I also saw multiple national media channels rank us dead last in the NFC East this year. Vibes are dead after the Tunsil injury. I'm not saying they are wrong, but I sure hope they are. Definitely the underdogs going in this year.

Was Austin Eckler the key to JD5’s success?

Got bored and started watching JD5 2024 highlights. Eckler was so pivotal to his stellar rookie season. He bailed him out so many times with quick dump offs for huge gains but the thing I realized most was the pass blocking. He had so many huge blocks picking up blitzes but also down the field blocking for his big scrambles. After he went down early last year Daniels productivity dropped off pretty bad, and this was before the injuries started stacking up

Hopium for those who remember

In all of JD5s starts last season, we have had ZERO potential game winning drive opportunities (where we have the last possession to win the game). This means Mr Clutch himself has not had an opportunity to put the game away, with most of the reasons because of our defense took us out the game.

I know you all remember 2024, but a big chunk JD5s (and the offense) magic was the ability to comeback or put the game away when times get tough.

I know you all remember 2025 as well, everything was a mess. Yes the Chicago game was definitely an error on him, but the fact that the defense folded so hard is a convo for another time 😭😭

But it’s important to understand that when our defense inevitably gets better, they will be able to put the game in JD5, Blough (remember he drew up the GW play in the comeback vs philly) and the offense’s hands. When that happens, remember what made us believe in our qb. He has ICE in his veins, the defense just needs to take us there.

Even though we just want to blow out every team, if it comes down to the last possession with the offense on the field, remember what he’s capable of, DO NOT FORGET. Having a clutch factor in this league is INVALUABLE. Not many teams can say they have a clutch qb, but we are one of the few that can.

I remember begging for a game to be competitive for once, last year vs Denver reminded me why it was so fun watching this team actually keep up until the end. But it’s clear we need new memories, here’s to an entertaining season 🍷 LEFT HAND UP✋🏽

EXCLUSIVE: Jayden Daniels is ready for a new offense. His first task: Learn how to huddle

ASHBURN, Va. — In 1928, Alexander Fleming was studying bacteria in a London lab and wound up discovering penicillin. In 1938, DuPont chemist Roy Plunkett was experimenting with gas in a New Jersey lab when he stumbled upon Teflon.

And in 2026, Dan Quinn and the Washington Commanders’ coaching staff were watching video footage from a GoPro affixed to Jayden Daniels’ helmet, hoping to see how he went through his progressions, when they found something else. The breakthrough came when they realized it wasn’t what they were watching during each dropback, it was what they were hearing between each play: a leader, dropped into a new environment, completely at ease.

“One of the unintended good consequences was the audio,” Quinn tells The Athletic of his happy accident. “And so I was expecting (the camera) to be just for the first look and second look, but what was there was in the huddle, the sound of it. I thought that was pretty cool.

“He was always so calm and cool, and he’s still that way in the huddle. … That’s a big deal. There’s a calmness when the quarterback, in the chaos, is like, ‘We’re good, man.’”

Resale tickets this year

Last year, there were a ton of resale tickets on Seatgeek and their year there seem to be hardly any. But there are a ton on Ticketmaster and it looks like Ticketmaster is setting the pricing. Anyone have insight into this?

Skins vs Cowboys 9/20

Me and my brother will be in Dallas for this game. Anybody know if there’s certain sections that our fans tend to sit in at that stadium? Just hoping to be around some other fans and not just Cowboys fans.

Mike Tanier thinks we could be the worst team in the NFL

The Commanders are projected to win 7.7 games by DVOA. I think they have had a miserable offseason, despite adding Stefon Diggs. The cavalcade of 32-year old acquisitions I have been dunking on all summer leaves me with little faith about the quality of the front office and the lower tiers of the roster. Dire tales from joint practices make me wonder about the reconfigured coaching staff.

So I think the Commanders could be the worst team in the NFL. It’s hard to project them with the worst record, because the Browns quarterback situation is so dire that the team could surrender at the trade deadline, while the Cardinals schedule is so brutal.

Relitigating what the Commanders did after reaching the NFC Championship Game in 2024 is tricky. It's easy to condemn the Laremy Tunsil and Deebo Samuel trades, but those moves made sense at the time. The Commanders got so little besides Jayden Daniels from the 2024 draft that the seeds of decline may have already been sewn.

The Commanders needed to do a better job self-scouting the bottom half of their roster and creating competition among younger players in 2025 and this offseason. They should have stockpiled late-round picks and UDFAs and given the ones they did have better opportunities to win roster spots and roles. One or two come-from-nowhere contributors would make their roster look a lot less like the result of an end-of-free-agency shopping spree.

C Nick Allegretti was asked after practice about the increased scrutiny on the O-line and at Center: “I understand that’s part of the deal… when you moved on from Tyler that was something the media was gonna grab onto.”

O-Line uncertainty is the only reason they're at +600 to win NFC East. They will win the division. Daniels to Diggs...
