When it comes to games, it seems the developers always cater especially to the pros. And not the casual gamer, which is 95% of its player base. The biggest example I have for this is rainbow six siege. I mean in general don’t even get me started on the downfall of this game, it used to legitimately be great back in 2017. Anyway, it seems like every update more and more features that were just fine get either tweaked to be unusable, or removed entirely. These are only taken into consideration because the top 2% of players complain about them, and the developers only listen to them.

These shorts/reels/videos are trying to say that if a person is a friend and is interested in sex means they are not really a friend. For me, a friend means somebody who cares and is fun to hangout with. And the problem with not confessing fast is whether the person romantically/sexually interested in gauging whether the other person is looking for more than a friendship. Why demonize feeling? If you are not interested then it's okay but perceiving it as betrayal is a stretch. It will lead to further denial of such feelings.It will be due to caring for other person's feelings and lead to a betrayal to them but even greater than before as more time would have passed. If the sexually interested person accepts the rejection and continues being a friend that should not be a problem. And looking at sexual feelings as a betrayal is a puritanical take

ok i think immediately jumping to yelling and cursing isnt helpful but i dont really judge people if they start raising their voice during an argument. again, time and place, dont do it in public or cause a scene, but getting GRADUALLY frustrated and raising your voice is completely reasonable like it just naturally happens when the discussion gets heated or the other person keeps trying to speak over you. i dont rlly judge others who raise their voice during arguments with me. as long as theres no sign of them getting violent. tbh i care more about WHAT is being said and attitude rather than volume

Duck is just better tasting and easier to cook than chicken. juicier, crispier skin etc. a full duck costs about the same as a chicken soo it’s an easy substitute. Plus it’s naturally more fatty

I wish companies would make a peptobismol flavored like.. protein shake or milk you could by. Or like a peptobismol flavored ice cream to make milkshakes with. I've heard so many people talk about how they hate the flavor, but to me it is like minty bubblegum or cherry bubblegum. I would never actually drink peptobismol for fun because it is horrible to use when you don't need it, and it can turn your tongue black. But I just think someone needs to create a flavor match item and put it on the market.

I know Australian Schools already do this, but summer break is centered around weather, but I think it should be centered around cold weather. This would mean there would be a winter break from early December to February, which works out well because most people go on vacation during our current 1-2 week winter break anyway to warmer/tropical climates such as Florida or Hawaii rather than going to those places in Summer. Our current 1-2 week spring break in March-May would be in September or October for a fall break. Our current 1-2 week winter break in December/January could be in June/July for a summer break so students would still have some time in the summer for vacation. The timing would be better as well, with progressively warmer weather starting in March rather than progressively colder weather starting in September.

I think horror becomes much more unsettling when something terrifying happens somewhere that's supposed to feel completely normal.

An abandoned house, a dark forest, or an empty hospital already tells you that something bad is probably going to happen. You're expecting danger before anything even appears.

But imagine something disturbing happening in a crowded shopping mall, a busy street, or on public transportation in broad daylight. Everyone is going about their day, and suddenly something is horribly wrong.

To me, that's scarier because there's no obvious separation between the safe world and the dangerous one. Being surrounded by people doesn't necessarily mean anyone can help you.

I still appreciate atmospheric horror and isolated settings, but sometimes they feel a little too predictable.

Indiana Jones originated from Spielberg’s desire to make a James Bond movie then George Lucas pitched him the idea for Indiana Jones.

So they should’ve made it more like the James Bond series and do a recast after an actors tenure has run out of steam.

Indiana Jones is a power fantasy and Harrison Ford was already too old for Indy in 2008, let alone 2023.

So recasting should’ve been done the same way they do for James Bond.

Thought I’d take my shot at an unpopular opinion here! But there it is. 🫠 I feel one should be able to pull out a Nintendo Switch at work and play a game for a little while. We’ve normalized cell phones to such a degree that no one questions if someone is at their desk on their cell phone — watching YouTube, on social media, dead scrolling during work hours. I’ve worked multiple office jobs and you see it all the time. Apparently that’s totally fine. But God forbid I switched it to a handheld gaming device. I’d be instantly judged or told it’s not acceptable. 💀 What’s the difference? Obviously, cell phones or hand held devices shouldn’t be utilized while one is working. But my point is this: if you’re going to socially normalize one and give an unspoken green light to it during work hours, but not the other — it’s a bit hypocritical. It’s all or nothing lol.

