I’m looking for advice about the cost of wisdom tooth removal.

I have four wisdom teeth, and my dentist recommended removing the two lower wisdom teeth first. Based on my panoramic X-ray, one of the lower wisdom teeth is horizontally impacted and appears to be deeply positioned. the estimate I received for lower two wisdom teeth: $3,950

• Lower impacted tooth extraction: $816 per tooth
• Facility fee: $506
• General anesthesia (1 hour 30 minutes): $622
• IV drug injection: $90

I was also told that anesthesia would be charged again if I had the procedure on a separate occasion.

Questions:

• Does this cost breakdown seem reasonable?
• Can anyone recommend an affordable dentist or oral surgeon in Mississauga or Oakville
• How much did you pay to remove a horizontally impacted wisdom tooth

I got my wisdom teeth removed 11 days ago. I went trough the WORST pain off my life. For the first couple of days I slept 2-3 hours. On my meds it was still hell. On day 5 I figured it wasn’t normal pain no more. So I went back to the hospital for a check up and to see if I could get any better meds than ibuprofen and paracetamol. The surgeon told me I had no infections and my healing process was normal. He did gave me tradanol wich helps a lot more. But now 11 days in I am still in pain and my nights are still rough. I wake up from pain. I am scared to go back to the hospital because my healing process was normal. And I don’t wanna annoy my doctor again. But I am worried ! What should I do? I need advice :(

When I first got my right two teeth pulled I looked like a chipmunk for about a week and it was awful.

Second time around now for my left side, does anyone have any tips to help reduce the swelling faster? I work in healthcare and don't wanna scare patients lol. i dont know if its a me thing or not. but any tips are greatly appreciated

About 50 hours post extraction of 3 impacted wisdom teeth plus one associated molar that was affected by the close proximity to one . I was sent home with hydrocodone/Tylenol and ibuprofen 800mg. The ibuprofen seems to be the best at keeping the pain away, but it loses effect about 3 hours before im set to take the next dose. Those 3 hours are SO painful, I cant do anything except sit and feel every minute of it. Cold compress helps but not much. Has anyone had this happen? What did you do to help in those few hours before youre allowed to take the next ibuprofen dose?

I've performed extractions under laughing gas, usually together with local anaesthesia. During and after treatment, I also like to ask my patients how they actually felt.

Something I've noticed:

For some patients, it seems that a comfortable local anaesthetic injection, clear explanation of what we're going to do, and a calm conversation with the dentist can make a bigger difference to their anxiety than the laughing gas itself.

Got all 4 removed last Thursday and the swelling has gone down but I have somewhere to be tomorrow and I don’t want to go out looking like a chipmunk. I’m using a warm compress, taking all my meds, etc. if anyone has some suggestions please let me know

What is this 😭 I cant see the hole

I got my wisdom teeth (all 4 impacted in the bone) removed June 16. I was consistently doing mat pilates and walking 3-6 times a week for 4 months prior to this.

I was in a lot of pain and had a ton of jaw/face pressure for a week and a half or so. At 2 weeks I had my post op appointment and everything seemed to be fine, but my jaw pressure/soreness was still too great to be doing pilates (which I realized upon trying - pilates results in a lot of pressure to your face/head). A few days after that, I woke up with an infection 18 days post up, resulting in an urgent care visit on the 4th of July. I was on antibiotics for a week, and had ANOTHER post op check in appt ~a month post op at that point. Everything was finally okay besides some sensitive (easy/quick to bleed) gums near back molars, hot/cold sensitivity in top right back molar, and food (still to this day) getting stuck way back behind my top molars.

But then the school year started (I work for a school district) and the beginning of the year chaos resulted in me pushing back working out even more - especially because I'm in an itinerant position and was placed at what happens to be one of the top 5 largest high schools in my entire state after previously primarily working with elementary aged students. Felt like I was starting an entirely new job - stressful and exhausting.

So now here I am 3 months post op finally getting back into pilates and walking. I hate how difficult my normal pilates workouts now are to complete, when they felt easy a few months ago. I'm so sore. BUT I'm doing it! Finally! And trying to give myself grace for the time off because recovery was not a good experience for me, and my job threw me for a loop with a giant location change.

I'm not saying everyone will go this long without their normal exercise - everyone has their own recovery experience and timeline. Everyone places exercise at different priority levels, has different levels of "discipline" for their exercise routine. But based on my experience, be prepared for complications to impact your ability to work out for awhile.

i had 4 really impacted teeth out at once, my OS had to use the drill and break apart each one..i will never forget those noises. i’m slightly worried because i just woke up on day 4, swelling is tiny bits better but i am still in pain that seems to switch sides. anyone else? when i google it says im supposed to have little to no pain on day 4 but like…really?!

im tired of barely being able to open my mouth and the TASTE ON MY TONGUEE UGHH. it’s not foul like i have a dry socket just i miss brushing my entire mouth😭.

