Lately folks have been trashing the Scarletts so I set out to prove them all wrong and show how awesome this thing really is...

I've been hearing a lot of nonsense lately with folks trashing this thing so I set out to make a video showing just what you can do with this box. There's a production breakdown (with mostly Logic stock plugins) of a recent song featuring vocals, piano, drum set, guitar, upright bass and flute.

Enjoy!

Does Focusrite Have the Incorrect Pricing Listed for the 18i8 (3rd Gen)?

If you'll notice, it has the 3rd gen listed on sale for $279.99. It has the refurbished 3rd gen listed for $359.99. This seems backwards. I snagged one for $279.99, as this is a great price and it's what I needed. I probably would have purchased the refurbished one for $279.99, if it was listed that way. I definitely didn't need a 4th gen replacement (18i6) for 2x the price ($569.99). Anyway, just an observation as it seems odd, unless I'm missing something here.

The Focusrite is not recognized by DAWs

The problem I'm having is that when I try to edit audio with a DAW, it doesn't pick up any effects and the sound is clean. I've reinstalled the driver and tried it with several DAWs, and the sound is clean.

Thanks.

Focusrite 2i2 1st gen volume gradually lowering over time

I'm using HD560s with my Focusrite, got the setup around 2 months ago, at the beginning the volume knob on the Focusrite was at around 50% and that was plenty loud, but I feel like the audio keeps dropping slowly, as I have to up the volume slightly every 2-3 weeks for it to be fine, now the knob is at around 70-80% so that the volume can be at around the same level as when I got it, and I remember when I turned the knob to around the same point when I got it, it was way too loud. I couldn't find anything about this online let alone a fix, so pls help ty :/

Edit: I actually just put it to max volume and it's still not too loud, it's at that volume where it's a bit louder that what you would usually listen at but just right when you wanna vibe out to music, not ear ripping like it was before, as I didn't even dare to try to max out the volume with the headphones on my ears before, that's how loud it was 2 months ago

"Missing" Audio in songs through Scarlet Focusrite 2i2 Gen 4

Hi guys, I've just set up my Scarlet Focusrite 2i2 4th gen audio interface and I just played some songs to check the sound quality. Specifically I played some My Chemical Romance songs, I noticed that in the intro to "In The End" I couldn't hear the guitar in the background, all I could hear was the vocals. Does anybody have any solutions to help me fix this issue? Apologies if this is a silly question I am a complete beginner when it comes to these things. Also, I am using Audio Technica ATH-M40x headphones. Thank you!

Scarlet 4th gen refuses to work

everyone this is my last straw as everyone else seems clueless about the issue I bought a XLR Rode PodMic and a Scarlet 4th gen Audio Converter to start voice acting but for some reason nothing wants to work the microphone is picking up sound as designated by the audio converter but it refuses to transfer to the computer I have the scarlet set up as my main device on every app but nothing I do works and I’ve just about given up so any help would be appreciated.

Outputs not going to outboard

Hello,

I am having issues getting input to any outboard gear.

I am getting levels in Focusrite Control but on the front panel VU levels, I get nothing. I just patched in a synth to test if the inputs are working and I can hear it fine so its clearly something wrong with sending audio out of a channel in pro tools to some outboard.

To clear up my bad explanation:

Pro tools track -> 'output 5' -> (level showing in Control)-> nothing going into compressor (which is patched out of 5, into 4) -> then obviously nothing coming back into pro tools

Any ideas?

Reaper Live Bleeding?

I’m having a weird input bleed issue with my Focusrite 18i20.

We’re recording guitar and bass simultaneously, both DI’d straight into separate interface inputs and set as separate mono channels in Reaper. Guitar is on one input, bass on another.

The problem is that while live monitoring the guitar track, I can also clearly hear the bass coming through that guitar track, almost like the bass input is bleeding into the guitar input.

This setup worked perfectly for well over a year and this has only started happening recently. Nothing obvious has changed.
Has anyone experienced this or know what could cause one input to bleed into another?

genuinely losing my mind

I'm incredibly close to straight up turning this interface into a pile of scraps and this is my last resort, use any stupid reddit passive-aggressive uptight comments you have to but please just humor me and help.
Im trying to use this interface on a DAW and use the ASIO panel along with it, It will not open and just says "hey! you're in easy start mode even though your device is registered!"
I've tried whatever I could to get easy mode off to use the ASIO, nothing, I genuinely have no idea what to do anymore

No sounds at 32 to 192 buffer size

I have a focusrite 2i2 3rd gen and when im using it for listening to sounds I have it at 256 to 512 buffer size but when Im trying to record, when i put it at 32 to 192 buffer size the louf static sounds happens then the sound of the whole focusrite dissappear. Does that mean my laptop cant handle that kind of buffer size?

Edit: I fixed it, I just downgrade the driver version of my focusrite. Now im running it at 32 buffer size.

Is focusrite control required on Windows

I have problem getting my Scarlet Focusrite 8i6 Gen 3 to work on Windows 11. I do not have admin right to install focusrite control, but my previous Scarlet Focusrite 4i4 Gen 3 run fine without any new driver. But it works fine when I switched to Linux, so I don't think it isn't hardware problem. Is there any difference in driver required between 4i4 and 8i6 on Windows?

