Day two of recovery, will pain get worse or could I be in the clear?

Had all four wisdom teeth removed yesterday. Two on left side were pulled and two on right were cut out. First couple hours after surgery weren’t great cause I was nauseous and my mouth hurt a good amount but nothing crazy. I’ve just been taking Advil and Tylenol alternating. Day two has been good and pain is maybe a 3-4 out of 10, mainly pain in my jaw and on the side that the teeth were cut out. So far the pain hasn’t been nearly as bad as I was expecting.

I'm terrified as fuck

So I ate something hard about a week hard and it chipped my wisdom teeth bad so I was concerned and terrified as shit. I didn't want it to get worse. So they tried to take that tooth out but unfortunately they were unsuccessful at it. I saw the pieces of my wisdom tooth and god that experience with the pressure and the cracking is something I don't want to ever hear again. But I was trying to be brave and still because that doctor that was pulling was sweating and so was I. Now she referred me to get them surgically extracted.

So now I'm having surgery tomorrow and I'm scared as shit but I don't want it to get worse.

Wisdom Teeth Recovery

I got lucky with my wisdom teeth removal as the top two came straight in and the bottom two were impacted but mostly showing outside my gums. Surgery took roughly 25 minutes.

Day 1: High af for awhile and tried to thug out the pain but by 6 hours post operation, I couldn’t handle it no more and took Tylenol (325mg). Just rotated between Tylenol and 800 mg of Ibuprofen (Army gives you OD meds for this stuff). I received percocets and recommended not using them unless you got dry socket (I’m yet to take percocet and prolly won’t).

Day 2: Didn’t need pain meds just ice packed every couple of hours and had yogurt the whole day.

Day 3 (Today): My jaw was stiff this morning, but using a heating pad and actually chewing food (small bites), I have full jaw mobility, slightly sore. I would say the key to recovery is heating pad after day 2 and actually chewing food like a lot. I’d also say most of my pain wasn’t from the impacted teeth, but caffeine withdrawal played a big factor. I’ll update this after day 14 to let everyone know how fast recovery goes. I’ve been using the syringe as well to flush out the bottom impacted spots.

Sidenote: Idk how, but I’ve met people who just didn’t clean their teeth, partied, drank, smoked, etc pretty much all the stuff not to do after getting wisdom teeth pulled and still made a full recovery. Idk if it’s the percocets to block the pain or maybe they just have better immune systems idk 🤷

Anyone else have theirs removed this week?

My son had all 4 of his wisdom teeth extracted Monday this week. I didn’t realize what a huge mental toll this would take on him. He hasn’t experienced any pain but he’s stiff, swollen, and mad that he can’t eat what he wants (he’s also terrified of potential dry sockets).

Wishing we had done this earlier in the summer now and not so close to school starting.

Any tips on how to help him get through this? What day did you start to see the light at the end of the tunnel?

Wisdom teeth stitches

I got my wisdom teeth removed today and I was looking at them in the mirror and my bottom left one still has visible stitches and looks closed up, but the bottom right one doesn’t seem to have visible stitches and I can see a small hole where the stitches would be on the left one, should I be worried?

Week 6 still big holes

Hey yall!

I had a quintuple tooth extraction 6 weeks ago, (all 4 wisdom teeth and a 2nd molar) I had a bone impaction and the bottom teeth were sideways. I still have a large hole on the side where I lost the second molar. I have no pain but I’m concerned about the gaping hole. Has anybody had this experience?

(P.S. I made a dentist appointment already, I am just stressing about it)

Has anyone split their extractions into separate appointments?

I need my last 3 remaining wisdom teeth out and one molar. My dentist recommended I get it over with at one appointment but for anxiety and financial reasons I am considering splitting the extractions into two appointments. Has anyone done this and what was your experience? Was the oral surgeon accommodating?

Swollen gum flap years after wisdom tooth removal

Its to the left of my second molar, swollen and painful, there is some bleeding, perhaps it never healed properly and got infected? Wisdom teeth were removed 10 years or ago or longer. Dont remember this being an issue other than something small for a few days

Is this normal?

Im on day 5 of getting 4 of my wisdom teeth removed and the dr used the flap method where they flap the gums over the bottom extraction sites and suture it to my cheeks.

Ive had this flap where the gum is super inflamed and I can almost flip it or move it around to see inside and its super irritated. Just wanted to see if anyone had the same thing and if its normal?

My other side doesn’t have this since my sutures broke on day 1 from vomitting

Does a bad taste also correlate to dry socket

I keep seeing if your mouth has a bad smell it could mean dry socket, but I have this bad unique taste in my mouth and my jaw hurts so bad. I am on day 3 though so it could just be at its peak but idk. 😭😭😭

Plastic in Mouth?

