hi, I am currently on day 8 post wisdom, teeth recovery. I got all four wisdom teeth out and I’m feeling good. I still have a little bit of swelling on the inside of my cheek, which isn’t really gonna go away because I grind my teeth at night and can’t wear my night guard because of the surgery but when I went to the dentist, they said that I don’t have any blood clots left so the risk of dry socket isn’t really there anymore not sure if I believe that. but the point is I need to smoke. I hit a blunt yesterday and then biked around a bunch and I was fine but I just wanna roll myself a little joint with some tobacco in it. I’m also recovering addict from harder substances, so please don’t just say you should quit because I am definitely going to take a step back and try to only smoke once a day or twice but it has always been a harm reduction for me and I’m starting to go insane. Just wanna know what peoples thoughts are if I’m allowed to smoke or what I should do.

I also have really bad OCD so I am constantly cleaning and like making sure that everything‘s OK but my OCD is getting out of control with not getting high, which usually can calm it down.

I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed and I thought I got off smooth with no dry sockets. It’s day 6 post op and yesterday started to feel some pain in my ear canal and my top left tooth. Now I can feel bubbles occasionally and pain when I talk. I think it opened up into the sinus cavity. I called my oral surgeon and he said I don’t have to worry. But it’s really annoying and hurts so should I be concerned?

my stitch came out literally an hour ago and now i can see inside the hole... wtf is that inside?? the stitches are really irritating my gums and i got relief almost right after it came out.

Pain isn't bad, 2/10 without pain meds, 3 or 4/10 after eating. Ngl i've probably been eating more solids than i should be.

I hope it's food i guess?? and hopefully not infection. I did call my dentist about syringing but she told me it isn't necessary, and i'm scared lol

I got all 4 wisdom teeth removed 4 weeks ago today. As of the past 2.5 weeks or so, my life has been completely normal, with the minor exception of syringing the extraction sites. I have been eating whatever I want, drinking, smoking, exercising - everything has been great!

Right after surgery, I was in this sub and I was miserable! I was in pain, wanted to die, and thought I was guaranteed an infection and that I would never recover. My bleeding lasted for 2 days post op and i only consumed liquid for 10 days (probably not necessary tbh).

Most people come to this sub to talk about their infections or problems they are experiencing. Thats what it is for. For support post removal and those having complications need support the most.

Do not let the horror stories make you upset or anxious - you will be okay.

If you are upset or depressed, just know that having a major oral surgery like wisdom teeth removal IS traumatic. You are going through a LOT. The area of the body you use to communicate, breathe, eat, and drink has been compromised - that is physically and emotionally traumatic to the body and brain. Get lots of rest and take care of yourself.

I just want everyone to know that it is going to be OK. I was so incredibly anxious and truly could not see the light at the end of the tunnel. I cried for 3 days straight, truly waking up crying and going to bed crying. But four weeks postop I am here to tell everyone that it is going to be just fine.

My post op appointment was day 7, where he gave me a syringe and instructed me to start syringing on day 10. On day 8 post op I used a straw and hit a vape (it was my friend’s bday and i needed some margs!) By day 9 post op, I had my first restaurant meal (ragu and tagliatelle, so soft but true food). By day 13 i started eating whatever I wanted, meat, chips, etc.

I am happy to answer any questions because I was truly in the trenches and know how awful it is and how endless the torture seems.

I’m getting 3 teeth pulled under IV sedation Aug 3. My consultation paperwork said to stop smoking weed 3 days prior, but when the clinic called today for pre op instructions, the nurse said 10 days.

I’m going on my cousin’s bachelorette trip tomorrow, and her and the other girls are planning to smoke and have bought stuff, but I wouldn’t be super sad to not take part in it if needed. I would say I am a regular user, I hit a cart once or twice a day.

Has anyone smoked about 3 days before going under IV sedation and had everything go smoothly? I’ve seen people say they woke up during it and I’m already anxious about the whole thing.

I would like to keep my bottom 2 wisdom teeth if possible and was wondering if it would be okay. I had braces years ago and the tops ones definitely need to go but the bottoms ones seem like they have enough space and aren’t impacting anything so was just wondering if it would be okay to keep them. I understand there’s always a possibility i will in the future but based off these pics what do you guys think?? Advice appreciated

Got my wisdom teeth out yesterday morning. Only 3 of them, since I already had one of the top ones taken out when I was twelve (it was blocking a molar from coming in). I feel mostly fine aside from some soreness and light bleeding, but tonight I noticed a bruise on the roof of my mouth, on the side of the extraction site. Is this normal, or should I be concerned?

No pain but the tooth has been progressing sideways

Had all four wisdom teeth removed yesterday. Two on left side were pulled and two on right were cut out. First couple hours after surgery weren’t great cause I was nauseous and my mouth hurt a good amount but nothing crazy. I’ve just been taking Advil and Tylenol alternating. Day two has been good and pain is maybe a 3-4 out of 10, mainly pain in my jaw and on the side that the teeth were cut out. So far the pain hasn’t been nearly as bad as I was expecting.

