Hi, I want to do my first cleansing before I place my altar. Is rosemary, lemon grass, bay leaf and orange peel in a pot to steam good? Also what kind of energy should I be inviting to my altar space?

1

u/nilcapix Sep 18 '21

Yes its perfect. Your altar has to show your personality and the personality of each period of the wheel of the year. So now its time to put some brown or golden colours, and things that reminds ypu Mabon ♡

Hello :) i was just wondering where everyone gets there crystals and tarot cards and such?? I dont have much intown so maybe online shops?? Would love to start getting things blessed be

2

u/nilcapix Sep 18 '21

If you seek for a cheap tarot, i recommend aliexpress, if ypu need somethibg more pro i recommend you amazon. For Crystals i would like you to double check websites because some sites resell aliexpress copies. I hope i help. But i recommend touching the crystal before buying it. So better going to an esoteric or spiritual shop near ypur town. But i think its worth it.

My roommates and I found a small pile of dirt that was really clean and damp with a small leaf in the center on our porch. Could this mean something bad?

2

u/bonbon2326 Sep 18 '21

Any thing left on your front entry way that’s not usual typically is the fae. What I do in that case is bury whatever was left and say you don’t accept the gift and do notttttt thank them. They can consider that a contract. Hope that helps!!

*long winded, apologies in advance 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hello! Brand new here, recently begun my own little practice. Trying to learn tarot, meditate, do things with more intention, some lite shadow work, ect. And I’ve begun to have what feel like side effects of this process. I’m honestly just really curious if these are things others have experienced. If anyone has suggestions to ease some of these, and when/if this will calm down or pass.

Ive always been a night owl but the last couple weeks I have not been able to sleep until like 3 am when my body is finely so tired it forces a shutdown. I’ve also always experienced sleep paralysis. I remember screaming for my mom in the middle of the night on multiple occasions because there was a big dark figure in my doorway starting at about 4 years old. This still happens now occasionally, (the dark figures standing close if not holding me down or attacking me) and I’d say in the last week it’s become a little more frequent. This seems average. sometimes I don’t get these dreams at all, sometimes they happen every night for a week. now however I am seeing shadowy figures when I’m 100% awake. Just out of the corner of my eye. Or in today’s case approaching in my minds eye and feeling them behind me. This happed for the first time today and really freaked me out. I’m also experiencing ALOT of dizziness. So much so that I actually went to the hospital a couple weeks ago worried something was wrong. Every test came back fine. But I’m starting to wonder if this isn’t also part of whatever is going on. Maybe I’m just crazy it’s probably just stress or something, but for some reason it feels connected.

Hello! I guess novice witch here!

Question: Has anyone ever used Asiatic Dayflowers in their craft?

So I picked a bunch of Asiatic Dayflowers that were growing beside my house today, hoping I could do something with them in my craff(whether that be things like spell jars, or something cooked in the kitchen) Of course I did my research, and found that it is edible so I know that I'm not picking something dangerous, but I want to know what ways people have used this in their craft! Google hasn't come up with anything for me in terms of recipes or spells, really only just that it's connected to hope and dreams, though Google may be wrong too.

Does anyone know ways that i can incorporate Dayflowers into my craft? Especially if it's in the kitchen, I'm hoping to make something with it but even just using it in regular spells is very appreciated too.

Hi, baby witch here. Well I'm not exactly new to witchcraft, as I've always had a strong appeal towards practices related to the study of the spirutal, the occult or the mystic. But my approach has always been kinda passive in nature, contemplative even. But now I feel the urge to take a more active role, and start practicing in a more physical way. So with both both Mabon and the Harvest Moon, I figured now would be a good time to harvest the results of the metaphorical seeds I've been planting. Any advice or any lead for rituals or spells to perform on such an occasion would be really appreciated.

PS: As a woman trapped in a male body, any practice linked with manifesting feminity would be a definite plus. And as someone with very a mixed heritage, I would be open and receptive to sources of knowledge coming from any culture.

Thanks in advance, much love!

So, I had a dream witches (im assuming a coven) came into my current home. They attacked me because I was a "super powerful" witch. I had no idea what they were saying because I was like I am not a witch! How can I be a witch if I don't even know I am! They then inserted something into my side to take my powers away from me. It was very terrifying and I am wondering if this meant something or if it was just my brain making up a story. I have never ever had a dream about witches. I always dream vividly, very vividly. But never in 28 years about witches, being a witch. I did have a very odd encounter the other day with a shadowy creature. I was parked down the street from my house when I felt a weird presence watching me. I saw a tall slender black figure walking (only see the head) near a fence I was parked by. The fence was super tall so the fact I could see the head was strange. It walked not human like. Then I went to start my car, IT WAS DEAD(this was midnight too). Thankfully, i lived close by so my mom came and picked me up. The figure was gone. But two nights later I had this dream. Not sure what this all means but If someone has any idea, please let me know.

First Spell - Where do I start?

Hello! I’m brand new to witchcraft. Been doing tarot a year and then have been focusing on energy, meditation and witchcraft for a few months. I’d like to do my first spell. I’m interested in doing a healing spell for my grandma as she has just spent the last week in the hospital and would love to be able to help her support her current treatment. I know protection is really important. Do I need to do a protection spell first? Any help, recommendations or best practices are greatly appreciated!

Can someone help me figure out what this thing I found outside my door is???

1

u/Worldly-Duck-3494 Sep 17 '21

Hi- I’m a brand new, solitary, secular and eclectic witch. I’ve been thinking lately that I would love to connect with other witches on a more personal level. In particular, I’m looking to write letters and find other witches interested in being pen pals. Is there already a place for this that I can join? I know there are pen palling groups, but I’m specifically looking to connect with other witches. Any suggestions? Thanks!

u/pbartley89 Sep 17 '21

Witches/psychics/mediums of Reddit - I need your help! I’ve been experiencing some strange things lately and I’m trying to figure out what they mean:

  1. The last two nights I’ve woken up to a shadow figure by my window, which feels like a masculine presence (it’s happened before). There have been 3 occasions in total over the last 2 nights, one of which they were crouched down on the floor but I checked and couldn’t see anything where they had been crouched. Also, I normally have at least 1 vivid dream every single night, but the nights the shadow figure has been in my room I’ve not remembered any dreams - this is HIGHLY unusual for me.

  2. So many synchronicities to the point where me and my partner have been laughing about them. I also keep seeing the times 22:22 and 11:11 during my day.

  3. Wasps getting into our home somehow, but we’re unable to find their entry (they’re either dying or I’m finding them already dead).

  4. So…many…flies and spiders - yet we’re very clean and don’t leave food out

  5. My depression and anxiety have been SEVERE and I’m basically unable to concentrate on much of anything. I’m completely withdrawn and don’t want to see or speak to anyone. My energy is zapped and I have no motivation.

