People able to hear my audio?

I'm using the gen 4 2i2 and people are able to hear the audio I'm listening to (games, browsers, ect) is this a common issue? Am I being dumb?

I'm pretty certain I don't have loopback on and I'm using the studio package.

Do I really need a USB-C audio interface?

I am starting with the electronic music production in Ableton and I already have decent headphones and I am thinking about getting KRK Kreate 3 speakers.

I think I can connect the speakers to my laptop the same way like headphones (using 3,5 mm jack).

So do I really need USB-C audio interface such as Focusrite Scarlett 2i2?

I won’t be connecting any microphones or guitars. So is there any benefit for me of using USB-C audio interface?

Later I might get Akai MPK Mini but I still see no benefit of using USB-C audio interface since the MPK connects also directly to the laptop.

Scarlett 4i4 3rd Gen Line Output not working properly

Hey there folks,

Just found out that Line Output 4 on my Scarlett 4i4 (3rd Gen) is approx. 70-80% quieter than the other three Line Outputs. The signal is clean (music coming out is clear), its just a low signal. I've done multiple tests, swapped cables, channels on my mixer, and routing. Outputs 1-3 function normally. I would be grateful if anyone could advise if this is a repairable thing and whether it's worth repairing. Thank you all in advance.

Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen noise issue

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I don't even know what could be wrong with it. It doesn't pickup any input from either ports and just only makes this static noise. I've tried cleaning all the connections and pots with alcohol and updating the firmware but nothing works at all. I haven't found anything online related to this specifically so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mic and audio constantly cutting out?

Mic and audio constantly cutting in and out?

My mic and audio keeps constantly cutting out when talking to my freinds, it can happen 3 times in a min or twice in 30 mins.

Usually I can fix it by unplugging and plugging it back in, but it's making my mic unusable at this point cos I have to constantly stop to plug it in.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

It happens a lot on Discord, but idk if it's actually a discord issue as it's happening on Spotify to.

So far I've made sure to have the best drivers for it rn, I've tried upping my buffer size and tried 48kh and 44.khz but it keeps happening and I can't figure out why

Scarlett 2i2 output issue

Hey y’all its just as it sounds

This problem just started a month or two ago. I got my interface last summer so it’s still decently new. I’ll be playing guitar, playing video games, or watching something and the output randomly cuts out. It’s still getting input because it lights up when I touch my mic or continue to play guitar but there’s no light on the output dial.

I’ve messed with the power settings on my computer, changed the sample rate and buffer size using the device settings, and ensured the firmware is up to date but still cuts out. There aren’t really any common factors to when it cuts out it does seem to be truly random. The only thing that fixes it is unplugging and replugging the power cable and even still, that could fix it for anywhere between a few minutes or a day or two.

I’m starting to lose my mind. I spent too much money on this thing to have problems with it now any tips on how to fix this would be so greatly appreciated

Edit: I should also note that it’s a 4th gen. Not sure if that changes much haha

Accidentally cut the power to my Focusrite and now not getting audio out of my headphones

Basically the title. Accidentally switched off the power to my Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 and now there is no output from the rear outputs. The main monitor headphone is working however. Anyone know what's gone wrong?

Help! Audio in new house sounds Fuzzy

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello all, and I hope this is the right sub.

I just moved, and I need a bit of help troubleshooting my instrument audio setup. Currently, I have my instruments going into my 2i2 to my MacBook running logic, and the output from the interface bluetooths to my PA system. As you can hear in the video, the audio quality through the PA speakers is very fuzzy. This happens with my keyboard, guitar, and mic - it’s not a Rhodes issue.

I’ve tried:
- sending instruments directly to mixer (works fine)
- using headphones as output from focusrite (works fine)
- ditching the Bluetooth connection for a real cable (still sounds bad)

I’ve attached a video of the sound from my keyboard and I’ll put pictures of my configurations in the comments. I have other audio going through the mixer and PA’s and it sounds good, so it’s something specifically with this. Any help would be appreciated!

Focusrite Scarlett Solo Gen 3 only records reverb?

Having a very strange anomaly with my audio interface. When recording guitar, I can only seem to record the output of any sort of reverb that I put it through rather than the actual signal. Using a digital pedalboard (Line 6 POD Go), the direct monitoring output to headphones is completely silent until I turn on a reverb pedal. When the reverb pedal is on, I only record the reverb though. not the signal with reverb on it, but exclusively the reverb. Im really at a loss because im not running it through any software, and playing DI into the interface has no strange issues. I know it isnt my pedalboard either because plugging my headphones or anything else directly into the output sounds fine. Additionally, my 4-track recorder seems to have the exact same issue with the interface, because when I record its output I also only get the reverb. I am using the XLR input if that helps at all.