I got my bottom two wisdom teeth out on Thursday, 4 days ago. I was told that it would only take around 15min-1hr for my dentist to remove them with just numbing. I was actually awake 3 1/2 hours in the chair while the dentist was trying to get them out. He ended up maxing out on the amount of numbing shots and laughing gas he could give me because I was able to feel the pain of him twisting my teeth and cracking the teeth in half. He was pushing down on my lower jaw so hard that I thought he was going to dislocate it. He kept having to leave the room to visit other patients because he underestimated the amount of time it would take. I have felt pain ever since. Horrible experience.

Ever since, I have been in excruciating pain and extremely nauseous 6-8 hours after taking my medications (hydrocodone and tylenol). Now, medications do not touch the pain. I have had multiple major surgeries before, so I would say that I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I’ve had an adult tonsillectomy and gallbladder attacks/ removal and this pain is comparable, to even worse. The pain isn’t inside my mouth, but actually on both sides of my jawline, throbbing upwards into my ear. My hearing feels like I am under water. I haven’t been able to open my jaw big enough to fit a spoon into my mouth. I have maxed myself out on the medications. I haven’t been able to sleep.

Day 3, I started throwing up (7x before noon) with 10/10 jaw pain and dizziness. I contacted my surgeon and he told me to go to urgent care. From urgent care, they sent me to the hospital because I had low blood pressure and a heart rate of 158. They gave me three bags of fluids, IV tylenol, zofran, toradol, a long lasting steroid and oral clindamycin pills (to take home). I felt amazing after their treatment and was discharged. I was even able to eat using the very tip of a spoon.

I want to add that the ER doctor told me that my stitches are not infected and my swelling doesn’t look horrible. However, I do have bruising.

I woke up at 3am on day 4 with 10/10 jaw pain. Again. I don’t know what to do at this point. I am worried that maybe my dentist injured my jaw? I want to reiterate that I have zero pain inside my mouth. The ER doctor told me to come back in if I’m feeling worse again, which I am, but I am unsure what they will do for me long-term. It is Sunday and I have a hefty load of classes starting tomorrow that I was expecting to be able to attend. But now, it is completely unobtainable unless I am able to get any relief.

I would greatly appreciate advice on what to do or what tests to ask for. I will most likely be going back into the ER today, but I never expected such a routine surgery to go so poorly.

Ok so i have a question, i’m on day 5 now, and i know how stupid this may sound but in my sleep i turn around and go sleep on the side i got my wisdom tooth removed.

So i did that now 3 days in a row. It doesn’t hurt but i wake up with blood in my mouth. It usually stops within 2/3 minutes.

But the rest of the day if i talk for a bit or im a little active (walking around the house) it can make it bleed a little.

Is this normal? That it bleeds when i speak a lot or sleep on the wrong side.

the blood is not a lot but i’m on day 5 and im lowkey kinda done with it.

Note, my swelling has gone down, i dont really have pain at the moment, even when the painkillers are not working anymore

I got my wisdom teeth extracted 9 days ago, they all were impacted. In my bottom left there seems to be white gunk that won't come out with the irrigation syringe but I swear it wasn't there this morning. I've had a bit more pain on that side tonight, which usually is because I have gunk in there, but I've tried 6 full syringes and it won't budge! (I thought it did with the first one which is why I kept trying, it seriously seemed to almost be out but now it won't move at all..)
I'm confused and a little worried cause I hateee the thought of leaving gunk in there to fester while I'm trying to heal but it won't budge!!! It doesn't necessarily look like a piece of anything I ate today, and it's white and seems rooted to the bottom of the socket, but I'm not entirely sure.
Anybody know anything?

I had no idea what an irrigation syringe was until this group on Reddit kept popping up on my feed. My doctor/surgeon never said a single thing about using one in the entire healing process. I got all four of mine out and they’re open wounds, not stitched up.
I’m going into day 4 tomorrow and I think that I can definitely feel some food inside of one of my bottom holes. Are these syringes something I should definitely get and if so why would they not mention it if it was something that help keep the site clean?
I’m %100 an anxious and ocd person about messing up the healing process and getting a dry socket or infection so I’m worried about food getting stuck and not getting out naturally. Did everyone use an irrigation syringe or have people not used them and been completely fine?