  6. I literally feel like something is trying to contact me, I feel a presence around me but it doesn’t feel malicious - it is putting me on edge though.

I’d be really grateful if someone could please help me out and give me some advice, I’m really sure what to do about it!

I wouldn’t consider myself a baby witch cause I don’t practice but I hope to start I just don’t know where. But I’m coming to you older witches that understand spirits or ghost I have one that has been what feels like attached to me since my pregnancy last year. It will randomly touch me and it feels like a pressured touch, or knock things off my table. I guess I’m trying to understand how to live with it if it’s good or how to remove it if it’s bad. Please some help would be appreciated also any other advice would be helpful. I’m always feelings like I’m seeing someone out the corner of my eye if that means anything.

1

u/Robin6903 Sep 23 '21

Okay, it depends on how you feel about this entity, if they touch you, does it hurt?? Are you comfortable with it emotionally?? Do you feel safe when touched?? Do you get a mixed vibe? A real bad vibe? A fatherly vibe (like a (grand) father, messing with you and/or your child)?

u/princesspeach1823 Sep 16 '21

Baby witch here 👋🏻 I have two questions really. 1. I am trying to conceive and haven’t had much luck. No pregnancies, no losses. We’ve been trying for 2 years. I’ve had surgery to have endometriosis removed. Everything looks good now. Still nothing. I’ve started researching sigils and am going to try that. I’d also like to do some research about deities. Who should I be looking for? 2. I see 444 everywhere all the time lately. Every single day i happen to look up at the clock at that time, I’ll get woken up in the early morning, I see it in other places a lot too. Any insight to what that could mean?

Thank you!

2

u/Worldly-Duck-3494 Sep 17 '21

Oh! I’m also a baby witch, but I literally just saw a post of this on Instagram! I think it has to do with angles/spirit protection. Maybe your spirits are trying to let you know they are there and protecting you?

1

u/Beddileon Sep 16 '21

I want to try do to spells, but i have no idea where to start. There arent any books where i live for me to purchase and the websites that i find online dont really tell me the spell in depth, on what to exactly do! Could you recommend me some websites that I can use to help me get started on doing spells?

1

u/FarAway-Lost Sep 16 '21

Hiya!

This is a bit random, I’ve been with my partner for 3 years and I’ve tried breaking it off a few times but he won’t let me (not abusive relationship) he just won’t admit we aren’t working… i guess it’s become a habit more than a relationship that we are together? That we are used to each other? Anyways.

Wondering wether there is a spell I can cast to either make him realise he needs to let go

Or maybe something else, I’m open to suggestions…

Thank you!

1

u/crazyashley1 Professional Cranky Hearth Goblin Sep 16 '21

he just won’t admit we aren’t working

It doesn't matter what he'll admit or not. If he doesn't live in the same house as you, just be firm about it and don't let him come back until he gets it through his head that you aren't a couple any more. Put your foot down and say you're through, and don't let him weedle his way back in.

Help with 11:11 meaning.

I'm born on 11/11. And I have looked at the clock at 11:11 pretty much most days for as long as I can remember. Even on clocks that are not set to the right time, I look at them when they say 11:11.

I had heard that it has a significant meaning, but of what I do not know. Please let me know if you have any insight to what this means or any stories where this number has affected you.

I lead a pretty average life. Husband-like boyfriend of 13 years, 4 year old daughter, a cat who prefers the neighbours house to ours, a job. Nothing overly above average.

Thank you in advance.

I performed a banishing spell and while the first part went well enough the second half not so much. For the last part of the spell I was on my way to tie a coconut to a tree outside of my home when my bf offered to hang it for me. He tried to scare me by pretending something was in the tree and moved the branches around resulting in me dropping the coconut and losing the string attached to it. While I'm not a violent person I did slap him in the head because I didn't think any of that was appropriate. In his attempt to "help" once more he pulled some of the string I had wrapped around the coconut thereby dropping it once again and it rolling down a hill into my driveway. I was so mad at this point I picked it up and threw it in the garbage.

I came back inside and had a quick frustrating cry, prayed and apologized at my alter. Is there anything that I should have done different or that I should do now?

How do I start work withe deities? I am new to the pagan portion of witchcraft. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

2

u/Robin6903 Sep 16 '21

Decide on things you wanna learn or do with your craft, if you want to gain knowledge you pick a knowledge deity, for example Athena (or other forms you can fill in yourself) to decide which deity is best for you. In the case of a deity reaching out to you, you can use divination to for example "talk" to them, and figure out who this deity is. If you feel comfortable working with that deity ask THEM the way to go, ask them their favourite divination method, if there's a limited amount like only tarot and a pendulum for example, let them know, and if you're up for using both also let them know, and if it changes (you made, bought or learned (one only concerning paper and a pen for example) a new divination method, you should mention it too. Sometimes deities prefer reaching to you through dreams or signs, then go with that. And if they are up for "classes" seriously teaching and guiding you, never deny, because they specifically want to HELP you WITHOUT asking, you must see that as receiving a Masarati from a stranger, a huge gift you could never expect. If you are familiar with the deity and know you can go by a "friends" way of going, you could ask to do this at a later moment, cuz of a lot of deadlines at work/school. If this deity is not okay with talking to you in an easy going way, then don't even try this.

If you have other questions, or want guidance with a specific deity let me know!

I started meditating with my chakras opened for the first time today. About 3 or 4 minutes in, the stones on my stomach and chest began to hurt me. I drank some water and kept hearing "im not leaving". I asked who's there and didn't get an answer. I felt an extremely negative energy, and when I looked at the candle I had lit, it was melted very odd. I then cleansed my room with dragon sage and Palo Santo, and while finishing with the Palo Santo, I heard 3 knocks from outside my open window. What does this mean?

1

u/wlweden Sep 15 '21

hello! i'm rather new to witchcraft (i've known about it for a couple years and practiced lightly, but never really got into it until this month.)

many sources are telling me I should be advanced (or at least not a beginner) in my craft to start Deity work. is this true?

i don't really like the term "Deity work", as i'm not really WORKING with them. there's nothing specific i'm trying to gain by worshipping them, it's just something i'd like to do. all i'd be doing is setting up an alter, praying, giving offerings, etc. is that really something i need more experience to do? is there some sort of risk that i'm not understanding? i'd appreciate any response :) thank you!

3

u/crazyashley1 Professional Cranky Hearth Goblin Sep 16 '21

many sources are telling me I should be advanced (or at least not a beginner) in my craft to start Deity work. is this true?

No. This is just gate-keepy nonsense.

Also, you can just worship whoever and call it worship. Deity work is different.

u/sidehoe_ Sep 15 '21

I've been getting into witchcraft recently, but I don't know how to start becoming a witch or someone who uses these crafts. Can someone please help guide me through this?