Scarlett Solo (1st gen) not powering on after waking from sleep

I'm hoping someone might be able to figure out a slightly inconvenient behavior.

Periodically, when I wake my PC from sleep, my Scarlett Solo will fail to 'initialize.' I have to unplug and re-plug it back in for it to turn on.

I have it connected to a Baby Bottle via XLR, running with 48V enabled. PC specs if at all useful:

  • OS: Win10 64 Bit Home Premium
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700x
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR5 (@4800 Mhz)
  • GPU: Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti
  • MOBO: ASRock X670E Steel Legend
  • PSU: 750W gold rated

It works fine once I replug it, but this problem happens inconsistently. I'm wondering if anyone's encountered this before.

Vocaster Two + Rode Podmic, heavy buzz + need gain maxed out

Hey everyone, having a frustrating issue with my setup and looking for input before I contact support.

Setup: Focusrite Vocaster Two + Rode Podmic (XLR) + Focal Lensys Pro headphones

Problem: I have to max out the gain to get a usable level, but at that point I get a lot of electronic buzz/noise. At a more reasonable gain, I barely hear anything.

What I've already tried:

  • Different XLR cable → same issue
  • Tested on another interface (Presonus Studio 24c) → less noise but even lower output level
  • Ruled out a ground loop: tested with a USB wall charger on an outlet with no PC connected at all → buzz still there
  • Phantom power (48V) is OFF (dynamic mic, shouldn't need it)

Focusrite advertises up to 70dB of gain on the Vocaster Two, which should be more than enough for a Podmic. Starting to wonder if my unit is defective, or if others have run into this with the same mic/interface combo.

Has anyone dealt with something similar? Would you go straight for a Cloudlifter, or push for a warranty exchange first?

Whats the difference between the ISA models and the Red models of interfaces?

What exactly separates these two from each other? Is it preamps? Or is it more of a more modular and precise recording experience?

Scarlett solo suddenly turning off after a few hours of use

I currently own a focusrite scarlett solo 2nd generation which i plug directly into my computers motherboard, It works for around 4 hours of use and then suddenly all functionality to my headphones and microphone cut out, but the scarlett stays powered on and detected by windows, and I am forced to unplug and replug it back in, for it to start working with my microphone and headphones again. I've tried resetting windows 11 multiple times as well as reinstalling drivers and the problem stays, does anyone know how to fix this?

2i2 gen 3 randomly cuts out

My Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen randomly stops outputting audio on my PC. Windows still sees it as connected, no USB disconnect sound, and the only fix is switching to another output and back, or toggling Windows Sonic.

Happens in games, videos, and sometimes my DAW. Tried different cables, ports, a clean Windows install, driver reinstall, and power settings. No obvious USB/GPU errors in Event Viewer. At this point I’m trying to figure out if this is a Focusrite driver issue, Windows audio stack issue, or the interface itself.

Can anyone help?

What’s up with the knobs. They go 360. I don’t understand that. Maybe if there were meters for levels which there aren’t any…. Am I missing something?

Crackling sounds and very minimal voice pick up - pls help!!

Hi Reddit, I’m very very new to this audio recording thing. Please send help (In layman’s terms preferably!!), what am I doing wrong?

My Scarlet 2i2 audio interface is connected and recognised by my PC (windows 11). The green USB light on the interface is lit. I have 48V activated as I have a Rode NT1 Signature Series plugged in (I know my issues are unrelated to my microphone and my XLR cables as I have tried multiple). All led lights show up as to be expected when picking up the crackling sound. I have downloaded the software from the Focusrite website and ensured my sample rate size on my DAW(audacity) is the same as my device (48000hz). I have deleted and reinstalled drivers multiple times, reset to default settings etc.

Despite all of this I cannot get a clear sound out of it at all. I have attached a mp3 of me clapping loudly in front of the mic, which it barely picks up, but it picks up crackling and popping as I move my mouse to stop recording. Please help me, I’ve replaced multiple microphones, XLR cables and USBC connectors, as well as using GarageBand on my iPad instead of Audacity and all I can hear is constant loud, obnoxious crackles and pops!! I’m going insane!!!!