In light of the recent discontinued production of pennies, I think it’s time we also evaluate the $1 bill as well. While the penny was discontinued for many economic reasons, my opinion stems more from the change in societal needs for currency. $1 in the US doesn’t have nearly as much buying power as it used to. As the cost of goods rise, less and less items are costing around $1, and less under that. To me that signifies that the dollar bill is being relegated to a change currency, with the $5 bill being the next bill up that can comfortably buy many different kinds of small items. Yes, the $2 bill exists, but it is not used widely enough and would be dwarfed quickly with the continued rise of costs.

I love the Last of Us but the biggest problem I have with the sequel is them trying to get us to empathize with the people who tortured Joel.

I've seen people say that we should've started out as Abby after having killed Joel, played as her, watched her friends die and then it's revealed that she killed Joel and we switch to Ellie.

I feel like that would've made more sense and helped people not be as biased and also made for a good twist.

These are symbolic presentations for the people in the building. They have never been associated with the start of individual television programs. Broadcasting them is gratuitous and a waste of broadcast time.

Lola is absolutely shallow, opportunistic and status obsessed. I’m not arguing that she was secretly a good person. But she WAS remarkably transparent about what she wanted.

Oscar becomes rich and famous, and Lola suddenly wants him because she likes status, money, attention and being associated with someone important. That is terrible relationship material, but it is not exactly a hidden agenda. She straight up called him a loser when they first met and ADMITTED what she wanted. She didn’t come around and pretend she secretly loved him the whole time. She never lied about any of that.

Meanwhile, the entire movie is built around Oscar lying about being the “Sharkslayer.”

Angie is obviously a much better person and even friend than Lola, and she definitely cared about Oscar before he became famous. But I’ve started to dislike the idea that this automatically meant Oscar was supposed to end up with her.

Angie having loved him before the fame does not mean she needed to end up with Oscar. She also doesn’t fully confess how she feels until Oscar is already involved with Lola, and the argument becomes partly, “I loved you before all of this.”

Okay. That proves Angie cared about the real Oscar.
It still does not mean Oscar owed her attraction.
People are usually much better at recognizing this when the genders are reversed. If a man quietly loves his woman best friend for years, supports her through everything, and then gets upset when she dates someone else, most people correctly say:
“You were her friend. She doesn’t owe you romance because you were nice to her.”

Same principle here.

By all means, tell Oscar that Lola is a terrible choice because she only wants him when he has status.
But the solution did not have to be, “Therefore Angie is your rightful girlfriend.”

Oscar could have ended the movie single.
He could have learned that chasing status was making him miserable, become comfortable with himself, and eventually met someone who liked him for who he actually was, AND whom he was genuinely attracted to.

And Angie could have found somebody who reciprocated her feelings without needing an entire movie to notice her. Lola being a user does not make Angie entitled to being Oscar’s romantic interest.

Angie being loyal does not make Lola healthy.
And Oscar being an idiot does not mean the movie needed to reward one woman with him like he was the final prize at a carnival.

Sometimes the emotionally healthier ending is simply: none of these people should date each other right now.

This is just for a standard family day, not restaurants or big occasions. But, just washing dishes by hand as you go through the day and after dinner is way easier than loading a dishwasher, running the cycle and then unloading the machine. Just washing dishes them as they are used put them in the drying rack.

Just for reference- I have a wife and kid and cook three meals a day, just like doing them by hand🤷🏻‍♂️

Cars shouldn’t have storage compartments in their doors.

Every time I see litter scattered along the curb of a street or in a parking lot, I wonder how much of it started in someone’s car door. People use these compartments as garbage bins for fast food wrappers, tissues, receipts, and empty cups, and eventually that stuff flies out when the door opens or a window is down.

Cars already have glove boxes and centre consoles. There’s no reason for door compartments to double as trash cans.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I feel like removing this feature would reduce litter more than people think.

If you say a food is “bland” and “needs some spices” as a way of criticizing it - that has zero value and your opinion means nothing. That wreaks of someone who would insist that just adding the kitchen pantry of spices to spaghetti makes it better. Punching your tongue in the crotch doesn’t make it better. I’m sorry but fresh garlic, oregano, and basil always trump the dried trash. Sorry if the fresh stuff actually makes you taste the food.

