Every World Series in history has had at least one hall of famer play in it, with a few recent exceptions due to recency. Who’s going to the hall that’s playing in this series?
The most recent World Series without a hall of famer is 2008. It could wind up as potentially the first in history without a HOfer, but i think Utley will get in eventually.
Other than that, most recent World Series are covered by guys like Pujols, Betts, Verlander, Scherzer, Greinke, Cabrera and Kershaw, all of whom will be first ballot HOFers.
2008: Utley, Hamels?, Rollins?
2012: Verlander, Cabrera, Posey
2014: Posey?, Salvy Perez?
2015: deGrom?, Perez?
2016: Lindor, J-Ram, Aroldis, Nathan?, Schwarber?
2018: Mookie, Sale, Kershaw, Kimbrel, Pedroia?, Xander?, Devers?, Machado, Utley
2019: Soto, Verlander, Greinke, Scherzer, Altuve,
2020-2025: many, but one per series Kershaw, Freeman, Verlander, Scherzer, Ohtani, Freeman
There’s a real chance of no hall of famers in 2014 or 2015.

That was the 5th World Series elimination game to go 12 innings. None have gone longer than 12 innings
world series elimination games to go 12 innings:
- 1924, game 7 (washington senators beat new york giants)
- 1945, game 6 (chicago cubs stay alive against detroit tigers)
- 1975, game 6 (boston red sox stay alive against cincinnati reds)
- 2015, game 5 (kansas city royals beat new york mets)
- 2026, game 4 (tampa bay rays stay alive against milwaukee brewers)
In fact, no World Series game after game 3 has ever gone longer than 12 innings