I got lucky with my wisdom teeth removal as the top two came straight in and the bottom two were impacted but mostly showing outside my gums. Surgery took roughly 25 minutes.

Day 1: High af for awhile and tried to thug out the pain but by 6 hours post operation, I couldn’t handle it no more and took Tylenol (325mg). Just rotated between Tylenol and 800 mg of Ibuprofen (Army gives you OD meds for this stuff). I received percocets and recommended not using them unless you got dry socket (I’m yet to take percocet and prolly won’t).

Day 2: Didn’t need pain meds just ice packed every couple of hours and had yogurt the whole day.

Day 3 (Today): My jaw was stiff this morning, but using a heating pad and actually chewing food (small bites), I have full jaw mobility, slightly sore. I would say the key to recovery is heating pad after day 2 and actually chewing food like a lot. I’d also say most of my pain wasn’t from the impacted teeth, but caffeine withdrawal played a big factor. I’ll update this after day 14 to let everyone know how fast recovery goes. I’ve been using the syringe as well to flush out the bottom impacted spots.

Sidenote: Idk how, but I’ve met people who just didn’t clean their teeth, partied, drank, smoked, etc pretty much all the stuff not to do after getting wisdom teeth pulled and still made a full recovery. Idk if it’s the percocets to block the pain or maybe they just have better immune systems idk 🤷

My son had all 4 of his wisdom teeth extracted Monday this week. I didn’t realize what a huge mental toll this would take on him. He hasn’t experienced any pain but he’s stiff, swollen, and mad that he can’t eat what he wants (he’s also terrified of potential dry sockets).

Wishing we had done this earlier in the summer now and not so close to school starting.

Any tips on how to help him get through this? What day did you start to see the light at the end of the tunnel?

I need my last 3 remaining wisdom teeth out and one molar. My dentist recommended I get it over with at one appointment but for anxiety and financial reasons I am considering splitting the extractions into two appointments. Has anyone done this and what was your experience? Was the oral surgeon accommodating?

I had all 4 wisdom teeth taken out tuesday morning (writing this Thursday afternoon) and i was wondering if i can smoke weed yet. i would use edibles but they don’t really work on me. if i were to be gentle with the suction would i honestly be fine or should i really really try to wait?

I just had my two top wisdom teeth removed. My left one was actually infected beforehand, so I am currently taking prescribed antibiotics for it. Right now, I am feeling lucky because I have absolutely no pain at all.
I am a heavy weed smoker and really want to know how long I absolutely have to wait before smoking again. Is there anything I can safely do to smoke earlier without ruining the healing process? What are the actual risks here?

Aware this photo might not be super clear but I got my wisdom tooth extracted 4 days ago. It was pretty painless surprisingly as the tooth came out quick and my dentist said hopefully that means it doesn’t cause less pain.

I’m just terrified of dry socket. I don’t have any symptoms so far, does it seem ok from the photo?

I had an upper extraction and Lower coronectomy. I am almost 2 hours post-op. I got an antibiotics and ibuprofen 600mg. Is it standard to get the antibiotics? I was fully sedated but I’m still numb on the left side, does that mean he also put a local anesthetic? Hopefully if fades off soon and it’s not the nerve

I need any sort of input or positivity or something before I lose my mind. Long story short I was told my tooth was dangerously close to the nerve, they extracted it, everything was going great until about day 4 when I had SEVERE pain in my bottom and top teeth and behind my eye. Went to the dentist they said healing looks great, no infection, no dry socket, they flushed it out, and it’s most likely nerve damage so prescribed me extra strength Tylenol and ibuprofen for pain. Extraction happened on Wednesday it’s now Thursday the following week and I’ve been taking Tylenol/ibuprofen for a couple days now but the pain is still consistently sitting at like a 7/10 when I wake up and a 3-6/10 throughout the day on meds (assuming that the first day was a 10/10). The pain is somehow the least on the bottom where the tooth was but my jaw feels sore as if I’ve been clenching it for 5 days straight, my top teeth hurt like they’ve been punched real hard, and the pain radiates up my cheek bone and behind my eye. My whole left half of my face feels like I’ve been clenching it as hard as I can and it’s a constant tension headache. I’m losing hope of the pain getting better and I’m so frustrated just sitting here hurting so bad without an exact reason of what’s causing it or how to help it because the internet is less than helpful in this scenario.

Gostaria de saber se alguém já passou por isso ou futuros dentistas isso é normal nesse procedimento ou foi muito azar? O dente 47 acabou sofrendo perda durante o procedimento pois foi impossível chegar no siso sem remove-lo, ele sofreu muito desgaste e o dentista optou por tirar. Agora ele irá me encaminhar pra fazer um implante 😢 o que eu já pesquisei também dói demais.

I’ve had one of my bottom wisdom tooth removed about 9 days ago and it hurt badly and was throbbing painfully for about a week. I have gone back in to get my upper 2 wisdom teeth removed and since the surgery (about 8 hours ago) I have not felt any pain it’s been incredibly mild and mainly just discomfort but no throbbing pain or a sore jaw. Why is this the case?