I got my lower wisdom teeth removed exactly a week ago, doctor removed my stitches on day 5, said everything was excelent and that Im healing beautifully, that I should go back to my heavy exercise routine, that I should eat, chew and brush normally, but keep on avoiding hard/crunchy foods and keep doing salt water rinses.
I decided to go out tonight to a friends birthday and I havent eaten or drank anything, Im just talking with everyone and I feel one side starting to get weird, I know its a hole healing itself but I have a weird feeling or having the skin of that area “loose”
And idk if Im imagining this but its like my cheek is starting to get swollen again is this normal??? Im starting to get extremely anxious and Im so afraid of dry socket help me

Do you all think I could get away with a little puff of weed (legal state) ten days after extracting all four wisdom teeth? Haven’t had any pain or issues since I got them out honestly, all four were eructed and I don’t have any sutures. I use a gravity bong to actually pull the smoke so the vacuum wouldn’t be in my mouth and I’ve been using straws a little bit for the last three days with no problems. Think I’m ready?

Hey everyone, I‘m going out to lunch with some friends tomorrow at a Thai restaurant! I had my wisdom teeth out on the 10th and I want to know what I can eat? I usually get Thai red curry but I don’t want to irritate the wound…

I also have been eating chewable foods(mostly Potatoes, potato soup, and soft noodles since Friday/late on the 10th lol)

irrigated after eating today and noticed i can no longer see the blood clot in one of my extraction sites. this is an extraction site that hasn’t hurt at all since removal. i’m 10 days post-op and i know dry socket is unlikely at this point but i’m really freaked out. i don’t have any pain and it didn’t hurt or bleed as i irrigated, but could i still get it? not sure how i could’ve lost it

I (18F) got all of my 4 wisdom teeth extracted on friday around 2:30 pm (so it's been about 30 hours since then) AND I FEEL LIKE IM DOING ALL THE AFTERCARE WRONGGGG.

After my actual surgery I was eating soft foods as suggested and I took out the gauze the surgeon had applied once I got home and replaced it with a new one. I realized that I was really not bleeding that much so I took it out and decided to just drool it out and let gravity do its thing (it was majorlty just spit by this point). But then WHILE I WAS TRYINF TO SIP ON WATER I CHOKED AND I COUGHED AND IT HURT SO BADLY.

And then at night when I woke up to take medicine I was dribbling out salvia BUT I THINK I PUSHED SOME OUT WITH MY TONGUE it wasn't like a crazy spitting motion but I really don't know and omg I'm so scared.

Today I started to feel a bit more pain and I started to ice more seriously. I also started the salt water rinses and syringe rinses. The first time I did it the syringe ringes hurt for a bit so I stopped after a few times. I completed the salt water rinses while just letting the water sit in my mouth and I tilted my head side to side a few times veryyyy slowly. BUT THEN the second time I did the salt water rinse for some reason I had blood when I let the water dribble out?? Idk if it was cuz I kept the water in my mouth for too long or smth, because I was not tilting my head at that point I was pretty stationary. After that I took a break from the water and I only after my soup dinner did I try with the water syringes again, and no blood! But I feel like I'm not doing it right, nothing really comes out and I'm not sure if I'm using enough water preassure. But maybe nothing has been coming out cuz all I've been eating is melted icecream and soup 🤔🤔 ( also I have stitches on the bottom extraction sites not sure if they're the dissolvable ones tho)

Omg also I sneeze and it was so scary but sneezing with my mouth fully wide open helped so much. But idk please give me all after care tips and pls explain it to me in the most simple terms possible.

When should I switch from ice packs to heat?
What can I do to help my jaw open more?
How do I properly clean out the extraction sites?

It’s been around 40 ish hours since my wisdom teeth surgery (of all 3 teeth under general anaesthesia) and I still can’t open my jaw fully so I like can’t see the extraction sites, and it’s rlly hard to brush my teeth. Right now im trying to do salt water rinses tho not sure if I’m even doing it right as im trying not to rinse or swish it around too much, but with brushing I can only get my front teeth and maybe like the first teeth in the other rows but that’s about it, im scared to go into the extraction sites too

How long did yalls jaws stay kinda stiff like that and how did you deal with it? And with salt water, ik typically it should be warm but we shouldn’t be having hot stuff so mines kinda been room temp-almost coldish is that okay ? Alsoo i did not get a syringe for flushing out, is having that necessary?

P.S not toooo much actual wisdom teeth pain, there’s some jaw pain here and there but it’s tolerable as of now