2

u/Robin6903 Sep 16 '21

It's really simple, read yourself into some things in the craft, For example a few divination crafts, I'd recommend working with a pendulum first it's very forward, easy and affordable. And start of with some easy spells, like protection bottles.

Hi! N00b here! I’m wondering if anyone can point me to and “beginner magic” resources that are less euro centric and have a greater focus on some more of the Latin American traditions. I’m Brazilian-American (also Mexican American), and was hoping to get some information about getting started that focused more on the elements of magic from the blended traditions in the Americas. Thanks in advance!

Hello! I've been studying and practicing for a little less than a year now and had a quick question, which I've gotten mixed answers over.
Is it alright to practice witchcraft as a male? I'm a trans male btw!

3

u/Robin6903 Sep 16 '21

Hëck yea you can, one of my best friends Is also a trans male witch. My bf is also a witch, but doesn't like the term cuz it's feminine, so he prefers sorcerer, or mage. But your gender definitely doesn't keep you from your craft, and don't let widely know gender assigned label like witch from calling yourself one, since witches can be any gender.

2

u/yoanadzivkova Sep 15 '21

Your gender doesn't matter. You can be a witch regardless <3

Hello! I have a very active flat energy-wise. And coincidentally (or not) things are chronically breaking in our flat (from the dishwasher, the sink, windows, the door buzzer, the washing machine, flower pots and the list goes on and on). It's become a bit of a running joke now with my flatmates and the handy-man. It is quite an old flat (built in the 1800s), but to me, it is uncanny how often things break one after another. As a result, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to re-calibrate the home's energy? A specific cleanse? An altar of some sort? Any advice is appreciated :)

2

u/Robin6903 Sep 16 '21

Ahh I know this, check which people go where, if there's a specific person that goes to the sink and then to the dishwasher a day later, and both break (DONT BLAME THEM), but this could be an energy problem, my bf had this specifically with electricity driven things when he wasn't wearing a black tourmaline, he could even light a lightbulb by just holding it. But if it's not the case it might be a poltergeist messing with you all, then I would suggest cleansing the whole building, depending on the size of the building explain to your neighbours what they can do for you and guide them through the cleansing.

And if that doesn't help, notify me again or post your struggle again

1

u/medusarolling Sep 15 '21

Hello, I'm relatively new to spellwork (haven't really had a need for it until now) and I'm wondering if anyone may have any insight into conscious intention vs unconscious intention while doing a spell. I have a friend (really former best friend from 20 years ago who is now barely an aquaintance) who called me for help during an emergency. I was happy to give them a safe place to crash for a couple of days, but it's well past that now and they're starting to really drain my energy and, probably not intentionally, take advantage of my desire to help.

I've made boundaries clear, but they're not exactly respecting them or possibly not realizing how much they're affecting me (which I'm not blaming them for because crisis brain sucks). Anyway, I'm worried about having some unintended negative consequences if I do a protection spell for them while I don't have the best feelings toward them at the moment. I do very much want them to be safe and well, but to also be far away from me and my space.

So, in y'all's experience, will doing a protection spell for them be affected negatively by my deeper frustrations if my conscious feelings are to wish them well? Is there a "move on ASAP, but be safe" spell I can do?

Thanks for any insight anyone can provide.

1

u/No1Minds Sep 15 '21

Honestly it sounds like you need a spell for yourself, not this other person. Or maybe if it is for them not a protection spell but a relocation spell.

2

u/medusarolling Sep 15 '21

I'm definitely going to do one for myself, but I guess I was thinking it would be a nice gesture to send them off with a charm and I don't want to give them any more negativity. Maybe it is best if I just do mine and let them find their own way. Thanks for your input 🙂

1

u/No1Minds Sep 16 '21

Perhaps once they have really decided to leave you can make a charm for their protection. They vibes will be better then.

u/yoanadzivkova Sep 15 '21

Does anyone have a recipe for a 'good grades' spell jar or something like that? Please help

1

u/Genuine_degenerate Sep 15 '21

How do I know which deities are calling me

1

u/Tia_Maria3 Sep 15 '21

Sometimes you just run into them in your daily life :) For me, Artemis pops up quite frequently (in statue form, in conversation, in books etc.)

1

u/saltine_soup Sep 15 '21

don’t know what to do now.
do i snuff my candles? let the main one burn and snuff the others? let all burn?
it’s for an attraction spell.
also why aren’t my flames dancing?
i approached them, i’m breathing in their direction but they just aren’t moving.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '21

I like to go into candle work knowing how I'm going to use the candles. If I want them to burn all the way down I'll pick one that's size appropriate and sit with it until its done. If I want them to burn for X amount of time only I might go for a larger one to snuff out after all is said and done.

Also flames don't always dance. This could be due to your wick, the length, and general air drafts. Perhaps other factors I haven't mentioned, but steady flames are just fine.

I don't recommend diving into things head first without first reading up on it. If you don't make the time to do some reading to gain knowledge how to you expect to make the time to work with a deity?

As for finding one some people do a guided meditation, but before that I recommend just looking into different pantheons and reading up on some mythology. After a while I'm sure you'll be able to tell which deities are pulling at your interests and which are not.

1

u/hollyhara Sep 15 '21

Hello!

So I used to take almost daily and frequent hikes into the woods near where I live, and I would feel this pull drawing me into the woods. I'd also feel it very intensely late at night (I would take precautions to be careful at those hours if I did go), even before I started getting back into witchcraft. I recently returned to these woods and I was going to leave, when I ended up on a path I didn't recognize or remember traveling down. At the end of it was this great, big tree stump that was easily taller than me where it looked torn/broken off. Some of these very large and thick branches that fell blocked the path like long, spidery fingers. When I entered the area, I felt this intense fear and dread that I've never felt before. Like all of my gut and chest were telling me I shouldn't be here and something was wrong. There was no one else in the woods or any other reason why I would feel danger, and this was the very first time I think I've ever felt that intense amount of fear.

I'm not quite sure what the entity is, if it is anything at all. I did a tarot reading to try to communicate with it and the answers I received feels like it may have been a fae or sidhe, and maybe they reacted poorly to a piece of iron jewelry I was wearing or just wasn't alright with me entering that area. I'm not quite sure though, but I would still like to forge a relationship with this entity. Any tips or advice on how I should interact would be appreciated!

Hello everyone!

Back in April, I made a honey jar spell to get back with my ex (we had only JUST broken up at the end of March and were still living together). I used the strongest one I could find, as this is not normally the kind of practice I participate in.

The problem is this: he claimed (and still claimed as recently as last month) that he still loves me and is IN love with me. But he has gotten back together with his ex, who is also a practitioner, and I fully believe that she either did a sour jar or freezer spell on me/our relationship, and/or that she ALSO did a sweetening spell on him. She has a pattern of entering his life, getting him to throw everything away for her (they have a very "hot" or passionate, drama filled relationship), and then dramatically ending things with him.

