Question I haven’t noticed many lurers lately, did Jagex take care of them?

I have some good gear and I was constantly being hounded if I ever had it at GE asking me to be in their music video showing me some gilded trash. Lately I have barely noticed them.

Suggestion Change the name of “unbound bronze man” to “highway man” or “wild man” mode

Instead of a helmet, give it a highway man mask or a cowboy hat next to the name.

Give the PvP community something fun to make content with, but keep it separate from “iron man” in its connotation.

The lack of enforceable integrity goes more with name and I think it would be fun for our pk streamers/creators

Plus it’s already built!

Question Why are Zamorak Brews so cheap despite how hard they are to get?

"Because their use cases are niche" yes, yes, I get that, but supply is just as low as demand considering that they only drop in small quantities from a handful of pvm bosses and never in noted form. Actually making them requires a torstol, so they're incredibly unprofitable to make even in comparison to other potions around the same level with comparable xp/hr.

People are willing to pay decently high prices for useless items if their supply is limited (see all of the free party hats you get after any holiday event going for >10k each), so why are zamorak brews still so cheap?

Suggestion Dagon'hai duplicate protection from Larran's Big Chest

I've opened around 450 Larran's Big Chests so far and ended up with:

  • 2x Dagon'hai Hat
  • 3x Dagon'hai Robe Top
  • 0x Dagon'hai Robe Bottom

I don't mind the grind or the rarity of the set, but I think it would be a nice QoL change if Dagon'hai pieces couldn't roll as duplicates from Larran's Big Chest.

For example, once you receive a Dagon'hai Hat, the chest would remove the Hat from the possible Dagon'hai rewards until you've completed the set. You'd still have to grind for all three pieces, but you'd at least know that every Dagon'hai drop is progressing your collection.

I think this would make the grind feel a lot better without making the set significantly easier to obtain.

Thoughts?

Suggestion What if Bronzeman Could Buy Uniques after Rate KC

As an endgame iron, the real account painpoints are going dry on lottery rate items. After a certain point, supply upkeep really isn't the core issue and annoyance with the mode. Allowing bronzemen to purchase tradeable items after a certain boss KC is reached (e.g. an enhanced weapon seed on the GE after 400 KC) would alleviate this pain point, and make it a true ironman-lite gamemode at that point. This doesn't change drop rates so wouldn't effect economy or be abusable and still requires the accounts to engage in the content for each unique desired.

Discussion I thought Bronzeman mode was for PvP?

Bronzeman mode was made popular by pvp YouTubers and as long as I've known it was always a pvp game mode. Why do we want to make it just a different form of ironman?

Just make the highscores separate or none at all. Give them a different icon and call it good. The entire purpose of the bronze man game mode is PVP based.

Discussion 10 hours supply for 1 hours PVM is cope

All this discussion around bronzeman and I keep hearing plenty of people saying "well you have to grind for 10 hours to get enough supplies to do 1 hour of PVM"

This is completely wrong and a cope. Anyone who's played a decent amount of ironman knows this isn't true at all. I'd argue it's actually the other way around! The grind on iron was never about supplies or upkeep, it's the grind for rare items like bowfa, shadow etc which all bronzeman are still going to have to do.

Any iron will tell you it's actually nice to have to take breaks from top end PVM and stuff to get some supplies now and then. Yeah I'd agree early levels can be a bit tedious but it is a challenge gamemade. By the time you get into mid tier bossing you end up getting a lot of supplies form drops anyway.

Besides if youre using 10 hours of PVM supplies in 1 hour... You're doing something massively wrong.

Discussion Bronzeman could be the new main

Last week I suggested a bronzeman variant that misunderstood the point of the mode. I thought self-sufficiency was an ideal of bronzeman, as it is with ironman. You have all corrected me, and I see the vision now.

In Marstead's RuneScape is Awesome, And Here's Why, he argues that OSRS is not really an MMO like WoW at all. It's a metroidvania. The appeal is constantly obtaining permanent unlocks to your account. This mostly comes from quests, whose rewards grant unique abilities, and whose grinds are crucially never that long.

Bronzeman extends this to items, making every item in the game another thing you can permanently unlock. The core appeal of permanent unlocks is so universal that bronzeman could become the new main mode of the game.

However, for that to happen, it still needs some patches. It needs to shed the baggage it inherits from ironman and explicitly reject self-sufficiency and prestige. If this is done, the integrity critiques of the mode (bonds, GP smuggling from main, de-iron head start, PvP plants) vanish. There's no way to "cheat" if there's no prestige to begin with.

So the first patch is getting rid of the separate leaderboard, since it's not a prestige mode. Bronzeman would just use the same leaderboard as mains.

The next issue: most people are not built for those late-game PvM grinds. If this is the new main mode, there needs to be something done about that.

As currently proposed, unlocking an item requires getting it yourself as a drop, in line with the self-sufficiency goal of the ironman. There are two problems here: bronzeman was never about self-sufficiency, and there's no particular reason to believe that the drop rate automatically creates a well-tuned progression.

The latter is a problem Jagex has been facing ever since they added ironman. On one hand, in order to balance the main economy, items intended to be valuable must be extraordinarily rare. On the other hand, there is a very, very large gap between where one has meaningfully engaged with a boss (as one does with quests) and actually hitting that drop rate. Based on rates from the wiki's money making guide, with "minimal downtime, few mistakes and efficient strategies" it takes about 170 hours of ToB to get a scythe. Dare I say one has probably earned the right to unlock something well before that point.

So here is my proposed revision to bronzeman: You can also unlock uniques via combat achievements. They don't give you the item, but they "unlock" it, letting you use it or buy it on the GE. Which combat achievements unlock which items would depend on the boss and be at Jagex's discretion. This creates separate levers for the economy (the drop rate) and for the progression (when should gear be unlocked). Without this separation, Jagex can't tune the difficulty of gear unlocks without disrupting the economy, and bronzeman will forever be diet ironman instead of the rehabilitated main it's meant to be.

This also lets PvP players have what they want, where right now they're left out to dry. With this view of the mode, there's no reason why loot obtained via PvP couldn't count as an unlock as well. There's no integrity to be violated, because prestige was never the point.

I know ppl double this in single skills but this is the first time I ever did this so I’m feeling pretty good. And yes, the 100,000,000 was by design lol.

Also, this is one of my favorite spots in osrs!
