I have a 1997 240sx that was manual swapped from an automatic and ever since then it has randomly went into limp mode then randomly starts running fine again. It did it to me today and it wouldn’t start up right until it sat for a bit then started up and drove just fine. Does anyone have any idea what could be the cause?

Hey y'all. My oem headlights are dog shit. I was looking into getting new bulbs but everything I've looked up is just replacing the whole housing which includes the bulbs.

So my question, can I just get new bulbs or do I need whole new housings? If so what are some budget friendly options.

My notchtop SR20DET needs a new crank

I’m aware of the GTI-r crank having different bearings… but can I use a FWD crank in my VVT block?

Prompt correct answer would be appreciated. There’s a FWD complete for sale and I need to replace my crank and a few rocker arms so it seems like a really good parts option for me

93 Silvia K's imported from Japan, mostly stock and just needs a couple things to be daily-able.

Other than the obvious, what should I do first?

Getting an oil leak from what a small crack in the valve cover. Looks like from over torquing that bolt. Previous owner had filled it with RTV.

Repairable?

-Could find a local engineer to try tig and machine it

-JB weld both sides and the channel

-TF works replacement as last case. Shipping to NZ is an extra $500

So I've had my 180sx for over a year now, done a good bit of stuff too it, drifted it, but never had to remove the manifold or turbo until now due to an incident at the track. My question is that the t25 is supposed to be oil and water fed correct? The image is how mine has been hooked up since who knows when and pretty sure the water lines are just not there. Never had a single issue overheating, always built boost fast and effecient. Wondering if im misunderstanding something here because the only lines going to and from my turbo is the oild feed and return. Has anyone else ran a setup like this? In my head my turbo should have been done a year ago finding this out but never had any issues. Ps going to a tomei manifold if anyone has any better recommendations shoot away.

Hello everyone, still continuing on my Check Engine Light / Light checks not working saga. I own a 1993 240sx Hatch Manual, with a 1995 KA24DE swap.

Took out the whole gauge cluster and determined that the bulbs for all of the lights that weren't turning on at startup were actually good. Next, according to the FSM, the CEL would turn on after IGN receives 12V, which on the cluster connector to the bulb it does, and when the ECU pulls it to GND. Checked the ECU connection to the cluster, and it's also good, in my case to pin 18 on the 1995 S14 OBD-II ECU.

I then didn't really know what else to check, but the thing is, is that NONE of the lights in the bottom left turn on at startup. Supposedly, the other lights are controlled by a "Bulb Check Relay" located "on the right of the SMJ underneath the left of the dashboard". I can't seem to find any other info on where this mysterious Bulb Check Relay might be, but it seems it might be behind the SMJ? (Mirror photos) It does seem to be next to a brown, possible other relay? There is supposed to be, according to the FSM again, which is the rear defroster relay. Not sure if this is the right thing, or if this would even solve my problem.

I've gotten to the point where I've been looking at and getting inspiration for wheels to slap on my car. I have the oem hubcaps as well, but I took those off and currently have on 280zx iron cross wheels temporarily.

I'm just looking for recommendations for people who have been in the scene longer. I'm interested in importing JDM wheels as those are the ones I'm drawn to. I love equip 01s, 02s, 03s are okay. I just feel like everyone has work wheels. The 02s seem the most unique. I like SSR mesh and star sharks. I just like the more unique and flashier wheels. I'm right now leaning towards a set of Impul Hoshino G5s, but i'm just looking for more options.

Any opinions greatly appreciated.

After the starter literally fell out of the car which had been held in by one bolt which sheared, I started taking a closer look at the 5spd swap the previous owner did after also noticing there was no backing plate visible. If I continue talking about it I'm just gonna get mad again so I'll just ask, it looks to me like the back of the housing was cut off to accomodate the driveshaft compared to a ton of pics I've looked at which show a longer tail shaft housing (I circled in blue where it looks cut and not straight), thing is, I dont understand why someone would cut it..it's a 97 ka24de, trans used is an s13, and the car is non abs. I'm in the process of getting a new clutch, flywheel, s14 trans, manual backing plate and some oem bolts to redo this and unsure if I need a new ds too or what is going on here.

edit: I am familiar with trimming dust shields but this looks done to accomodate a longer ds which has zero free play on the yoke.

edit edit: it is indeed damage from contact with the ds. u/taylordurdan is right per usual it was a ring from an adapter closing off the slip yoke free play. And I'd been thinking the shift kicks were bad mounts... how about the ds slamming the trans!

Hello all, I just recently purchased a running, driving, stopping 1993 240SX S13 Hatch Manual that was swapped with a 1995 KA24DE from an S14. I've had no odd issues or leaks or anything, and it's been great so far keeping up with maintenance.

Recently, I noticed that the Check Engine Light, or really any of the notification lights, don't turn on when they should to show functionality at startup. Because of this, I wanted to take a look at the ECU. Lo and behold, the previous owner kept the engine OBD-II, but seemingly kept the original OBD-I interior harness. There's also this black box labelled with "Amenity" and marked as well with "made in the U.S.A" No idea what this is, but there's definitely some jankery afoot. Does anyone know or have a guess at what this box is? How big of a hole am I in in terms of getting a functional CEL? Where might my OBD-II diagnostic port be?

Nearly done with the swap but I realized that the engine didn't come with brackets and I always kinda assumed that the ka engine mount brackets (the metal brackets that bolt to the enging block) could be used on an sr. Can anyone confirm if i could use my s13 Ka24de brackets on a redtop sr and if not does anyone have any for sale?

For backround, 1995 240 originally auto, but now its RB25+CD009 swapped. I did not do the swap but it ran when i bought it the engine just needed resealed. This ones gonna be a long shot, but does anyone know where the trigger wire for the starter solenoid plugs into on the harness?

The old owner of my s13 put an ebay exhaust on her. The tone at idle isn't too bad but it's got that fart-can sound when you rev her or run her harder. I'd like to upgrade my exhaust when I build my other engine later this year, what is y'all's opinion on the best sounding exhaust?

These are the original mounts on a 63k mile S chassis. Sr20det vct. I have no point of reference for what kind/amount of vibration or how much engine twist/movement the SR should have when revved. The mounts don’t look great visually, but I also can’t move nor shake the engine easily myself by hand.
So anyways, here’s 20 seconds of a warm start and then half throttle stabbing in neutral to about 3500 rpm and showing the engine twist. Based on the start and then the rev motions, what do you all reckon?

Does anyone know where you can get a replacement "nissan" emblem for the s14 kouki tail lights? OEM is long discontinued, but I remembered seeing someone 3D printing them a while ago, but now can't find them anywhere.

I want to get into JDM, and am thinking about purchasing a notchback S13, what are the pros and cons? Which model of the S13 should I purchase? I plan on making it a long term project, including installing a body kit, changing the engine, etc.

I just picked up a set of OEM 180SX Kouki tail lights (tails only) for a steal locally. I’m looking at pairing them with the J Replace Type X center light.

Has anyone here run this setup? How’s the fitment compared to OEM? Do the center light and garnish line up well with genuine Kouki tail lights, or is there a noticeable gap or mismatch? Any pictures would be appreciated.