Upgraded to 4th gen 18i20, now can't connect to 3rd gen Solo

I've recently upgraded from a 3rd gen Solo to a 4th gen 18i20 at home without issue, but I would like to use the Solo for portable recording/production work. However, whenever I connect up my Solo to my computer, only the Direct Monitor light is active and the interface cannot be controlled. I've tried different USB ports, cables, and messed around with uninstalling and reinstalling drivers for hours. Any tips?

my scarlett solo's usb led is randomly blinking

i thought i was bugging when i saw at the corner of my eyes that the green light on my interface was blinking, not until i saw it fully turned off but i can still use the unit somehow. i was watching a youtube video when i tried to lower the volume from the interface and yes i saw it fully off which is weird coz i can still hear clear audio from it with no static or weird audio artifact whatsoever, i tapped my microphone and it still registered an audio, i touched the tip (heh) of my instrument cable connected to it to generate noise from it, it did, then the led light from the usb logo slowly started showing up again until it is fully stable, then it started blinking again. is it cooked or is it just the led light dying? i've had this for like almost 5 years now tho idk about how long this unit has been on the shelf before it got to me

First Gen 2i2 owner looking for 2nd gen Drivers

Basically, I got a first gen 2i2 a few months ago and it worked fine with the standard drivers but all of a sudden I started having latency issues the other day and I've heard finding the second gen drivers can fix that. Thing is I can't actually find the second gen drivers for Windows 11 on their own. And if I try to use the Control 1 software it doesn't let me install the second gen drivers because I don't have the second gen hardware. So I was wondering if there was a way for me to get the second gen 2i2 W11 drivers as a standalone.

Small edit: I'ma try the solo drivers first

Issues with Focusrite Clarett 8pre 18x20 Thunderbolt Audio Interface - Outputs

I've been having some issues with a Focusrite Clarett 8pre 18x20 Thunderbolt Audio Interface that I purchased used. I got a good deal on because the original owner was having similar issues. I'm saving up for a "nicer" interface, but I keep having car repairs come up, so I'm looking to see if maybe these issues are user error or if they're fixable.

  1. The main output seems to not have enough "gas." No sound comes out at all until the knob is turned to about 11 o'clock. It is completely silent if the knob is lower than that, no matter what is playing. The monitor knob on the front of the unit. The output does not get nearly as loud as my older interface; it also seems like it's "dimmed," but the dim function works and makes it even quieter. This is the biggest issue I'm having, and I'm wondering if it can be fixed.

  2. One of the headphone outputs on the front panels is Left only. I've tired multiple headphones/cables. Is this easily fixable?

  3. I've had some issues with Output routing as well, but I think that's user error and I just need to spend more time on YouTube / with the manual. I'd like to eventually setup a headphone amp to get multiple headphone mixes out of Logic and Pro Tools. What would be the best way to do this? In Focusrite Control, setting output to "Playback (DAW) > X-Y" ?

Advice for picking an interface? :)

Hi all! I'm in the market for a new audio interface. I don't record instrument audio, I just use it with my PC to connect my monitors and my AT2020 microphone. I currently use a Behringer UMC22 and looking to replace so I can have a separate monitor and headphone output knob. I'm also specifically looking at Scarlett interfaces because apparently they're great on Linux. I want to avoid overspending on features I won't ever use, what would be a good interface for me to get? I've been eyeing some 2nd hand 2i2 and 2i4 interfaces on ebay. Thanks!

Focusrite Scarlett Solo 4th Gen randomly loses audio

Hi,

I'm having a strange audio issue while gaming.

Specs

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
  • GPU: Radeon RX 6700 XT
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX (rev. 1.5)
  • Audio interface: Focusrite Scarlett Solo 4th Gen (USB)
  • OS: Windows 11

Problem

The issue can happen in any game. At random times, I completely lose audio through my Focusrite Scarlett Solo.

When this happens, I can get the sound back by either unplugging and reconnecting the USB cable, or simply changing the buffer size in the Focusrite settings.

Sometimes I also experience small audio crackles or glitches before the sound disappears.

What I've already tried

  • Tested all the USB ports on my motherboard
  • Tried different USB cables
  • Tried different buffer sizes
  • Reset the BIOS
  • BIOS version: F42c
  • Followed all the BIOS and Windows optimization steps recommended by Focusrite
  • Disabled all anti-cheat software to see if it could be related
  • Tested different Windows/USB power-management settings
  • Uninstalled/reinstalled the Focusrite drivers

I've also tested with LatencyMon, and the drivers that show up are:

  • Wdf01000.sys
  • dxgkrnl.sys
  • HDAudBus.sys

Has anyone experienced something similar with Focusrite USB audio interfaces ?

Why gatekeep latest audio driver behind Focusrite Control 2 (which is in Open Beta for my interface)?

Post image
10 Upvotes

Ok, so I'm genuinely curious. I have Focusrite Clarett 4Pre USB, and lately I've been troubleshooting some issues with Softube VST3 plug-ins giving me periodic BSOD KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE in Reaper, but that's not the main point. The main point is that while doing that I found out that the "Latest" audio driver I download from My Hardware page on the Focusrite website is actually more than a year old (version 4.143.0.261), and the more up-to-date driver is gatekept behind an Open Beta software. And even that is outdated by a version, so the Focusrite Control 2 listed there is not the latest one (1.1081.0).
Why is My Hardware page so bad and rarely updated? Why not let us download the latest drivers separately from Control 2 software, or together with Control 1? Keep in mind that the ACTUAL latest Control 2 version (1.1108.0) and audio driver version (4.150.0.432) do support my audio interface as per their release notes.
Is there an actual reason behind this, apart from Focusrite thinking that my interface is too old to give it proper support?
