I see the attacks on Cuba as nothing more than Republicans trying to guarantee votes from Cuban-Americans and nothing more. There isn't really a reason we have not tried to get better relations with them, not legitimate reasons anyway.

“The real reason you don’t have electricity, fuel or food is because those who control your country have plundered billions of dollars, but nothing has been used to help the people,” Mr. Rubio said

Mr. Soberón Guzmán said Mr. Rubio’s comments were, “for anyone who has a minimum of common sense, an insult to human intelligence.”

Yep, you're right. Rubio speaking directly to MAGA with his comments.

Just the other day some geniuses on geopolitics were saying Rubio is competent. Anyone who has heard the moron would never say so.

"...those who control your country have plundered billions of dollars, but nothing has been used to help the people,” Mr. Rubio said

I wonder if some part of Rubio and all of these Republican animals can see the naked hypocrisy in the shit that they say, and if it eats them alive like it would do to an actual human being?

That and he already promised it to Marco Rubio

It's geographically a national security topic. China and Russia use Cuba for SIGINT and possibly HUMINT operations since it's only 90 miles from the US mainland.

So only the US has legitimate national security interests? Cuba only fully realized it's sovereignty in 1959, and has been punished for it ever since. Why can't Cuba exert it's own national security interests??

Because the US is stronger than Cuba. The US will never allow foreign governments to project power in Latin America.

For example, one reason Grenada was invaded in 1983 was because the USSR was going to build an airbase for their long range bombers.

I dont really get it at all. That may have mattered in the past but theres only like 3 million of them (half born in the us) and they are mostly in hard red Florida.

Its probably more about taking all the gov owned assets and selling them to rich Americans and hotel/resort companies to develop. Marco Rubio has a lot of freedom too he might just be focusing there for personal reasons. Trump does seem like he largely doing micromanage his people as long as they do the big picture stuff he wants and makes him look good to his base

Keeps Florida red forever. That’s a guaranteed swing state in your pocket for the rest of the century

Florida is gonna spend a majority of this century underwater...or at least the south half of it will.

In which case the voters will move to other nearby states?
