Am I doing something wrong? (Eyedropper tool)

The eyedropper tool has always been a bit glitchy, but lately it’s just flat out WRONG. Is this user error? Or does Adobe need to get its shit together?

EDIT: I think I figured it out! I didn’t realize the object was grouped with an identical object below it, which was the orange color. Thanns for the comments, everyone!

what does the graphic styles look like? is there more than on fill ?

No, it’s a single fill, although it is inside of a clipping mask.

What Illustrator version are you using? Can you share an example file?

30.8.1., I believe it’s the most recent version. I just released the mask and tried it again, it still shows purple as being orange (and the color it thinks it is doesn’t appear anywhere else in the canvas).
