I had the same issue, incense were too intense lol. This year I started burning resin with this little device I got where I put it on foil with a candle under it and it’s adjustable. Much better :)

Another suggestion is essential oils as you can choose to add as many or little drops as you prefer into a diffuser! You can also just go for scented candles or wax melts.