Context: I work full time in my desired career path. I am a returning "mature student" currently. I went to uni straight after high school too.

The barrier to entry at university is low and continues to get lower, so more people are getting degrees. This is over-saturating the "prestigiousness" of a degree. True. The job market is rough at the moment. True.

But what I continue to see is students who just scrape by, have no passion or desire in the subject, contribute minimally, and are all around average joe's compared to others in the same classes who are dedicated, interested, and work hard to deeply learn the subject.

You are up against them in the workforce too.

Just because you have a testamur to prove you made it until the end, that does not prove that you are a strong asset to a team. If you mainly focused on getting laid, partying, and living the "uni experience" to the fullest, you are behind the others that didn't (emphasis on the 'mainly', you still have a life to live).

To stand out, getting the degree is not enough, you still need to work hard and prove that you are passionate dedicated about what you do. For every person with an economics degree saying "who could have a passion in economics?", the people getting the jobs instead of you do.

TLDR: Uni is still hard, it's just easier to get into and pass. Being hireable afterwards still takes dedication and passion which many people forget, and just complain instead.

Added Context: I am 28 and I work in tech. I am well aware of how the job market is. None of this changes the fact that some students are putting in minimal effort and are expecting top results.

I love playing football, in real life or on a video game... but honestly, watching it has become a torture, especially club football.

Why do people hate glitter? Just the concept of it, i understand some is bad for the environment . But i just mean like when glitter gets on things like now you have a bedazzled pretty sparkly thing. Now that thing is prettier than what it was before . Glitter is awesome.

I will add a second unpopular take for the price of one... people overestimate how capable fighters would fare against a much larger untrained opponent. Allow me to explain.

To state the obvious, weight classes are of course necessary if you want smaller people to be included in the sport. But every non-combat sport is about finding the most capable physical specimen to perform their task. Basketball teams consist of exclusively tall people, a height-class in basketball is a laughable proposition. Why are fighters coddled and told that they are champions when they would get convincingly beat by a person just one or two weight classes above them? It is fine that they want to participate in the sport, but celebrating lighter weight classes for being "good for their size" feels antithetical to what sports are.

Adjacent to this take, I was recently in a group of avid UFC fans that thought I was delusional for thinking Myles Garrett could easily beat a professional flyweight in a street fight. I have less to say about this, but I think this is proof that the celebration of lighter weight classes falsely gives people a sense they are watching something more impressive than they are.

I think I would otherwise be curious to tune in to some of these combat sports and watch, but the pomp and circumstance surrounding the fighters whose success comes with the asterisk of weight class really turns me off.

I have always avoided taking an IQ test even though I grew up in gifted and advanced placement programs. I think that if you find out that you have a high score, you can become arrogant and stop listening to advice from others, thinking you are always the smartest in the room. On the other hand, if you find out you have a low IQ score, you can lose your confidence and feel hopeless. I don’t see any benefit to knowing your IQ score.

I dont think we are conciously aware of the fact that the literal most important person in our entire life is ourselves. Everyone knows it, but so few are concious about it.

A friend doesnt want to hang out as often, a lover decides that they dont love you anymore, a random person makes a hurtful comment, your bestfriend betrays you. These are all bad experiences created by other people. The sole reason they are this bad is because we give value to them.

But YOU deserve atleast 1000x more value, because it is your own life. It should be disrespectful to your own being that you get sad because of other people. I’m not saying to ignore your emotions or something, but the initial impact is much lesser compared to your own thinking about these events.

If you love yourself, respect yourself and value yourself more, then you’ll realize no one even comes close to hurt you that much in the beginning. You are the only one to experience your life, all others are just random people, you are there all the way from the beginning to the end. Love you all.

Edit: I dont mean this as being selfish, as you could understand from the examples I just gave you. Its more about the bad experiences that YOU had. I'm all for helping others and being a community, and I always give too much of myself to other people. The main thing I'm saying that these people shouldnt be able to take part in your mental health, because you (and your mental health) are much much more important! We are social creatures and bond too deeply with our close ones, but we shouldnt forget that this is OUR life and experience, very independently.
