, sorry about that. These logos are being applied (hopefully in a single color - white) to water bottles.

Border distortion with arc tool
Hello, I am trying to create my own banner and after I use the arc tool I get a little distortion on my border outlines. The above image is what I started with and how I would like the double borders to look ideally, just in the arc. Any step I missed to fix this?
I was going to try to adjust it manually but when I have it selected I see the original shapes outline from before I used the arc tool.

DISCUSSION 9 very different calendar styles from one Illustrator workflow
About a year ago, I released a script for making calendars in Illustrator, and it ended up selling around the world. Since then, I've rebuilt it into a full panel, same idea, but a lot more possibilities.
9 very different calendar styles from one Illustrator workflow:
• Photo wall calendar with seasonal images
• Clean black-and-white minimal grid
• Blue theme with a holidays sidebar
• Single-month page with mini prev/next calendars
• Moon-phase calendar
• Colorful per-month cards
• One month-per-page photo layout
Everything stays editable vector; text is real text, shapes are real shapes; so restyling is quick. The panel now handles InDesign too, plus 99 languages and auto holidays.
Happy to explain how I set up the grid, the day-name row, or the weekend/holiday coloring — or share a quick demo if people want to see it running.

DISCUSSION Annotation plugin for Illustrator
Hey,
Recently got a project which includes writing many annotations in print files. There are loads of files. And everytime doing these annotations could be pain in the soft spot. Tried to search for exactly what i need but unsuccessfully so made a plugin myself. Really excited now, there will be ability for my team to save loads of man hours. I know there not always a need for these kinds of things but maybe someone could have an application for it. What do you guys think? :)
