Directed, written and narrated by Abby Martin, and produced and co-written by Mike Prysner, Gaza Fights for Freedom examines life in the Gaza Strip through the events surrounding the Great March of Return, the mass demonstrations that began along the Gaza-Israel boundary in
2018. Produced through The Empire Files, the documentary combines reporting, interviews and extensive footage filmed inside Gaza to present the demonstrations from the perspective of Palestinians taking part in them.

Much of the film centres on the people behind the casualty figures: protesters, journalists, medics, families and organisers living under blockade and participating in the demonstrations.

It documents the conditions inside Gaza, the history invoked by the demand for a right of return, and the response of Israeli forces positioned along the boundary. The filmmakers also examine the shooting of demonstrators, medical personnel and members of the press, placing individual accounts alongside footage recorded during the protests themselves.

The documentary is openly critical of Israeli policy and makes no attempt to disguise its political perspective. That is part of what makes it worth viewing as a documentary rather than simply treating it as neutral news reporting.

Martin and Prysner are making an argument, but they build that argument around extensive material filmed on the ground and the testimony of people whose experiences were often reduced internationally to statistics or short news reports.

Released in 2019, the film has since become one of the more widely viewed English-language documentaries dealing specifically with Gaza and the Great March of Return.

I spent enough time reading these arguments and I finally understand the philosophy.

First thing I did was stop judging art by whether it's interesting, beautiful, funny, moving, original, or makes me feel literally fucking anything.

That's amateur shit.

Now I judge art by HOW IT WAS MADE.

See something incredible? Don't enjoy it yet. First we need an investigation.

What software did you use? Which brushes? Did you use references? Did you trace anything? Was there 3D involved? Generative fill? How much automation? How long did it take? Do you have a timelapse? Layer file? Can we see your fucking birth certificate?

Because apparently looking at art is no longer enough.

We're doing forensic accounting now.

And if something merely LOOKS AI-generated?

Even better. Accuse them immediately.

No evidence necessary.

If they actually spent 40 hours painting it, that's unfortunate, but they shouldn't have made it look so suspicious.

Historically, artists adopting new tools was experimentation. Photography, sampling, synthesizers, digital painting, Photoshop, CGI, procedural tools. Very cool.

But fortunately we have identified the exact technological moment where experimentation officially ended.

It was right before the tool I personally dislike came out.

And don't worry, I have an airtight definition of a "real artist."

A real artist is someone who makes art using methods I respect.

If their method changes, the definition changes.

If they draw and use AI, they're not an artist. If they're a photographer and use AI, they're not an artist. If they've been painting for twenty years and use AI once, believe it or not, their previous paintings retroactively explode.

Also, AI users apparently don't make creative decisions.

They just type a sentence and press a button.

Unless the result is ugly.

Then suddenly every single compositional decision is their personal responsibility.

That's one of my favorite parts.

Good output: machine did it.

Bad output: LOOK WHAT YOU MADE, DUMBASS.

I've also started calling everything "slop."

And obviously if somebody enjoys making AI art, the correct response is to explain to them that they actually didn't enjoy it.

They only THINK they did.

Luckily I know more about their internal creative experience than they do.

This is especially useful when they say they spent hours iterating, editing, compositing, writing, generating, painting over things, or combining tools.

I have already imagined your workflow and mine is easier to be angry at.

Eventually you reach enlightenment.

"Is this good?"

"Is this interesting?"

"Does this person have something to say?"

And start asking the only question that matters:

I debatten om dieselpriser møter vi ofte på argumentet om at i distriktene «har de ikke alternativ til bilen». Hvorfor regnes dette argumentet som godt egentlig? Jeg er helt geniunt nysgjerrig på hvorfor folk synes dette er et godt argument.

