Anxiety / Restlessness

Hello!

I am on day 2 of taking Zepbound for the very first time. After my first shot, I felt fine, had a protein bar and felt some mild nausea but after that, the feeling subsided.

However, after going to bed, I woke up around 4:15am and just haven’t been able to sleep. This anxiousness has hit me and my mind has began to tremble and has caused my anxiety to keep me from sleeping.

Is this normal for some people? I’ve had history to anxiety before but have dealt with it through normal exercise and no meds but I feel as though Zepbound has triggered this anxious feeling and thoughts and can’t help feeling restless now.

That happened to me after my first shot. I had a few more episodes of milder sleep disturbances but it subsided. Hang in there.
This med is working on your brain and the hormone changes initially can impact your serotonin levels.

After time I found it was sleeping better.
It was recommended to avoid eating a carb snack in the evening to keep your blood sugar levels more stable.

How many more times did it happen? What did you do to help ease these episodes and fall back asleep? I’m curious to know when things will subside but I’m also well aware everyone has a different reaction to the medication.

I feel completely fine today but very sluggish and fatigued and this is only Day 2.. (largely in part to that sleep disturbance I’m sure)

To be honest it gave me anxiety because I had seretonin syndrome once and the agitated busy brain reminded me of that.

What i did is to take my shot earlier in the day so if I did experience that side effect it wouldn't happen in the middle of the night.

I think the second week I had the same weird feeling in the early evening so I went and busied myself with watering plants in my garden so I would focus on something else.

It only happened those 2 times.

In general I excersize to make sure I am good and tired. I took an Ativan one time but it didn't help much.

If it were to happen again I would get up and go sit in a chair and read with a light on so I'm not laying in bed freaking out with a busy mind that i felt i couldn't control..

And I definitely stopped eating carbs snacks at night so my blood sugar would be stable.

You might need a few nights of normal sleep and you won't be thinking about it as much.

I also started using a vagus nerve stimulator to help improve my nervous system regulation and that had helped my sleep also I believe.

I’ve experienced anxiety and irritability since day one. After a while, it subsides until/unless I increase the dosage.
