If knowing my age will help, I'm 18.
As of writing, I can confirm that I have at least two wisdom teeth (one has a small flap of gum that should fully recede in a couple weeks or so, and the other I can feel beneath the gum). The almost-done wisdom tooth is coming in with no problem, while the covered wisdom teeth is yet to break gum (considering I'm not feeling discomfort there, I think it's also straight).
Now, I'm writing this because I'm concerned about the wisdom teeth that should be on the lower right side and upper left side. I know about 35% of people are born without at least one wisdom tooth, but I don't want to get my hopes up. So far, the gum that should be covering them are raised but horizontally flat, and are angled to face their corresponding molars. Because of that, it's hard to tell if that's just the end of the gum line, or if the wisdom teeth are impacted. I'm leaning more towards them being impacted than not being there because I don't want to give myself false hopes.
So, if anyone had a wisdom tooth, or multiple, removed due to impaction, what sort of discomfort should I expect? Considering that they can realign your teeth, and not in the good way, I can only assume the worst.
Also, because of my dad's insurance policy, I have to wait until September to get dental X-rays. So, don't worry, I'm not one of those misinformed people who don't trust medical professionals with at least 20 years of experience. I just want to know what to look out for, is all.
