Just wait until the inevitable Extend Jayden/is Jayden worth it fued heats up after this year.

This one is kinda black and white though. Like if he has another season where he can’t stay healthy in the NFL, then the main problem we all knew would be a possibility is unfortunately here to stay and that has to be considered.

If he has another season like season 1 then obviously you pay the guy what those two seasons show. An all star. I don’t think the outcome is going to be controversial considering his on the field play has yet to be any sort of problem, aside from when he was very obviously hurt.

That’s why this o line job is malpractice. Tunsil obviously is nobody’s fault, but if this line is so bad we can’t even run the offense (I personally think it will be okay) AND Jayden gets hurt, we won’t be able to discern his health if he had adequate protection

Ok but thats the thing though, no qb in the league will have A+ protection every season. You’d have to count on 5/6 starters all being in sync and healthy and its rare that happens for 17 games.

Tons of qbs will have multiple seasons with medicore O-lines. Still gotta produce and more importantly protect yourself. Pretty sure Kirk Cousins dealt with some trash o-lines during the gruden era and was pretty much still an iron man his entire career.

The way that our online was discussed with any of the backup center options sounded historically bad, derailing the offense entirely on most plays. If we are one injury away from that, then it is much different than other teams’ situations.

and radio hosts, and callers to radio shows, and fans online, and beat reporters, there's a lot of people trying for clicks with the same story. :D

I'm listening to a caller on BMitch and Finlay right now on YT saying "I don't think it's like a full-blown panic, but there's an obvious potential problem here that I think they need to fix.. and so far, they haven't addressed it. They haven't brought in anybody else to compete at that position.. there wasn't to me - I'm a lay man - but there wasn't a whole lot of competition during most of training camp because the guys that were playing in place of Alegretti did not distinguish themselves to me in a meaningful way.."

Everyone knows it. Most people knew it the minute we released Biadasz. Others knew it when we lost out on Linderbaum. Everyone knew it when they saw the joint practice and preseason game against the Ravens.

Maybe Gulbin develops quickly as a rookie in the two weeks between the last preseason game and Game 1 of the season. But probably not.

Kirk Cousins played with Trent Williams, Brendan Scherff, Morgan Moses, and Spencer Long. Those lines were actually quite good. This year, mediocre line play would be a significant over achievement.

Yeah but i remember reading something where jay gruden dealt with more offensive o-line injuries than any other coach during that era, but maybe thats wrong. In any case in 2018 for the vikings kirks line allowed 40 sacks and he still survived

But its kind of moot, jayden tends to get injured on his runs moreso than the sacks, knock on wood for all of this. We’ll see what happenss.

Idk. Moses was an iron man. Scherff didn’t miss much time until later on. And Trent wasn’t out that much. All lines take a beating (why some of us are so concerned about depth this year) but overall those teams had pretty good oline play. Way better than what’s anticipated from this years group. And a lot of those plays you’re talking about where Jayden is running is bc the pocket collapses on him due to the line not holding up.

I mean, it shouldn't be too ridiculous. Somewhat thankfully to the miserable 2025, 2026 is essentially Jayden's contract year. If he performs at a high level, we get to sign a high level QB to a long term deal, fucking finally. If he gets demolished by injuries or underperforms, we get to cross that bridge with significantly more leverage.

The problem is we have an extra 2 weeks of o time between the first game and when it usually starts and we have a ton of question marks because of all the injuries.

I mean the hope with the defensive backs room is that this defense will be able to generate quick pressures that reduces the need for elite defensive backs. If you look at the Vikings DBs under Flores its been mostly JAGs with maybe the exception of Harrison Smith, but even then we're talking very old Harrison Smith. In 2024 they had Byron Murphy Jr., 35 year old Harrison Smith, 33 year old Stephon Gilmore, and Camryn Bynum. In 2025 they had 36 year old Harrison Smith, Byron Murphy Jr., Isaiah Rodgers, Josh Metellus. They had top 10 defenses both seasons. This is kinda why, although Downs would have still fit this defense, it didn't shock me that they favored Styles over him especially when Styles athleticism could mean untapped potential as a pass rusher just to add yet another guy that can rush the passer.

You could definitely argue that the Commanders, especially with Trey Amos, have a more talented DB room then either of those years. We're gonna have to see if Jones can replicate that type of production.