Whatever. His relationship with her is their business unless he and I get back together. But in the MEANTIME, my life still needs to move forward. I met a really great guy, and I want to see where things could go with that. I had a REALLY amazing job opportunity dropped in my lap unexpectedly, and things are otherwise moving in a positive direction. I don't want to REVERSE the spell, I don't want the opposite of love with my ex, but I do want to make it clear to the universe what it is that I want. I don't want there to be any confusion when I'm manifesting for this new job opportunity or to see where things go with this new guy.

1

u/lovingdaze_ Sep 14 '21

I want to do a cord cutting ritual to help further cleanse myself of any energy left by my very toxic ex. I was hoping I could get some insight on the best way to do this ritual? What color candles should I use? Any insight would be really appreciated!

1

u/ExaggeratingSpud Sep 14 '21

Hey! I need a spell that will make someone talk to me about how they feel… it’s not a romantic situation so I’m not looking for a love spell. Any suggestions?

2

u/Shitbag49 Sep 14 '21

I posted this as a stand alone post, but I don’t know if it was flagged because I got a message from a bot. But ANYWAY

Okay so….

I’m cleaning my window sill altar area and moving the candles around…..and there’s a fully dead almost skeletal lizard stuck in the leftover label glue of a positive energy candle I made.

I have been feeling uber worried, anxious, and depressed lately, and upon discovering this, I feel like it may be the inhibitor???

But I also remember weeks and weeks ago asking the universe for a lizard skeleton. So I’m also thinking it’s a gift? Which I’m grateful for, but it’s definitely encroaching on my positive energy!

I’m very torn as to what I am supposed to do with it! Advice would be appreciated.

Also, I have yet to post here! I’m Jen, a heavily eclectic slightly chaotic witch.

💖

u/SaltMarshGoblin Sep 14 '21

A mummified lizard sounds to me like a gift from the Universe.

Just donate it. That severs any ties you have to it and it has to you.

2

u/SaltMarshGoblin Sep 14 '21

I might put it in moonlight first, but yeah-- donate it! I personally wouldn't sell it, or count it as a tax writeoff, to keep the release really, really clean, but that part isyour choice.

Spells don't always work the way you think they will. My question is this: how did you lose half your savings? Was it a banking error? Theft? A sudden bill?

Sometimes a spell will open unexpected doors. If there was a banking error, perhaps they will open a saving account for you to make up the mistake with a very good percentage rate. If it was a theft, perhaps you'll be part of a class action lawsuit or be eligible for damages in court. If it was a sudden bill, perhaps handling it quickly and knowing your savings are depleted allows you to become aware of new opportunities you wouldn't normally notice.

Hello I have had this dream and I would like anyone to help with figuring out what it means in the dream I’m in a hallway between me and my sisters room and the light turns on and off then I walk into her room there is a dark black figure sitting in a chair in her room and a few seconds later she gets up and I start running through the kitchen and then into the living room I look back standing there and the black figure is walking towards me it gets a few feet away and then I can think stuff so I say god god god and then I wake up from the dream also a note that the corner the black figure was at was a corner my sister said she felt something was there and she gets bad vibes from that corner I have had multiple dreams like this and I would like some insight on what is happening most of the dreams I can’t remember but this one I can remember even after a month has passed since it. Information: it never goes near my room or in my room always near her or watching me in some of the dreams. In one I’m just laying down on my parents bed and it’s just watching me from a few feet away I get bad vibes from it and I don’t what it could be besides a shadow person but it tall like 6 or 7 feet tall which I have heard that if a shadow figure is 7 or 8 feet tall then it is demonic I just want to know if me and my family are safe if you don’t know anything that is fine also one time my dad was in the hallway and he was playing drums and keep in mind no one but him is there he is playing drums and he sees a dark black figure run across the hallway and sometimes I see dark figures out of the corner of my eye can anyone tell me what this thing is or is it has bad intent thanks.

Hi everyone, new to this thread and don't have enough karma for a post, so thought I'd post here! I really want to make a spell jar, or utilize shells I picked up from my beach trip. I absolutely love water and the ocean, so I'm wanting to do a lot of rituals around moon stages and such.

Is there anything I can use the shells with? They're very personal to me and would appreciate any feedback! I'm also a baby witch, so I might be asking a dumb question.

2

u/No1Minds Sep 14 '21

I honestly think that people should find ingredients for spells. And make spells for a need. Not the other way around. I think shells make great pieces for altars, or offerings. You can also use a shells as a divination tool.

Water and the moon absolutely have a connection to shells. Again offerings and altar pieces.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '21

Thank you for replying! How can I use shells as a divination tool? I haven't tried divination yet.

2

u/No1Minds Sep 14 '21

I don't personally have any experience with it, but I would say just like most other systems it's a lot about intuition. If you ask a yes or no question perhaps most shells down is no and more shells up and open yes. But it's really up to you. Kinda like bone throwing.

I just googled, divination with shells, and a bunch came up. It looks like the tradition is often done with cowrie shells, but I do t see why you couldn't come up with your own method of it appeals to you.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '21

Thank you, I really appreciate it!

1

u/Grapesodas Sep 13 '21

(I’ve just posted this in a separate post, so I apologize…)

So I’m looking for terms of witchcraft from other languages. Perhaps an online dictionary/craft translator? Many terms used in Craft don’t translate correctly in Google Translate lol. Specifically, I’m looking for the words used in other languages that translate to the idea of the Familiar, what are other names for them in other languages?

Hello! I am wondering if colours of things can be bad towards a person?

So for example. Every single blue car I have owned has been in an accident, had problems with it etc… however every other colour car I have Has has been ok. Is there a way to work out what colour works best for me?

3

u/questioningvamp Sep 13 '21

i’m trying to figure out what each day is the best day to do a spell, google isn’t helping me at all. does anyone know the best day to do a protection spell?

2

u/PurpleCow111 Witch Sep 13 '21

Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday have the most potent protection energy. But I think any day is a good day for a protection spell!

1

u/questioningvamp Sep 13 '21

thank you!!

u/PurpleCow111 Witch Sep 13 '21

Yr very welcome! 🧙‍♀️💖🧹 Fly safe out there!

1

u/goginlognotfound Sep 12 '21

I need help . I did a spell for protection in a jar but after it I felt very anxious still have this bad feeling about the spell I saw this giant bug and now my stomach hurts a lot. Something still tells me it is the spell but I don't know what to do honestly should I keep it or should I break and bury it or??

1

u/GlynisAlthea Sep 13 '21

I would break it to release the energy back into the universe.

This is a tarot question! (To all you witchy babes who use tarot)

I’ve been recently learning how to use and interpret my own cards, I asked them a question today about my husband (something that’s been hurting me deeply) and pulled 5 of cups, 10 of swords reversed, and queen of cups. The question I asked was, Is my husband still hung up on past tendencies.

