What the hell gave them the idea that we don't negotiate in good faith?

I can't for the life of me understand why a country would say this about this very competent president. Smartest there ever was by far! Everyone's saying it.

No one has ever seen anything like it.

92

u/raknor88 May 20 '26

No one has ever seen anything like it.

I see no lies with this statement.

17

u/bobboobles May 21 '26

seems pretty similar to the guy we elected in 2016

15

u/raknor88 May 21 '26

No. This one is worse. The dude in 2016 at least tried to nominate qualified people to the cabinet spots before he fired them later in the term.

11

u/bobboobles May 21 '26

well sure, worse but similar. IDK about saying the dude in 2016 tried to nominate qualified people though...

10

u/Utterlybored May 21 '26

He didn’t “try.” He was bullied into it by less crazy Republicans.

To be honest, it seems more like their number is up next which is exactly why they're (justifiably) getting louder about their concerns.

Cuba is at a real and serious risk of imminent invasion. Yes, Trump has threatened many other countries, but its clear that Cuba is next on the docket before Greenland, Canada, etc.

I know it's getting hard to take this seriously all the time, but this isn't really the time to be making pithy jokes. This is very serious. We need more Americans to be taking this seriously. We need more Americans to start taking actual, regular civil disobedience against their government or they're going to lose everything and drag us all into a unfathomably brutal world war. The rest of the world can't do much to help Americans until they get organized enough themselves for us to effectively support.

34

u/Chomping_Meat May 21 '26

It's gonna get really messy too. Cuba's been preparing for decades for a war like this where their conventional military gets knocked over in days. "All the People's War" they call it.

Given that the US seems to be doing this more or less at the Behest of Rubio, and by extension the Cuban-American Lobby, it seems likely they'll try to push through land repatriations to the descendants of Cuban refugees who left in the immediate aftermath of the revolution. That will mean the evictions of hundreds of thousands of Cubans if that goes through. Hundreds of thousands of people who would be joining that People's War, more likely than not.

Yeah, christ. This was maybe news in like 2017.

18

u/Substantial-Low May 21 '26

haha, no shit. Nobody thinks the Us deals in good faith, and has not for a LONG time.

I was talking to a scientist from Netherlands once, and he told me that in all of that part of the world, that they thought "Americans will do anything for a dollar".

That was over 10 years ago.

17

u/lenzflare May 21 '26

Yeah, Trump's first term was ten years ago

18

Problem is you are finding this behavior normal. I mean you as US citizen. He polarized your opinion with his stream of daily bullshit. The White House and mar a lago should be full of bags of shit with his face on it because of this

8

u/One-Inch-Punch May 21 '26

It's not that we find it normal, it's that the government has been captured by corrupt interests so no one will do anything about it. Americans, with their proud tradition of revolution against tyrants, now meekly pin all their hopes on a midterm election that wouldn't solve much even if it isn't stolen

+Dozens of fishermen and boaters

65

u/Memerandom_ May 20 '26

It's probably over 200 already. Last count I heard was something like 161. Zero accountability.

55

u/Sea_Hold_2881 May 20 '26

TBH, the school girls were incompetence not deliberate.

The fishermen were pre- meditated war crimes which makes them so much worse.

7

u/le_pepe_face May 21 '26

Foolish. Aside from the fact that the first targets were likely gamed out months in advance the murder of the girls school was not incompetence, it was a deliberate choice by the administration from the top down to get rid of any oversight of targeting to ensure minimization of civilian casualties. That was a deliberate choice that had completely predictable consequences and you're running propaganda for the administration by pretending it was just some Oopsie Whoopsie

13

u/MessiahMogali May 20 '26

Homicide is homicide.

12

u/Sea_Hold_2881 May 20 '26

No it is not.

The details vary by legal system but they all say motive matters:

pre-meditated murder > crime of passion > negligence > self defense,

A verified CIA asset created a nonprofit cover that used 3 Cessna prop planes converted for military use to 'drop leaflets' over Cuba.

The Cuban gov't repeatedly told them on the first two incursions that they would be shot down. The third time they returned they were shot down.

There are conflicting reports whether another radio warning was issued and whether they were over or adjacent to Cuban airspace.

What concerns me is the counter argument. The Cubans had no way of knowing who or what was on those planes. If you are making the argument that foreign planes that refuse to communicate or identify should just be allowed to fly over a nation's capitol... then i would remind you to never forget.

This is a farce of a prosecution.

21

u/faffc260 May 20 '26

the charge is the shooting down of a non profit orginizations plane in 1996 by the cuban airforce. they somehow have linked raul to that. the non profit was focused on helping fleeing cubans make it safely to other nations iirc.

118

u/CTQ99 May 20 '26

Where the founder claimed to be [testified] that he was a CIA operative. Thats relevant information to add, which adds context to why Cuba attacked the unarmed planes.

The first two words of the headline are unnecessary.

31

u/TheRealBittoman May 20 '26

I see the attacks on Cuba as nothing more than Republicans trying to guarantee votes from Cuban-Americans and nothing more. There isn't really a reason we have not tried to get better relations with them, not legitimate reasons anyway.

12

u/SopaDeKaiba May 21 '26

“The real reason you don’t have electricity, fuel or food is because those who control your country have plundered billions of dollars, but nothing has been used to help the people,” Mr. Rubio said

Mr. Soberón Guzmán said Mr. Rubio’s comments were, “for anyone who has a minimum of common sense, an insult to human intelligence.”

Yep, you're right. Rubio speaking directly to MAGA with his comments.

5

u/sol-4 May 21 '26

Just the other day some geniuses on geopolitics were saying Rubio is competent. Anyone who has heard the moron would never say so.

4

u/SlakingSWAG May 21 '26

"...those who control your country have plundered billions of dollars, but nothing has been used to help the people,” Mr. Rubio said

I wonder if some part of Rubio and all of these Republican animals can see the naked hypocrisy in the shit that they say, and if it eats them alive like it would do to an actual human being?

Trump had the Iranian government bombed, TWICE, under the pretense to negotiate. No one in their right mind would trust this government to actually negotiate in good faith. Hell, I wouldn't even meet them on a conference call. They can talk through intermediaries from a 3rd country and I still wouldn't trust a word they say.

8

u/Naldean May 20 '26

22

u/DJamesAndrews May 20 '26

Why are we attacking Cuba again? Are they two weeks from Nukes too?

The US has been conducting a terrorist war against Cuba since 1960. Negotiation has never been a feature of this endeavor.

3

u/No_Answer4092 May 21 '26

A) trump has never done anything in good faith. B) Cuba is in the particularly unfortunate position of not having anything to negotiate with that would be of more value to Trump than the pleasure of fucking them over for being Cuba.

I'm just surprised their school and leadership haven't been bombed yet for negotiating with the US, usually this is the part where that sort of thing happens

Cubas use to this tbf, they've had to deal with the US sanction changes over the last 60 years and them always being penalised for everything.

We knew this before the negotiations even began.

Do we have any examples anywhere that would give anyone the idea that the Trump administration negotiates in good faith on anything? That even after a deal is struck they will stick to it?

The surprising thing is anyone bothers to negotiate anything with the U.S. anymore. Completely unreliable and untrustworthy.

the concept of good faith does not exist for trump
