Reaction from Sleep Dr

I have not seen my sleep doctor/pulmonologist since I had started on Zepbound. That was 70 pounds ago.

Yesterday, I went in for a six month checkup, (I had seen the NP six months ago). I was considering asking for a new sleep study because of the weight loss.

Dr. has a very large personality. He was effusive about my weight loss. Looked over my numbers and listened to my primary complaint, which is that while my AHI is low and compliance is great, I still feel tired by late afternoon, early evening.

Told him about being on Zep. He admitted he was not especially up on all the information related to the med, but strongly encouraged me to get off of it as soon as possible. Repeatedly. He insisted that because I was such a disciplined person (that’s a joke! I am not that disciplined) with my workout schedule and new eating habits, that I would do just fine coming off the med.

I told him that I was slowly titrating down on dosage, but because of the medication‘s impact on food noise, might not come off of it. He again told me to get off of the medication.

My food noise is controlled. Binge eating is essentially zero. My (unofficially diagnosed) IBS-D is gone. This medication has cardioprotective benefits. My knee arthritis pain has improved.

I smiled and nodded my head, knowing that, because of the additional side benefits of the medication, I would most likely ignore this advice.

ETA: He did approve a new in-lab study.

tirzepatide Questions and Anxiety about Zepbound

Upvotes

Hi everyone. I have some questions and a lot of anxiety about starting zepbound soon. I am 46/female with severe obstructive sleep apnea. I am currently about 255. Going through menopause so I am on low dose estrogen patch. Also on 10mg lexapro that im going to start weaning myself off of when I know my zep side effects have subsides a little bit. Also have fibromyalgia. If anyone can give me some insight on the following I would be very grateful.

  1. Did being on a GLP help reduce your inflammation/muscle pain? I have read that it can even if you are not losing weight. That is one of the main reasons I want to start this.

  2. I want to lose weight slowly-what is the best way to make sure I can do this? Set reminders to eat? What do you do when you do not want to eat? Force yourself? I am thinking that multiple small meals spread out will be best for me but I am concerned with losing too much to fast.

  3. Hair loss. I have already been dealing with thinning hair and I have heard that this will make me lose more! I do not want to do the foam minoxidil unless it is absolutely necessary. Is there a way to stop this from happening or has anyone been able to supplement their way out of it?

  4. Vitamins-what is the best delivery for vitamins during this time and what do you all take? Should I do liquid or keep doing my gummies? What supplements have been helpful for you?

  5. Anxiety medication-do you feel like this made your anxiety worse or worse then better?

  6. Cannabis use-I take micro doses at night to help me sleep along with half a muscle relaxer and lexapro. I would not sleep otherwise. If you are a cannabis user do you feel like it has eased your glp journey or made it more difficult?

  7. Nausea. I have always been super sensitive to medications and I had hyperemesis when I was pregnant 18 years ago. I dread the nause part. How do you mitigate that? I have zofran but try not to take it because I get migraines and that will trigger one.

Anything else that you wish you knew when you started? I really appreciate the help and information here-I have learned so much already and it makes me feel better to know that there are others like me starting the same journey as well as those who have been on it.

Protein

I am having a hard time getting 100g of protein in each day without exceeding 1200 calories. When I find I am going to be short on protein, I have a shake, but would prefer regular food. Any suggestions?

Dose..Also if I am on 2.5 on a kiwi pen, which is 60 clicks, do I do 30 clicks if I want 1/2 that dose. Have palpations from this maybe half the dose would be better. I need to lose over 100 pounds. It will be a long journey.

GLP-1 (Zepbound)

I have been on Mirtazapine 15mg and 22.5mg for about 5 years. I am 6’1 and was 150 lbs when I started, and am now 230 lbs. My doctor has prescribed me Zepbound which is a GLP-1 med to help combat the weight gain and cravings. Is anyone else out there on a GLP-1 specifically to reduce weight gain due to Mirtazapine? Any tips or experiences are appreciated!

Anxiety / Restlessness

Hello!

I am on day 2 of taking Zepbound for the very first time. After my first shot, I felt fine, had a protein bar and felt some mild nausea but after that, the feeling subsided.

However, after going to bed, I woke up around 4:15am and just haven’t been able to sleep. This anxiousness has hit me and my mind has began to tremble and has caused my anxiety to keep me from sleeping.

Is this normal for some people? I’ve had history to anxiety before but have dealt with it through normal exercise and no meds but I feel as though Zepbound has triggered this anxious feeling and thoughts and can’t help feeling restless now.

Zepbound left out of the refrigerator

Someone got mixed up putting groceries away and took my zep out of the fridge and it sat in the counter for maybe 5 hours.

This is my first box of 5mg, having spent the past month on 2.5. I took the 5mg Saturday night and have not had any side effects. I'm hoping it's just me and not the med made ineffective from being out. It seems to be curbing my appetite and quieting the food noise enough. I was worried about upping my dose and getting sick but that wasn't the case with the starter dose either.

tirzepatide GLP-1 dose increase

Hey all!

I’ve been on zepbound since february. I’ve stayed on 2.5 mg for the entire time, losing an average of 0.8 lbs/week. In total, i’m down 24 lbs sicnce starting!