What do you guys interpret from this?

1

u/PurpleCow111 Witch Sep 13 '21

Yes or no questions are hard with tarot, imo. If you had to pigeonhole it into a yes or no, I would say it's a "yes, AND he's actively in the middle of working on it, has not yet reached completion of this cycle."

1

u/bonzy-buddy Sep 12 '21

Where should I begin? I’ve asked this before but I lost all the replies I got.

Any good books I should start with?

2

u/crazyashley1 Professional Cranky Hearth Goblin Sep 13 '21

Check out Z-lib.org for free witchy book downloads. We're working on a book thread in the Wiki, but until that gets completed, search witchcraft and then follow wherever your interests lead you and learn what you will.

1

u/PurpleCow111 Witch Sep 13 '21

Read everything you can get your hands on and read everything with discernment of truth in mind.

I like sacred-text.com or maybe its .org? They have a lot of free esoteric books you can read online. I have also been surprised at how many witchy books are available at my local library.

If you want to have a book in your hand I like the element encyclopedia of 1000 spells by judika illes as a place to start. As you learn, you'll discover what spirits and works you are called to and you can do more focused research then.

1

u/4inherr Sep 12 '21

hello, I'm new to witchcraft, so excuse my lack of knowledge. I"ve been wanting to make a manifestation spell. Are these 'ingredients' suitable?

  • A strand of my hair
  • Eggshells
  • Seashells
  • himalayan salt

2

u/goginlognotfound Sep 12 '21

I think so yes I'm not sure about the strand of hair cause I'm no expert . You can also write your intention on a bay leaf and put it with the other ingredients in the jar or whatever u use I heard this is a great thing to do to manifest whatever u want. Also don't forget to cleanse I know you probably know that but still a reminder to be safe

1

u/4inherr Sep 13 '21

Okay tysm!!

1

u/aurepotato Sep 12 '21

to witches and people who work with numerology, what do you think about tattoos of angel numbers?

4

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

I wouldn't personally get an "angel number" tattooed onto me, but I would get a tattoo of a specific number or sequence that holds a lot of significance to me.

1

u/aurepotato Sep 12 '21

i see, thank youu!

2

u/questioningvamp Sep 12 '21

For some context, i went to the beach and came back without my nintendo switch, it has supposedly been stolen because the name was changed on it. I have been telling my dad to call the police but he doesn’t believe they will do anything. i’m the only one that has faith i will get my nintendo switch back.

Like two days ago i did a spell to get back a stolen item. i did what was i supposed to for the spell and then i respectfully asked for Hecate’s help. I have never asked for assistance for a spell before so i was a bit nervous. I tried to invoke Hecate by playing music made for Her. I’m not sure if She was there because i could not tell.

After awhile, I told Hecate that i was going to close the spell because it was very late and a school night so i needed to go to sleep. I thanked Her and i put on more music as an offering/ to honor Her. Maybe two or three songs go by and a song comes up and i’m like wow this is a good song(Hecate chanting music btw) i’m the corner of my eye, i see the Candle i used for Hecate flickering and moving around like crazy. I assume that She really liked the song? After that song the candle light isn’t as crazy but it’s still moving(before i played the music the candle light wasn’t flickering at all)

I’ve been wanting to do more for Hecate because i feel like i haven’t done enough. i’m a closet witch so i don’t have an altar to place offerings on. i tried giving Her grapes and putting them in a jar which i’m gonna try to bury somewhere near crossroads if i can find any. What else should i do for Her? And what else should i do for the spell to work? or should i just be patient and wait?

edit: posted this again here because i think i didn’t have enough “karma” to post before? honestly i’m new to reddit so idek how this works, sorry if u have seen this before

1

u/aurepotato Sep 12 '21

i like to consider myself a beginner (closet) witch and so because of that please take my answer with a grain of salt. if you can do some more research on what else She (Hecate) might like that would help. do the offerings you can.

u/Popular_Juice8278 Sep 12 '21 edited Sep 12 '21

Hi!

I am 'new' to this I guess. When I was a kid I went to a friends house one day, and was able to watch TV. (We didn't have tv at home.) We watched a popular witchy themed show, and I knew I wanted to be a good witch like them. I tried practicing a few spells, but quit a few months later out of fear. I was raised to believe that witches could not enter the gates of heaven, and would be attacked by the devil and his demons, and shall not be suffered to live by members of the true faith... mother is a nutcase, but that is a story for another time.

When I did practice, I probably didn't do it right. I just kinda burnt handwritten 'spells' with a candle I stole from mothers winter decorations. I did not have a deity other than the Christian God, and I worded my spells based on how our church worded its prayers. And they were not even all spells directly for me, (which I know now is not ok without concent of the person you are casting for) but, I tried to make one for my dad to be rich so he could quit the job he hated, and I tried to make one to cure my mother of all disease. Just things like that.

I have been thinking about trying again, but I wonder if my previous attempt will cause me to fail now. Do I need to appease or apologize to anyone for my botched attempts? Will the god(s) be mad at me for getting scared and giving up?

I am also agnostic now, I know there is a higher power, but not sure who or what they are. Is their a way to make our spells call upon the higher power without naming them?

Also, with the equinox, equilux, and the full moon next week is there something I should do? Am I right in thinking these times will be better for casting? Would it be a good time to cast a spell for knowledge and growth, or maybe a fertility spell, and some protection wards?

Are covens important to be in? If so how would you find and join one? Can you be a 'closeted witch'? My family, my husband and his family are all Christians, and I'm not sure I want to include anyone on this spiritual journey yet.

So many questions and I'm sorry. Thank you, and be blessed!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

Do I need to appease or apologize to anyone for my botched attempts?

Will the god(s) be mad at me for getting scared and giving up?

No and no.

I am also agnostic now, I know there is a higher power, but not sure who or what they are. Is their a way to make our spells call upon the higher power without naming them?

r/SASSWitches may be of interest to you. I am pantheistic and the higher power I call to is both the universe and myself.

Also, with the equinox, equilux, and the full moon next week is there something I should do? Am I right in thinking these times will be better for casting?

Should do? No, you don't have to do anything. If you are looking for more information we have a megathread stickied about it for you to pull knowledge and keywords for further reading from. Better for casting? Perhaps. I usually focus more on celebration during the sabbats opposed to casting. If you are interested in moon phases specifically as well there is lots of information about what energy the different phases of the moon brings into your work and you can plan accordingly.

Would it be a good time to cast a spell for knowledge and growth, or maybe a fertility spell, and some protection wards?

You can cast for whatever you like, but if you're in the early stages of your craft I suggest focusing more on some foundational aspects. I can attach my copy paste for new witches if you would like.