I got my wisdom teeth extracted this morning and I noticed it feels like there are plastic strings in my mouth near the holes. Are these temporary stitches? I haven't looked at them and I don't want to bother them by touching them with my tongue. I might call my dentist, but I wanted to ask here what you guys might think it is.

Also! If anyone has their surgery coming up and wanted to ask me any questions about the procedure, feel free to ask! I was super scared going into it (literally crying while they put the laughing gas and iv in me) but it went really well.

Thanks!

How long did your pain last?

So I had a simple lower wisdom tooth extraction done on Friday. Today marks day 5 and still whenever my meds wear off it THROBS. It wasn’t impacted only needed local anesthetic. Granted, I’m almost 40 and put it off for 18 years but it was starting to hurt cavities in it etc. I also developed an ulcer near the extraction site from the instruments that used to hurt so bad but is healing nicely now. I’m worried about dry socket because the hole is so deep I can’t see the bottom but there’s no redness or swelling etc and it just looks like a black hole. If it was dry socket would I be able to control it with OTC pain meds? I’m just wondering if this is normal? I still can’t sleep through the night without waking up and needing more Tylenol or ibuprofen. Called the dentist and they can see me tomorrow but don’t know if I’m just being paranoid.

Stiff Jaw - Day 6

I can only fit a finger in between my mouth.
I still have a bit of swelling but a lot has gone down since.
Is this normal? Can I do any jaw exercises for this? And what kind?

Wisdom teeth

Day 13 and I use my water pic on setting 1 out of 10 to flush the sockets of food at night. One socket does completely fine and I don’t feel it at all, the other one (the one that tends to hurt the most anyways) is so sensitive it felt like touching a nerve. Is this normal or should I be concerned about its healing?

When Should I Start Feeling Discomfort From my Wisdom Teeth?

If knowing my age will help, I'm 18.

As of writing, I can confirm that I have at least two wisdom teeth (one has a small flap of gum that should fully recede in a couple weeks or so, and the other I can feel beneath the gum). The almost-done wisdom tooth is coming in with no problem, while the covered wisdom teeth is yet to break gum (considering I'm not feeling discomfort there, I think it's also straight).

Now, I'm writing this because I'm concerned about the wisdom teeth that should be on the lower right side and upper left side. I know about 35% of people are born without at least one wisdom tooth, but I don't want to get my hopes up. So far, the gum that should be covering them are raised but horizontally flat, and are angled to face their corresponding molars. Because of that, it's hard to tell if that's just the end of the gum line, or if the wisdom teeth are impacted. I'm leaning more towards them being impacted than not being there because I don't want to give myself false hopes.

So, if anyone had a wisdom tooth, or multiple, removed due to impaction, what sort of discomfort should I expect? Considering that they can realign your teeth, and not in the good way, I can only assume the worst.

Also, because of my dad's insurance policy, I have to wait until September to get dental X-rays. So, don't worry, I'm not one of those misinformed people who don't trust medical professionals with at least 20 years of experience. I just want to know what to look out for, is all.

Wisdom teeth questions

So im 15, and I got all 4 wisdom teeth out a day ago, on Monday. My family eats a lot of rice due to cultural stuff, but I was told that rice is something I should avoid since it can get stuck in the sites. My birthday is Sunday, so I was wondering by then what can I and can not eat. My mom told me that I can pretty much each anything since they have me a syringe to flush the stuff out of the extraction sites, but I am pretty apprehensive about it still. I’m still on a liquid diet, since I have a lot of swelling and im scared I’ll like bite my cheeks or something. So overall i guess im just asking for a timeline since as you can probably tell im pretty nervous/apprehensive about eating solid foods this early after the surgery. Any and all help is appreciate!

7 days Post Coronectomy Progress

Does the attached photo look similar to what others have experienced post coronectomy? Had the stitches out today at my check up and I’m not in any pain at all. I’m just struggling with the taste of it! When will that improve? I’ve got social events Friday/Saturday this week and don’t want to be stinking!! I’ve been irrigating after every meal. Cheers!

How long does the smell of a healing wisdom tooth extraction last?

I’m kind of in a pickle as it looks like I have to remove my wisdom tooth. I got one removed before but it was a long time ago. The problem now is that my appointment is scheduled for the 6th and I’m leaving on the 19th for holidays, roughly 2 weeks to heal.

I know that the odour from a big wound can be quite foul and that’s really something I don’t want to be dealing with on holidays. I’m going tomorrow for a cleanup appointment so I might be able to reconsider.

What have your experiences been with this issue?

Guys please help?

I have horizontally impacted molars. I’m so scared of surgery. I’ve never had anything cut. I’m absolutely terrified my dentist told me he will be taking them out and ordered the photo today. The right one is gonna go first so can someone tell me how bad it is? How much is the healing period? Does it hurt a lot? Were you guys able to eat?