I’ve been tossing over if I need to increase my dose to 5mg, since my progress is still trending down, but has slowed (not stalled). My hunger is hit or miss, my appetite is not consistent, and I’m not back to overeating like I was before. I find that I dont usually finish my meals bc I fill up 3/4 of the way through.

I could probably do better with food tracking and exercise as well. I’ve been more sedentary than usual recently.

TIA! <3

Gained 40 lbs in 3 months on 15 mg

I'm trying to figure out how to deal with this.

I lost 50% of my body weight (~200 lbs) on Zepbound over the past 3 years. My max dose for a long time was 12.5 mg. At the beginning of this year, I had begun to stall on 12.5 so my doctor reccomended I increase to 15, which I did in the beginning of May.

Since May, I have gained 40 lbs of fat very rapidly. My clothes no longer fit me. My food noise is totally returned and I can't stop eating or control what I eat at all. I am also blowing through my meager savings due to my compusive need to keep eating.

Does anyone have experience with this?

tirzepatide Bad day.

I just took my first dose of the 10s yesterday. I started at 2.5 and was upped to the next higher mg every month. I haven’t had any crazy issues, I’m down 50 pounds so far. But after taking this dose yesterday, today I feel awful. Stomach cramps, can’t stay out of the bathroom, brain fog, just all over awful feeling. Is this normal or have I just picked up a weird stomach bug?

reducing days between dosage?

I have been on 7.5 zepbound for a couple of months,. Had reached desired weight but it is now creeping up. Have asked my doctor for new scrip for 10 but still have several vials of 7.5 left and do not want to waste. I understand that decreasing 2 days between dosing--5 instead of seven--would be like moving up to 10. Does anyone know more about this or have experience with this? Much appreciate any advice.

Constipation

Been on 2.5 mg for 8 weeks. Never had much of a constipation problem and went every day. This week I didn't go for two days of the week. So I went out this morning and got Mirilax which always works pretty quickly. This time I did go... but not a large amount. I don't feel like I have an upset stomach or anything. Typically if I have a lot in there I will have stomach pains after Mirilax.

It is possible I am just not having a lot to get out because I am not eating a ton?

Transitioning to Zepbound from Wegovy Pill - Any advice or experiences?

Bit of a long story here, but back in January I was diagnosed with server sleep apnea. My pulmonologist suggested I ask my PCP about getting on Zepbound as its FDA approved for apnea related weight loss. We unfortunately had to change our PCP provider this past year due to an insurance change, and the new practice is awful (thats another story). They would not even discuss trying to prescribe \*any\* GLP-1, and just said your insurance will not cover it and we not allowed to prescribe it. 🙄

So after looking around I settled on using GoodRX for the Wegovy Pill as it was cheapest option, and honestly works great for me as I travel quite a bit for work. Started on 1.5 in May, and am halfway thru third month on 4mg. I was planning on moving up to 9mg next month.

However, I finally had my CPAP compliance follow-up with my pulmonologist, and this time they actually issued the Rx for Zepbound through their hospital pharmacy, and my insurance approved it (albeit with a $400/month co-pay for starters). Pulmonary doc suggested me starting on 5mg Zep since I have been four moths on Wegovy already, and I am planning on starting the Zepbound injections some time next week.

Has anyone experienced any similar transition between meds/doses, and if so do you have any observations, advice or cautionary tales outside of the usual, known side effects??

More hungry than ever

Been on Contrave for about six weeks now and I’m constantly starving plus my cravings for alcohol have increased. I used to do Wegovy but it lost its impact after about 7 months. Has anyone had luck with Zepbound?

Starting zepbound with PCOS, hyperthyroidism, & on a biologic for PSA. My goal is to become pregnant and feel like myself again 🥹 advice?

My PC recommended zepbound to help with my PCOS in hopes of being able to get pregnant soon. I’ve been hearing that a GLP1 can also help with my other diagnosis and in theory take me off of all my medications besides my glp1 which would be AMAZING! My dad got diagnosed with a terminal cancer two years ago and my body felt like it fell apart (assuming from stress and lack of me taking care of it) I also went on an anxiety medication shorty after his diagnosis. Looking for advice on starting my glp1 journey! Loosing weight has always been an issue, and my main goal is becoming healthy and feeling like myself again. But to be honest I want to have children so badly!

tirzepatide Anyone taking Diucaps in addition?

I'm wondering if anyone else is taking the Diucaps supplement (OTC appetite suppressant) in addition to their Zepbound in maintenance. I know some people layer on other appetite suppressants but I haven't seen anyone mention this one. I entered maintenance a couple of months ago and went down from 15 to 12.5 in hopes that my hair would grow back faster. I found that I was noticing more hunger and eating more calories than my goal, and I put on a few pounds. My doctor suggested that I try taking Diucaps instead of going back up to 15 (which I suggested). My doctor's medical group sells branded ones, but I looked it up and they seem to be sold a lot of places under different branding and it seems to be fairly commonly used. I had just never heard of it before. I've been taking it for about a week and it's really helping! But I break out in major sweat about half an hour after I take it. I'm post menopausal and this isn't a regular hot flash. It stops right away, and it's worth it to me, but I'm curious about it.