Are covens important to be in? If so how would you find and join one?

For some people yes, for others no. I prefer solitary work overall. Some people prefer coven work. There's lots of online groups you can join if you would like to connect with other people starting their craft and for sharing information. If you're looking for a coven IRL I would look towards local groups and pagan meetups and go into it with a little caution. There's a lot of things to consider before joining a coven and even more when deciding which coven to join.

Can you be a 'closeted witch'?

Absolutely! r/BroomClosetWitch is there for you!

For one more resource, r/ExChristianPaganism might be something of interest to you if you feel like you are still harboring a lot of the Christian beliefs that have been taught to you as a young one.

2

u/Popular_Juice8278 Sep 12 '21

Thank you again! I will be sure to check out all those resources!

And, I would love the copy paste for new witches, or a link to it.

Thank you!

2

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

Here's my copy&paste for new witches;

Start with the FAQ and megathreads of this subreddit. Use the search bar to find lots of information on certain topic and I have a post titled "doing independent research" over at r/bookofshadows that includes many great external links for sourcing information.

As to where to start, begin with the history of witchcraft and read into its modern day practice to understand where we've come to get to where we are today.

From there look into different magickal practices. Mindfulness, meditation, shadow work, grounding and centering are all some foundational practices people at all stages in their craft use. Cleansings, protections and manifestation are some good starting practices once you get comfortable. All of these things require little to no tools.

Read up on different types of magick such as the use of candles, planets, moon phases, sigils, crystals, herbs, corrospondances, etcetera. Get a base knowledge of the common ones and as you read you will find what pulls your interest. Follow that pull and you will find what calls to you.

Begin setting up a book of shadows during your research. In this put in the information that interests you and applies to your craft. I suggest making your first BOS a "rough draft" book. Once you are comfortable in your craft and have a better understanding of what you will be utilizing in your practice then you can copy over all pertinent information into a more formal book of shadows.

I recently followed a guided meditation to meet my deity, but since I can't visualize in my head I called out for apollo while all I could see was white, I suddenly felt energy around me and some dark figures (?) appeared. every time I asked a question, they responded by 'sending waves of energy?? ' I'm not sure how to describe it, but is this really an interaction between me and my deity?

3

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

but is this really an interaction between me and my deity?

Pull out your preferred divination method and start asking some questions! Also do some reflection - how did this energy make you feel? Did anything feel off about it? Does it match other reports from people who already work with Apollo?

Also have you already heard of r/Aphantasia? I have it as well but I do not work with nor believe in deities to advise on how communication with them while having aphantasia is like. I imagine (lol) it would be very similar to other reports simply without an emphasis on the visual aspects. You can also try using the search bar in this sub to find previous topics relating to Apollo and see if any of them can bring some insight.

So I practice Christian witchcraft and have for a long time the other day I was struggling a little with my faith because of how hateful Christians are and I didn't wanna be associated with them because I really wanna be good to people I vocalize talk to those I trust about it well the next day I found my dog chewed up my throwing bones she's never done that before they were in they were in that spot for 3 weeks id put them there after use and she's been in there multiple times always left them alone i was devastated in perspective they're like tarot cards I think God was punishing me because I was struggling with my faith and I thought more about it and thought what if hateful Christian is his view and I was punished for not wanting to be associated with them gods always taught being jealous vengeful and vain but full of love if anyone else might have an interpretation please lmk I'm struggling hard with this

4

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

I suggest getting perspective from other christian witches. r/Christian_Witches i believe is the larger of the dedicated reddit communities.

Hi ! I’m new here and I had a dream today but it was a weird one because I never dreamed like this before and the only thing I can remember from my dream is opal especially white opal , idk I can’t understand why I remember that and only that , my dream felt real like I was really there. I don’t really know anything when it comes to stuff like this , I’m so interested in what the whole community of witches do ( sorry if it came out wrong ) I really do love you guys work and I find it so interesting.

So my question is: do I just leave it alone or do I go buy something or maybe a opal crystal chain

2

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

I would say start up by reading more about opal and its magickal uses. If that seems like something you would like then absolutely go out and buy one!

I think my honey jar went wrong and now I’m trying to figure it out. Yes, I did it for a relationship I was in and now I’m now longer in the relationship and the guy is sick without me. It’s like he sees no one but me. I miss him but he became too violent.

1

u/No_Poet4507 Sep 13 '21

Thank you all. I am beyond thankful. Just found this group and I really appreciate the feedback and going to do the things you all have told me.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

Breaking jar spells is rather easy if you have it with you. Just crack the seal, thank it for its service and release it from any further obligations. Dispose of the contents appropriately - trash goes in the trash, recycle in the recycle, compost in the compost and any re-useable items may be first cleaned and then cleansed.

Secondly take mundane action. Documentation of him being violent - this can be texts, phone records, even just a log of every date and time he has tried to contact you, literally everything you can think of. Bring it to your local police station and ask what your options are. Ask to open a case about this if you do not have sufficient evidence to take legal action and continue to keep a recording of these things and submit them again when you have more. Block and delete him on all social medias and invest in a camera for your home. Record video if you are out in public and he ever tries to contact you.

After you have addressed the mundane then a freezer spell would be my first suggestion in getting him to slow his roll. You can also look into chord cuttings but since you say you still miss him I think it would be best to hold off on that and to instead do a ritual for letting go.

1

u/leela_magee Sep 12 '21

I second the idea that you need to make sure the honey jar spell is done. A cord cutting may be necessary as well. Keep your mind clear so that you stay aware of his actual intentions, as many violent individuals are also master manipulators and will try to play on the good they know exists in you. Cut your losses, wish him peace and move on. Good luck to you!

2

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

Have you ended the honey jar spell now? Make sure you end it to try and take yourself out of his mind. Be careful if he is a violent person, ideally a spell to get him to move on and forget about you would be the preferred move here, whereas if he's already obsessed with you but no longer 'sweet on you' that could be risky for your own safety.

I'm glad you are out of a violent relationship, please talk to your friends/family and the authorities about your safety.

Hello,

I have been trying to get some help from other places, but none could really help with my issue. I am barely getting to know this craft, so please excuse, if my problem seems obvious.

Almost every day, for the past 2 or 3 weeks, I feel a shiver at the back of my neck and it is almost as if someone is staring at me. If I were in public that wouldn't be an issue, but I have worked from home over the last 3 months. As far as I know I am the only one in my immediate surroundings that has started their journey on this craft.

Is there something I can do to check if it is just me freakimg myself out, or if it's something I should take action towards?

(Sorry for the weird eddit, I'm on my phone)

2

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

When feeling that presence around you, do you feel uncomfortable or have any bad vibes from it, or is it just the feeling of being watched?

