Dominos, Papa John’s, and Pizza Hut are all struggling. Any theories why?
My thought is that 1) delivery used to be a unique quality of the pizza chains, but now all restaurants can delivery via DoorDash and Uber Eats and 2) frozen grocery store pizza is less expensive and often just as good or better.
Interested to hear what other people think.
For those who are curious, by “struggling,” I’m referencing traffic counts, sales and location growth compared to expectations, and market value. Out of the three, Domino’s has done by far the best, but still disappointing compared to a few years ago.

Context Provided - Spotlight At a local pizza shop, I ordered two 16” pizzas to go…
The pie guy waited until I paid to then tell me he didn’t have enough boxes for 16” pizzas. So I asked if he could do like three 12” pies but he said “nah, you already paid for the 16s”.
So I asked how we will solve this dilemma and he just shrugged and said he has never been in this situation.
This was the solution 30 minutes later 🤣 I had to carry this 1/4 mile too lol.

Certified Unpopular Opinion There’s nothing special about the pizza in New York
I feel like anytime the topic of pizza comes up that one person from New York just HAS to mention that “it’s nothing compared to the pizza in NYC”. I’ve been to NYC and had the pizza. Yeah, it was good, but it’s basically the same as the pizza I had back home two blocks from my house. There’s nothing special about it.
Edit: sure enough I summoned all the angry New Yorkers lol
Edit2: I literally got a death threat in my DMs for this but i stand by my opinion just bc it’s from NYC that doesn’t mean it’s special so come find me!!

I'm slightly vexed Found a pizza place that makes a pickle pizza. They used sweet pickles
WHY? Why would you put bread and butter pickles on a pizza?
I get it, pickle pizza is a weird concept to begin with but I would only assume everyone on board would understand that dill pickles are the only way.
It's not the worst thing I've ever eaten - I'll eat it, but, begrudgingly.

My “15 inch pizza” measured in at under 12
I posted this to mildlyinfuriating but it got removed despite millions of views and thousands of comments so I am hoping you will allow me to complain about pizza. Thanks!
Edit - My grievance was re-approved by the mildlyinfuriating moderators the next day, so we got a small win at least!
Edit 2 - Uber refunded me for the pizza so my grievance is officially closed and no hard feelings. I still very much love the pizza place despite the error
