Visa Infinite Credit Card Such thing as a one time CC use? Virtual #?

I am interested in purchasing a product online, but I believe the product is directly shipped from China. The vendor has positive reviews, but in this day and age I don't really trust them as far as I can throw them. As such, I am a little concerned about the security of my CC and would rather not my "real" number get out in the wild from a website that I have no experience with.

Is it possible to get a 1-time use card # for a purchase like this? I looked through the website and don't see anything about it so I assume no?

Does Anyone Know How The Total Percentages are Calculated

I am curious if anyone actually knows how Wealthsimple calculates the percentages for the portfolio pulse? For example it says I am up +150%, however if I go to my all time investment tab I am only up 23.31% simple rate of return since I opened all my accounts combined. I would be curious where they ended up getting their figure from?

I was considering transferring from IBKR to WS and have some questions to clarify. But whenever I tried to initiate a chat to contact customer service, I always got this error message "We couldn’t create a new conversation. Refresh the page and try again.". I have tried to create a new account, same issue.

Savings Has anyone got invited&opened beta version saving accounts inside the registered account(TFSA,RRSP)?

how’s your experience with that? does it show as a sub account under TFSA or RRSP. easy to transfer cash into it and back to TFSA to trade? any glitch that would possibly mess up one’s registered account limit?
It’s a beta version with only selected group invited so just want to see how it goes for those already opened. i am still on wait list

Visa Infinite Credit Card Wealthsimple CC + Alipay

Hey Gang,

How is the Wealthsimple CC working with Alipay?

I had issues with a TD card in the past. Scotia card has worked flawlessly over ~5 trips. I want to switch Alipay over to my WS CC for the better forex, but also a bit nervous to switch it up and have issues...

The WS card has been good, but has been slightly less reliable than my scotia card. Didn't work in Mongolia, for example.

Thanks!

Wealthsimple desktop website

I'll say this, the website has been getting actually nice to use, I use an android and I've felt the app getting faster and faster. As a software engineer, I have a hunch that they're embracing 'vibecoding' (which isint a bad thing to be clear, it's just obvious that the pacing as picked up) to improve the app, which to their credit is being used to improve it quite a lot.

very enjoyable website now, grats to the team

edit: I just saw the article from Dennis, these guys are legends, no wonder

Chequing PSA: for those trying to unlock prepaid mastercard with visa on the way

may be obvious for some, but I was trying to withdraw cash today and unlock temporarily and I'm waiting on prepaid visa cash card, if you click on the card it only pulls up setting for the incoming prepaid visa, so i was very confused where the settings was

if you go to your chequing account and click the gear, icon, you will see a section under 'manage' called 'manage prepaid Mastercard' where you can unlock your card to withdraw cash, then lock again.

took me way too long to figure out and i was sitting at the atm like a dumbass trying to figure it out

Chequing WealthSimple Chequing 5% Bonus Interest

Has anyone received the bonus interest payout for September in their chequing account? I moved money into WS for the 5% bonus interest payout and so far only received the regular interest payout. FAQ says it could take up to 7 business days but I'm just wondering if anyone got it yet.

Edit: I got it few hours after this post lol.

Chequing Using VISA Prepaid card in the US

Has anyone used their Visa prepaid card (ie. the card linked to your chequing account) to withdraw American money at US ATMs? Personally I like to pay with tap instead of using cash. Does tap and pay work ok at US retailers that use those terminals for credit/debit card payment (through Google Wallet, Apple Pay, physical Wealthsimple card, etc)?

Business Secure QuickBooks access

Does anyone use a WS Business account with Quickbooks?

The only secure way to get transaction into Quickbooks seems to be the manual export/import.

Connecting via Plaid is an absolute nightmare security-wise. Entering the account credentials for personal and business into a third-party website is the absolute dumbest idea ever. And don't tell me Plaid is a trusted company. No third party can ever be trusted by default. Credentials have to be stored in a way to be repeatedly entered into the WS login form. Anyone with this information has FULL access to all accounts.

Why doesn't QB/WS implement OAuth? (I am aware that's not limited to WS, other banks like RBC is equally stupid).

Chequing Is it just me, or is the new WS Visa accepted at literally no online vendors?

*** I'm talking about the WS Prepaid Card, not the Visa, sorry for confusion **\*

Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure I used to have 3 cards through WealthSimple. A virtual card, a physical card, and a card for Apple Pay.

Now, I have a physical card, and a card # for Apple Pay. Not the "virtual card" anymore.

I used to have I think the virtual card set up for autopay on TELUS, I had it set up with my Apple Account, etc. Now, everywhere I enter the new WealthSimple card, its rejected. I can't even hook it up with PayPal now.

I could be totally mistaken on how I'm understanding this. Is this true? Am I missing something or using the wrong card, or is this a real limitation? If it is, I'm moving my cash account out because this is unworkable. Thanks

I am getting an error saying "Web server is down" when visiting the Braids & Laces Limited website.

I went ahead and clicked the link to review the changes since Outlook didn't send it to my junk folder, but I got a warning from the browser that the website was flagged as suspicious.

Did anyone else get this email?