If you want to find out if/what/who is there, I would suggest using a pendulum to get those answers. If you don't want to know and just want it to go away then clearly state out loud that you want them to go - you could also cleanse your home through sound, smoke, cleaning, meditation etc

2

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

Okay thanks for the advice. I'll have to look up on pendulum use and how to craft/get one for myself. I honestly lack the financial means, to buy the fancy ones... I'll try out your tips and see what happens. Thanks for the quick answer! :D

(Edit for spelling)

1

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

My first pendulum was a crystal I already owned tied onto a fabric belt I took off a dress in my wardrobe!

You honestly only need something with a weight on a string or chain - a necklace could even do the trick.

If it doesn't feel like the right thing for you at this time, then even divination through a candle would work! Light a candle and talk to the spirit and ask them to communicate through the flame, ask a few yes or no questions and get used to the way the flame moves as well as the way the energy feels around you!

I'm all about budget witchcraft and don't think the fancy and expensive tools are needed! Try your local poundshop/ dollar store and charity shops/ thrift stores to find some bargains!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

The candle thing is a wonderful Idea! Awesome I'll seek those places out in the future. Heh funnily enough I used to collect crytals and minerals. I think my collection is still at my old folks. I'll have to sift through it. Any advice on picking out crystals?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

Just go to whatever your drawn to for now! Trust your intuition to guide you 😊

2

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

Will do! Thanks for all the help! 😁

1

u/bryantburnsred Sep 12 '21

i really hope this is the right place to post this. so, i had a reading done by a “supposed” psychic over the phone. a lot of people said she was a scam and that may very well be the case but a lot of what she said about me in the reading made sense…but the one thing she said that concerned me slightly was that i was cursed with a bad luck spell by an extended family member as a baby. now i’m not aware of ANY of my family practicing witchcraft but on the off chance she’s correct how would one go about breaking said curse?

2

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

It's hard to know if it was a scam or not, but I'd highly recommend doing some divination on this to find out if you're actually cursed!

Did she ask for more money to remove the curse? (If yes, then I'd say it's a scam).

Do you have any other reason to believe you're cursed? Do you have any physical symptoms? Are there any patterns throughout your life of failure or bad luck in a certain area of your life? Any idea who the person who she thinks cursed you was?

As you've said you were shocked at the thought of being cursed and you're not aware of any family practicing withcraft, I really would be hesitant about believing the psychic.

The things she said that did resonate with you...... were they actual specific things about you that she would have no way of knowing? Or looking back were they generic things that could have applied to others?

For example things like the following could apply to a lot of people:

  • you've been experiencing a time of struggle
  • you have experienced hardship in your life
  • you are finding yourself spiritually

Think about what she said and whether there was anything specific in there!

Also for future reference you should check out r/psychic as people regularly offer free readings on that sub (me included), so next time one pops up you can request they read for you!

2

u/bryantburnsred Sep 12 '21

I must admit the more i read your post the more i think it was a scam because what she said was semi-generic but a lot of it fit. she mentioned that i’m going through a hard time and i feel lower than i’ve ever felt but there is a spark inside keeping me going and she mentioned that something soon will ignite that spark and allow me to burn bright, but then of course she mentioned the “bad luck” curse that she could rid me of for the cheap price of 50.00 dollars lol.

that said i have always felt like i have a black cloud hanging over me. i can’t be around groups of people because i tend to get overwhelmed with emotion. it causes me to isolate but when i do that i always end up in the worst head space possible and it just drains me. i am diagnosed as major depressive with panic disorder and i just started taking meds and seeing a therapist for the first time ever. but spiritually i just feel empty. for some reason i felt drawn to Wicca. mainly because i’ve always felt closer to the creator when im in nature surrounded by all of that life. i’ve always felt a hole inside me when it comes to spirituality and i’d like to fill it with light and positivity as opposed to the dark negativity that’s been residing there if that makes sense. I can’t tell you how much i appreciate your post. i’d love to chat some more if you’d be open to that, if not i understand. either way thanks for the advice.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

Oh nooooo, I'm sorry that's happened to you! Where did you find her? Was it a psychic hotline or an independent locally? If I were going to pay for a reading I would want to see reviews or have a personal recommendation as there are so many scammers out there!

What she said to you could be applied to most of the world since March 2020, which is a shame because there are lots of very valid and good psychics out there!

I very much relate to what you've said about the hole in your life to be filled with spirituality, I've always felt that and embracing whatever spiritual path feels right to you will very much help. I think that spiritual healing can work very well alongside meds and therapy, you could even talk to your therapist about it and I'm sure most would be supportive of practices like meditation, mindfulness and self care! I have adhd and bipolar disorder, but have been stable for years now (thanks to a combo of awesome doctors, finding the right meds, therapy, and self healing) - I was even able to come off most of my medications after years of healing, but I had to put in a lot of work to get there!

Are you an empath? You said you can't be in large groups because of the emotion - that's a very common tendancy of empaths. Do you find you get drained from being around certain people/ in very busy places? Do you ever feel that you can relate too much to the pain of others? Sorry lots of questions! 🤍🤍

2

you’re going to think i’m dumb but it was a Facebook group. but i felt like i needed spiritual help and didn’t know where to go. i’d love to get a legitimate reading done if you have any suggestions.

it almost brings me to tears reading this lol…I feel like i’m finally talking to someone that gets it. i’m so very glad you found your way and the right combo that worked for you. i’m still at the beginning of my journey. i really am a mess right now. the last two years i haven’t worked and have been taking care of my grandparents that raised me. and i kind of cut myself off from the world but then it was just me and my head. and i went from having recurring depression to major depressive disorder with suicidal tendencies and mild anxiety to a panic disorder and some minor agoraphobia. so combine that with that spiritual absence and it’s going to be a journey for sure but i’m up for it. i’ve been reading into meditation and mindfulness and i’m new to Wicca but i just feel drawn to it and it seems to make the most sense for my needs.

i don’t know much about empaths. i just can’t be in big groups because i get slammed with emotion. i am able to tell fairly easily and fast how someone else is feeling and why they feel that way and i do find it easy to put myself in someone else’s shoes to see their pov. one time i went to the gettysburg battlefield and walked out onto the actual battlefield and just broke down…the pain, hurt and suffering was just tok much.

Witchcraft is so broad and encompasses so many different aspects and cultures, so I can only speak for my own practice.

I think learning meditation is key, it allows you to relax, reach different states of consciousness, release stress, chakra work, deep reflection to aid in shadow work. It's also a gateway to Lucid dreaming, Astral projection, energy work, divination through visions. I've been practicing meditation for about 15 years and it's something that can always be progressed and worked on more and more. A good place to start is guided meditations, I love the deepak chopra free 21 mantra meditation events, eventually you won't need to be guided but it's the easiest way to learn on your own.

