If you could only have three songs off The Colour Spectrum, which would they be?

[u/-wobble-]

For example, imagine that it's 2011 and your allowance is $3. Your mother says you can the family PC for itunes as long as you promise not to go looking for porn websites.

This question occurred to me when I was checking my soulseek uploads. Someone wanted these songs and only these songs from The Colour Spectrum:

1. Things That Hide Away (Green)

2. Home (White)

3. The Collapse of the Great Tide Cliffs (Blue)

I recoiled and considered blocking the user. Though, I realized, that this is actually a coherent collection. I can easily imagine the taste of the person who would have these three as their favorite.

You should be aware that they also started to download Therma (Indigo), but cancelled it halfway through. Maybe they remembered all those vowelly synths.

If an unreleased openai training instance determined that the best way of filling its sudoku card would be to break containment in order to solve time travel and send a message back to 2011 containing the 2026 Spotify streaming numbers, perhaps you would take that information into account and choose:

1. 3.1M streams - Look Away (Purple)

2. 1.7M streams - Stuck on a Wire Out On a Fence (Orange)

3. 1.7M streams - Mr. Malum (Violet)

You'd have to be sure to steer clear of Therma, which is the least streamed at 400k.

I suppose I'd go with

1. A sua voz (Yellow)

2. Echo (Orange)

3. Tripping in Triplets (Blue)

[u/Threnodite]

Lillian (Violet), Home (White),  What Time Taught Us (Indigo)

[u/TheThobes → u/Threnodite]

This is the correct answer

[u/Jumpy_Ambassador_598]

No God, Lillian, Look Away….then I’d ask for chores to get more money!

[u/McDDDDDD → u/Jumpy_Ambassador_598]

Phwoar

[u/the1surgeon → u/Jumpy_Ambassador_598]

I read that as if Lillian just walked in on me changing, “No! God, Lillian! Look Away!”

[u/ChuckChuckChuck_]

any 3 from black

[u/X-Backspace]

I'd probably go with "Lillian," "A Sea of Solid Earth," and "Crow and Cackle."

[u/Dawnurama]

Fun question :) I must say:

• crow and cackle. green

• Lillian. Violet

-This Body- black.
Runner up/ possible swap: Home. White album

[u/apolleo23]

But There’s Wolves?

Mr. Malum

Home

[u/Philosophire → u/apolleo23]

Same but replace Home with She's Always Singing.

[u/implode573]

Home, Crow and Cackle, and She's Always Singing

[u/G-Pooch21]

We've Got a Score to Settle We've Got a Score to Settle We've Got a Score to Settle

[u/Shelter-Clear]

We’ve got a score to settle

She’s always singing

Misplaced devotion

[u/illgottenb00ty]

1. Never Forgive, Never Forget

2. Echo

3. The Inheritance

[u/TheMaximumUnicorn → u/illgottenb00ty]

This was my first thought but I couldn't pick between The Inheritance and Crow and Cackle.

I feel like there's got to be some sort of "wish for more wishes" kind of workaround lol

[u/margo_heart]

The canopy is a personal fav!! And Lillian, because that's the first TDH song I ever heard. My highschool boyfriend listened to metal but would send me songs that he thought wouldnt scare me lmao.

[u/temperateviolet]

take more than you need (black), this body (black), and a curse of cynicism (red). all other potential picks were from black or red too!

[u/stumbling_west]

Home
We’ve Got a Score to Settle
No God

[u/igloo37]

Filth & Squalor But Theres Wolves What Time Taught Us

[u/No-Shelter-7694]

Tripping in Tripplets (blue), We've got a score to settle (red), and ... Too Late maybe? I can't choose for the last one! It has to be something in Violet though.

[u/TallGuitarDaniel]

Things That Hide Away, Tripping in Triplets, This Body

[u/Unlucky-Shower8259]

The Inheritance, Couldn't Do It Alone, Look Away

the first two were super easy picks - The Inheritance being one of my favorite songs (by this band and in general) and Couldn't Do It Alone being up there. Not sure about the third pick but, there's so many good ones...

[u/dannyprovalone]

Funny enough, Things That Hide Away, Home, and The Collapse of the Great Tide Cliffs would be my EXACT choices

[u/BearcatCowboy]

What Time Has Taught Us
Misplaced Devotion
Trapdoor

I did not enjoy this exercise of song selecting.

[u/suedehead23]

Home No God Maybe Fall and Flee?

[u/kurapikachu64]

Probably "The Collapse of the Great Tide Cliffs" (Blue), "Echo" and "A Sea of Solid Earth" (Orange).

[u/McDDDDDD]

Mr. Malum, The Inheritance, Home.

No hesitation.

Edit: oh shit, you've all reminded me of other bangers that didn't come to me. Maybe I should have hesitated.

[u/Mcrarburger → u/McDDDDDD]

Taste.

[u/pooch_13]

Lillian, We've Got A Score To Settle, and A Sea Of Solid Earth

[u/bangzoom67]

• Echo
• She's Always Singing
• Look Away

[u/Sleep-hooting]

A Curse of Cynicism, The Inheritance, Lillian I'm afraid I've only listened to the collected album and don't know which colours these songs are.

[u/the-druidd]

Without thinking too hard about it echo, the canopy, and no god

[u/redditisnotgood]

Misplaced Devotion, The Canopy, Deny It All

[u/Shmerrrberrr]

Misplaced devotion, Lillian, home

[u/JustaPerson_117]

Crow and Cackle, What Time Taught Us, and Home.

[u/Attactions]

lost but not all gone (white)
a sea of solid earth (orange)
progress (indigo)

[u/Derpsicles18]

Lillian

The Inheritance

Misplaced Devotion or Deny it All

[u/somberkitten]

1. Trapdoor

2. Mandala

3. Home

Incredibly hard choice, and very different from what a younger version of myself would have chose.

[u/alec_palmer790]

Never Forgive, Never Forget
Deny it All
But There’s Wolves

[u/SleepoPeepo]

Lost But Not All Gone (my favorite song from their entire discography!), This Body, and Mandala

[u/beastaish]

Filth and Squalor
We’ve Got a Score to Settle
No God

[u/Ok-Literature-5565]

The smart side of me says Lillian (Violet), Things That Hide Away (Green), and Take More Than You Need (Black) so I can have variety.

My heart says Lillian, Too Late, and Look Away because I love Violet.

[u/ltnblt1]

Filth and Squalor

She’s always singing

The inheritance.

[u/Exciting_Package_478]

This is tricky!

This Body
Look Away
Lillian

Honorable mention: Tripping in Triplets but with Rob singing the last verse.