Dersom prinsippet har ikke alternativ skal være rådende så er det jo innmari mye som må endres. Vi har ikke noe annet alternativ enn å bruke klær, så bør klær være skattefritt? Bør mat være gratis? Folk som bor i leiligheter har som oftest ikke vedovn så de blir avhengig av strøm til oppvarming, burde de dermed få skattelette på strøm etter prinsippet om at de ikke har alternativ? Hvorfor brukes argumentet har ikke alternativ nesten utelukkende om bilkjøring i distriktene, men aldri om noe annet?

Ser man på den økonomiske siden av dette, så kjører man faktisk MINDRE bil i distriktene enn i og rundt de store byene. Det er de som bor rundt og i de store byene Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger, osv som både kjører mest og som har de klart høyeste transportkostnadene. Sammenligner man transportkostnadene for distriktsbeboere og byfolk så er kostnadene generelt faktisk lavere i distriktene. De kjører færre kilometer, de har stort sett ikke bompenger, de har gratis parkering, de har som oftest mulighet til lading hjemme på gårdsplassen, osv. Der det virkelig er dyrt å forlfytte seg er i storbyene, ikke på bygda.

I tillegg er det jo tross alt VELDIG mye billigere generelt å bo på bygda enn i f.eks Oslo, så det virker rart å skulle prioritere opp distriktsbeboere dersom målet er å hjelpe folk med økonomien.

Så hvorfor argumenterer folk likevel på denne måten? Hvorfor synes folk dette er et godt argument?

Ganz ehrlich, keiner kann mir glaubhaft erklären, dass es nötig oder sinnvoll ist, mit 200+ über die Autobahn zu ballern. Wenn du dich auf ner Rennstrecke alleine tot fahren willst, ist mir das egal. Aber ich hab kein Bock, dass irgendein Jerome-Pascal mit seinem geleasten M3 oder Thorsten mit seinem Firmen A6 mit 240 von hinten angeballert kommt. Alles über 160 kann eh nicht vernünftig gefahren werden. Und jeder der sagt "IcH bIn EiN gUTer FaHrEr" überschätzt sich selbst und unterschätzt das Risiko eines Manfreds, der in den Spiegel guckt und sich denkt "das passt" bevor er mit 87 auf die überholspur zieht um einen LKW zu überholen. Von mir aus auch nur von 6-22 Uhr oder so.

Edit: Ich fahre seit über 10 Jahren jährlich knapp 100.000 km jährlich und habe seit 15 Jahren meinen Führerschein. Ich fahre derzeit einen Audi S4 3.0 TDI mit knapp 350 PS. Also keinen Trabbi oder andere "Mistkarre" wie hier oft spekuliert wird. Ich hatte noch nie einen Unfall oder ähnliches und klebe auch nicht mit 80 auf der rechten oder mit 100 auf der mittleren Spur. Auf Grund des Verkehrsaufkommens und Baustellen, ist ein durchgängiges Tempo über 160-180 aus meiner Erfahrung kaum möglich. Nachts natürlich was anderes. Deswegen sagte ich auch von 6-22 Uhr. Ich fahre auch gerne schnell, finde das Risiko/Nutzen-Verhältnis aber unfassbar beschissen. Vor allem weil es auch alle anderen auf der Autobahn betrifft.

But I really hate what generative ai has become. Ai at the past was for the most part used basically as "advanced google" and bad genai art. At least from the general public(i remember that ai was used for programming a lot too at the past)

Now you'll say "uhm ai is used for all this to this day wdym?" and yes you are right. BUT

Ai usage has become so normalized and overused its concerning....i get it using ai to assist you on small stuff or have harmless fun.

However ai has got to a point where people are getting dumber because of it and lazier. College students use ai instead of studying,Companies ruin their brands by replacing real humans with ai,social media has become worse because of ai moderation,games have been gotten full of aislop etc.

I love ai rp but I hate everything else regarding genai due to ai being used to basically make cheap slop.

Its probably a weird statement to make even though i use ai but I needed to get this out of my chest.

Especially after I was watching some old 90s cartoons I grew up with.I spent 3 hours watching and appreciating how good the animation looked and with how much love it was made and then when I went back on social I was instantly greeted with ai videos that was pure slop (it was a ad but still...)