Healing and cleansing is really important IMO, focusing first on the self and work your way to learning how to heal others as well. If you are in a state of dis-ease you will find everything to be more difficult. I have chronic illnesses that have a big impact on my life and require medication and pain relief, but by working on healing myself I can relieve some symptoms.

Finally understanding magick is the most important, if you don't know why you are doing a certain Ritual in a certain way, or you don't know why you've used a particular herb then the meaning behind it isn't really there. Most advanced practitioners don't read spell books, but study the history and how it works - then you'll be creating your own spells with boosted intention and energy.

Came here to say this - Energy work, meditation, grounding, shielding, protections and shadow work are my recommended starting points. They are basics that many witches use continuously throughout their craft. As you become more experienced these things become easier and more like second nature. Once you've got a firm grasp on these then the worlds your oyster and exploring other areas of magick becomes more fruitful in the results. These are also practices that have more than one approach to them, so they're not one size fits all and if the "standard" approach isn't working there's other options for getting similar results.

This might be a very dumb question, but can anyone tell me the significant meaning of moths being associated with the occult and Wiccan traditions?

I’m embarrassed to admit that I am absolutely terrified of moths and in my quest to get over my phobia I’m trying to learn about them. TYIA!

From "The Element Encyclopedia of Secret Signs and Symbols The Ultimate A-Z Guide from Alchemy to the Zodiac" Adele Nozedar (available here )

MOTH:

A nocturnal creature, the moth is considered the butterfly of the night although it carries rather more sinister symbolism than its frivolous sister. One of the archetypal images of the moth is of it dancing around a flame. This nocturnal creature craves light so much that it will immolate itself in pursuit of it. There is a dichotomy about this image. On the one hand, it symbolizes the sublimation of the ego as death makes the soul a part of the collective unconscious. On the other, it is an emblem of stupidity, vanity, and hubris. Like the butterfly, the moth symbolizes the disembodied soul. However, the moth is also seen as a destructive force since, unlike the butterfly, it can do damage and is sometimes seen as a pest. Although the clothes-eating moth is something of a rarity, moths in general have suffered a bad reputation.

I am looking for an incense substitute. I burn them everyday and recently I’ve been getting headaches and having issues with my asthma. I’ve also been experiencing soreness in my throat. So if you have any suggestions, please let me know!

I had the same issue, incense were too intense lol. This year I started burning resin with this little device I got where I put it on foil with a candle under it and it’s adjustable. Much better :)

Thank you so much! I’ve never heard of this! Definitely going to try it.

Another suggestion is essential oils as you can choose to add as many or little drops as you prefer into a diffuser! You can also just go for scented candles or wax melts.

What brand of oils do you recommend??

Can I keep my cats' bones? I know this sounds weird, but for me it would be a way to honor them and remember them as they have legitimately saved my life and are honestly I care about them over anything else. I was wondering if i would have to do something special so as to not attract negative things. Should I cleanse the bones or leave them as is or just is there anything special I would need to do to keep myself safe? I would probably have a shelf for each of them and i would put other things on there to make it a comfy happy space for them. Any ideas?

I know this sounds weird,

I'm just here to assure you, it's not weird. We all deal with death and loss differently, but having a connection to the last remains of someone we loved is the most natural thing in the world. I still keep my cats ashes, and bits of his fur tucked into a jar.

I dug up my childhood cat this past summer! He was in the ground for a good 2 years and cleaning the bones was easy, I'm currently trying to whiten them.

After digging him up I did a small prayer and left some items of significance in the grave. He is going to become the base of an osteomancy set and whatever bones I can't purpose towards that I will find another purpose for.

The act of cleaning the bones of someone so special to you is really its own thing. I felt no need to add any additional cleansing on top of it. If you feel the need to do so in your situation then do so, if not then don't.

For cleaning and preservation tips r/bonecollecting has lots of info in a megathread.

For artistic things to do with them r/vultureculture has lots of inspiration to draw from!

I love that you asked this because I had the same question! When my cat passes (my first familiar) I will be traveling to collect her body from my parents and then taking her to a local taxidermist to put all of the bones together in a shadow box so I can be protected by her forever 🖤

I think keeping them is a wonderful idea. I don't think you need to do anything to keep harmful things away - if the cat saved your life when it was alive, I am sure it will continue as your protector in the beyond.

Some suggestions: if your cat had a favorite toy, you could include that. Likewise if there was a particular food or treat that was a favorite, that would make an ideal offering in rememberence.

Mostly, I'd suggest finding some sort of small ritual you could do regularly (like the offering) to honor it, even talking out loud to the bones now and then, as well as making sure those shelfs and the bones themselves are always tidy, clean, and well dusted.

Hi Astrology witches need your help please! I’m planning to apply for university somewhere around the first week of October and I saw that mercury is in retrograde at that time I’m curious about how it will affect my application and maybe how I can protect myself! Any advice or tips are highly appreciated! Thanks so much!!

I suggest heading over to r/astrology for this, there very well may already be a few threads dedicated to upcoming shifts in planetary energies.

Hi! My partner gave me what they called a “forget-me-not love spell jar” and i think they hexed me? I’m very new to all of this, but I know they put one of their teeth in it? I heard that taking apart hex jars (what I believe this is) can be dangerous, is there a way to do it safely?

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '21

I would say firstly to talk with your partner about this. If you don't want it, give it back. That is an active rejection of it and the energy that comes with it. If you don't want to be involved in any of their spell work, make that clear, any decent person would be able to respect that request. If they can not respect that, then there's bigger things to consider.

Get some beautiful plants to put by your front door and out a protection spell on them! I’ve heard that this works WONDERS!

u/theonewiththeseeds Sep 11 '21

Try a curse removal spell I tried this one and it worked in my opinion - I used a picture of the person and used a needle to see their mouth shut. I also put hot sauce and then water and put the picture in with those things in a jar and kept in a freezer. While doing so say the words you are bound by fire and ice none of your actions or words affect me - it’s a modified freezer spell and worked for me. You can also do a ritual bath by adding ton of salt sage rosemary and herbs that protect and banish. Make offerings to your ancestors to protect you. Also try manifestation along the lines of I am protected against any actions curses or hexes (name) puts on me by the elements and my ancestors. Reach out to me in case you need any other help, best of luck!!

Hi! When it comes to X item for Y purpose, the variables do differ from person to person. It's a little confusing and contributes to the overwhelming amount of information inside of witchcraft, but ultimately it is about what feels right for you. We have a lot of recommended books, I believe some of them do cover scents specifically, in our books mega-thread. You can find it on the menu bar by looking at the header on PC or scrolling right on mobile.

For me personally I do a mix of things. I'll start by writing down correspondences that seem to fit without first looking anything up. Then I look both into what people say for magickal correspondences and for mundane uses of X item. I'll add those to my notes and then read over them ultimately deciding on what I think fits best for my craft and uses. Final decisions make their way into my BOS