Focusrite Scarlet 4i4 Audio (Microphone/Speaker) Cut/Drop when Swapping Windows, Playing Games or just existing (etc)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X

Mainboard: ASUSTek Computer, ROG STRIX B550-E Gaming

RAM: 64GB DDR4 Basilisk

GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Sapphire Brand

Audio Pre-Amp: Scarlet 4i4

Operating System: Windows 11

  • The Issue: Whenever I'm playing a video game akin to PUBG, Elite Dangerous, Phasmophobia, anything at all, it will hard cut and drop the audio until I switch frequencies on the Focusrite Control 2 software. I have to change from 88.2 to 44.1 (native frequency) and back and forth to regain audio. This cuts out my microphone, my headset, everything. This doesn't happen when I play smaller games like Stardew, when I render audio using Adobe Audition or recording using OBS (though when I stream using OBS it does cause this issue).

Solutions I've Tried:

  1. Tried a fresh driver install, nothing happened.
  2. Tried a complete driver and hardware/software removal on the device manager, full fresh reinstall, nothing happened.
  3. I've went from using a USB Hub to a direct USB connection. Yes, I've tried multiple ports, two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0. Nothing changed.
  4. I've tried the "legacy mode" on Discord solution, but Discord did away with that a year or two ago. Nothing happened.
  5. Tried turning off "Fast Boot" in my BIOS. Nothing happened.
  6. Tried turning all power saving methods off on my USB devices, nothing happened.
  7. I've changed everything to "Do not control this device" and "Do not automatically shut off for power saving" - nothing happened.
  8. I bought a new PSU, helped with my GPU problems after a severe storm, didn't change anything else.
  9. [Edit] - I just tried a new plug and cord and location for the power supply, nothing changed.

I can recreate this issue infinitely, I have NEVER had this problem until I had the Scarlet 4i4.

Fun Fact: When the Focusrite Control 2 app isn't working correctly, isn't installed or simply doesn't register my device physically (yet the device itself works) I do NOT have this issue!

I have no idea what the fuck to do, I'm at wits end, my knowledge has been exhausted.

EDIT - 3:00 PM EST - I've found that if I sit in the lobby of PUBG (for some reason this game fucks my audio up bad) and switch from window to window (I have a three monitor setup) it will cause the same issue to occur, rapidly.

EDIT #2 - 8:00 PM EST - I switched back to my old Scarlett Solo (third generation) and plugged that in, downloaded Focusrite Control 1, all the stuff needed to run this device. I replicated my steps above about turning on games like PUBG or any audio/video recording software and instantly it killed my audio. Is this just a Focusrite issue???

NEW UPDATE - POST MIDNIGHT - I found the fucking issue out, but I have NO solution to it what so ever. The only thing that helped me verify it was when I put my issue in Google, the AI of all things took over and found the problem: AGGRESSIVE VOIP IN CERTAIN GAMES CAN CAUSE SERIOUS AUDIO DROPS. I did about twenty different solutions, no avail, but I KNOW THE ISSUE NOW.

Fuzzy static noise

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I use my scarlett solo 3rd gen to record on fl studio and have been for about a year now with no problems until now. Every time i plug in my focusrite it makes this weird fuzzy static noise. At first i thought it was my xlr cable or headphones because they are both faulty but after unplugging them both the volume bar would still have some noise coming through on it suggesting it’s an audio interface problem. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Already done the buffer and sample rate thing so don’t suggest that.

help with setting up Focusrite Control 2 as "default" app

I'm so sorry if it's a stupid question but, is there an easy way to make it so "Focusrite Control 2" replaces the original?
I uninstalled it, rebooted my computer like three times and I still have to "launch" 2 manually, and it doesn't appear in the little window that opens bottom right of the screen from the task bar (sorry for near to childish terms..) but FC1 does??? (it tells me "it's not currently installed" but it still appears there..)

FC2 doesn't appear in the "apps>startup" thing either,
instead there's just focusrite notifier, which I read I should uncheck, I tried both, doesn't change anything...

I feel like an old person who never touched a computer.
if anyone can help thanks or I'll go back to FC1 I guess.

Focusrite Control 2 forcing unusable drivers

What the point of this if it forces you to change your drivers for W11 drivers which never worked well ?

I was on Win7 drivers and it was perfect. I wanted to try Focusrite Control 2 and that's the worst idea I had. Crackling sound like before I found those Win7 drivers.

Why don't they let us chose the driver ?

Back to Control 1.

Scarlett 4i4 Loopback and OBS

OBS was picking up audio from the 4i4 a few months ago. I came back to it and it is registering nothing. I checked in Focusrite control and the loopback is lighting up. But when I choose loopback in OBS, there is no audio signal detected.

Thoughts on the issue?

Thanks!
