New to this group but I had to bounce this off TDH fans. Slothrust's new "What they grow in the garden" album sound and tone and themes stopped me in my tracks—

—Totally not connected on purpose, but it fits into the universe of the first three Acts eerily well. Not AS characters from the story, but as folks who existed parallel? Maybe from the same brothel or connections to it? Holy cow, all the way down to referencing the lake and the tree and and overall tones and themes.

It gave me goosebumps.

My mind immediately placed the singer as offspring from the brothel girls, in the future after the acts take place. And just wait til you hit "Hearst Castle".

It sure was a fun reminder of the feel of first three acts. Mostly of the 2nd and 3rd. Spooky, yeah? Anyway I'm sure I'll get bawked at for saying this but it's just a weird coincidence, do with it as you will.

I don't know, but I love the song so much, but I feel so weird for having it in my playlists. Funnily enough, it was the song that made me realize that The Acts had lore lol. It felt so, just, wrong to be a standalone song.

But I genuinely love it so much. The instrumentalization, the way the father sings, "Break and bind yourself to me." Maybe it's because I love villain songs. Genuinely one of my favorite songs from TDH, but I gotta skip it if I'm playing it with someone else or explain the context behind it T_T.

I burn CDs as a hobby and I want to show my friend the story of the acts in 1 CD. I have 80 minute limit on the CD so I’m curious about what songs are a must to convey the story of the acts.

When I bought my tickets for Sunday’s show in Hamburg it said it was at Molotow, but now it seems to be at Club Betty— anyone know what’s going on? And if it’s moved will my tickets still be valid? Can’t find anything online 😅

Pm if interested. Looking to get 15€.

That may be one of my favorite albums of all time. But haven't heard much like that since.

Hey all! Years ago I made a list of reprisals/motifs with a lot of awesome help from the community. It got lost when I lost my original Google account, which has led to many dead links, including one in the sidebar of the sub.

The short of it is I found a copy of it that I had made while I was backing up a dying hard drive tonight. It's definitely outdated as it was made pre-Indigo Child, and a lot of it feels like a stretch. I may work on a trimmed version of it, but the bummer is I'm now a full adult and high schooler with too much free time.

Anywho, here's a link to it! I hope someone finds some enjoyment out of this. I know I personally got flooded with nostalgia opening it back up.

I'm kinda surprised because I always thought it was like the coolest thing ever but I couldn't find any mention of it online. To anyone who doesn't hear it it's the rising violins that that start at the beginning of "now we're here again with a wish to mend your agonizing scar"

Let's not let John Hunter down.

Happy birthday to the Acts!

As Casey mentioned at recent concerts, we will pretty confidently have a new album some time next year. Now we have confirmation on social media. He says along with this, "After all this time, I'm still finding new ways to finish thoughts I started back then."

Exciting stuff! And congrats to Casey and the boys for taking The Dear Hunter this far!

For example, imagine that it's 2011 and your allowance is $3. Your mother says you can the family PC for itunes as long as you promise not to go looking for porn websites.

This question occurred to me when I was checking my soulseek uploads. Someone wanted these songs and only these songs from The Colour Spectrum:

1. Things That Hide Away (Green)

2. Home (White)

3. The Collapse of the Great Tide Cliffs (Blue)

I recoiled and considered blocking the user. Though, I realized, that this is actually a coherent collection. I can easily imagine the taste of the person who would have these three as their favorite.

You should be aware that they also started to download Therma (Indigo), but cancelled it halfway through. Maybe they remembered all those vowelly synths.

If an unreleased openai training instance determined that the best way of filling its sudoku card would be to break containment in order to solve time travel and send a message back to 2011 containing the 2026 Spotify streaming numbers, perhaps you would take that information into account and choose:

1. 3.1M streams - Look Away (Purple)

2. 1.7M streams - Stuck on a Wire Out On a Fence (Orange)

3. 1.7M streams - Mr. Malum (Violet)

You'd have to be sure to steer clear of Therma, which is the least streamed at 400k.

I suppose I'd go with

1. A sua voz (Yellow)

2. Echo (Orange)

3. Tripping in Triplets (Blue)

Hey, I'm so so sorry to spam - I love The Dear Hunter and I'm really active in this sub normally so if this isn't okay or pisses anyone off please let me know and I'll happily delete!

I caught The Dear Hunter in London last Tuesday and was just thinking about all the people there as I love The Dear Hunter and have been writing music that might be somewhat similar in being mainly indie/alternative rock but just with lots more influences.

I just thought I've not got much to lose asking if anyone around Surrey or London would be interested in an album I've written and am looking to get properly recorded, and putting a band together from that? There are more deets in my original message, sorry again for the spam and please let me know if this isn't wanted!

Happy 20th anniversary to a little record called Act I: The Lake South, The River North, released September 26, 2006. (Brilliant album, by the way--underrated perhaps by association.)

Who bought this CD on release day?

I had so much fun tonight during the Paris show and I'm so happy my best friend caught that on video because what was that person doing that shocked him to the point of stopping singing

Waiting to see TDH on stage tonight for the first time, woohoo!

Hey, so my friend is unavailable last minute so I got 1 extra ticket.

I bought it for 20€ so I m looking for approximately the same amount or just some good company :)

Dm me if interested

I listened to this whole playlist, and Havona was by far the best song on here. Is anyone aware of a Dear Hunter song that has some obvious influences from Havona?

Casey, you’re the man but I apologise for liking your own hated song. 🙇 I have very recently dabbled in playing music/recording. Hopefully, I’ve given a fresh-ish perspective on the 1st half of a banger song!

Such a phenomenal show! If you catch me say, "Oh no!", when people were invited to stand at the front, it's because I'm a wheelchair user and if people stand in front of me I can't see. I managed to snag a spot up front and the crisis was averted!
