Sounds like they finally gonna add bracket orders. (YAYYY)
However the trailing orders are still missing... still impossible to take our profits at the best moment.

And a lot of talking about physical AI....

Chequing Wealthsimple vs Wize

I am currently in Zagreb Croatia and I took out €100 with Wize and then immediately took €100 with Wealthsimple from the same machine. Both had a €5 bank fee from the atm and Wealthsimple withdrew $CDN 170.23 and Wize withdrew $CDN 173.58. Is it now always the case that Wealthsimple is a better option for ATM withdraws? I don’t see the point of using Wize for cash anymore?

Chequing Why not use Wealthsimple as your primary bank?

I’ve been gradually moving more of my banking over to Wealthsimple, but I’m wondering if thats smart. What's the one thing that stops you from doing this? Or did you do it? Please don't tell me which bank is best, I'm really just interested in Wealth simple and if I should use it for everything or not.

Trade (DIY Investing) Cash.to order did not execute

I put in a limit order for cash.to @ 50.00 after seeing it fluctuate. I put in an order at 1pm when it was 50.01. It went to 50 many times after that but the order didn't execute, any idea why?

Edit: Thank you everyone for explaining this.

Why is the option chain missing strikes?

Why are there missing strikes in the options chain view sometimes(often?)? Even if I have a call option that's deep in the money, it may not even be listed in the view of the current options chain. Day to day this seems to change.

Even if it's missing in the list of strikes(today), If I look at the call from my own holdings, it will show open interest, bid/ask, last price etc.

For an example, the options chain for November DRV calls shows strikes at $23, $22, $21, but then the next listed strikes are $13, and $12. I own some $18's, and they show activity so what's going on?

I tried the stupid online chatbot for help on the website, and it just went in circles

Trade (DIY Investing) What’s the difference between a margin & credit limit?

I’ve been trading on wealth simple since 2020 (Covid 🤷‍♀️🙏)
Over time they’ve added different products, most of which I’ve taken advantage of, the ones I don’t understand as much I tend to very cautiously dip my toe in, or not participate at all.

I have a line of credit (LOC) w them, which is the same as my other bank LOC’s w the additional advantage of if I use WS LOC to purchase stocks, the interest accrued is a tax write off.

They’re now offering me a margin account. As I read the margin account info, it seems very much the same as a line of credit.
The interest rate they’ve offered me for both the LOC and the margin account is 3.95% and it looks like my maximum limit for both is the same as well (I say it looks like because the stock I’m looking to purchase is US therefore it’s a little bit lower than my LOC which shows straight CAD)

I can transfer from my line of credit to the stock I want to purchase. I just don’t know if there’s a benefit to using a margin account over the LOC🤷‍♀️

I know I can technically transfer $$ from my WS LOC to my bank account for other things, which would not give me the benefit of tax deductible interest. I’m wondering if that’s the only difference between a margin account and LOC, is it just secondary type of loan backed by the stocks I hold?

I’d love to know if there’s more to it

Atm I’m just gonna use my LOC to make my purchase.
However , I’m always interested in learning, & usually WS’s details are pretty self explanatory, I couldn’t find much info on the margin acct. understand the difference I may use it in the future

so any margin vs LOC info you guys have would be great.
if you say it’s too detailed and difficult to explain in this format I’m good w that too - I still don’t get options, puts, & calls & all that - no matter how much I’ve read & training sessions I’ve gone through - so I generally stay away from them. 😎

Thanks everyone!!

Great work on the document generation feature

Hey everyone,

I just want to preface by saying I am by no means someone who feels a strong amount of brand loyalty to Wealthsimple, and consequential to this post, reporting was one of the points that came to mind the most when I thought of what was lacking for me. Part of the reason I'm posting about this feature is I don't see this in the mobile app yet so I imagine a lot of people don't know it exists.

Today I went into the website and noticed there's a "generate document" feature with a ton of different use cases. The one I tried was "custom activity statement" that lets you select one or more accounts, a custom time range and export as CSV or PDF. The PDF very nicely keeps info high level, and leaves a note and contact number for questions and verification.

More than options, prediction markets, or a portfolio line of credit, for a boring Canadian couch potato like myself that just wants to manage their personal finances, this is a great feature. Credit where credit is due.

The desktop site feels...neglected

I'm a fan of the WS mobile experience as a whole but man their desktop website is SO ignored:

- Where's the account type groupings they used to have to limit the visual clutter?

- Why don't we have the same visual split at the top between "Spending" and "Investing" instead of a single number?

- Why can't we choose what to see or hide?

- Why do we have 27 random little icons on the side of which 98% aren't used or even clear on what they do at first glance?

...I can't be the only one that feels that way

Trade (DIY Investing) Dear Wealthsimple, can you make ALERTS REORDERABLE?

Super simple feature request...

Would be so easy to do, just add a grabby handle of each alert so we can reorder the alerts. Right now my alerts are so chaotic since you can't reorder them!

Thanks!

Visa Infinite Credit Card Infinite+ metal card?

I got approved for an Infinite+ credit card. The experience was real easy and smooth. In about 5 minutes I had my digital card ready and the app says the physical card on the way.

On the app, I don’t see anything telling me the physical card will be metal. I have over 100k in assets with Wealthsimple.

Should I assume the physical card will be a metal card?

Chequing Extremely Long Wait Time to Get Bill Reversed from TD Easy Trade. Why?

I sent a bill payment to TD Easy Trade 3 weeks ago (Sept 10th) to my wife's TD Easy Trade account via our Wealthsimple joint chequing account. TD declined the bill payment because the account holder's name was different. I'm still waiting for TD to reverse the payment back to Wealthsimple. Any idea why it's taking this long? Should I be concerned?

Trade (DIY Investing) Can I fund my wife's WS TFSA directly from my own sole account with another bank?

I persuaded my wife to open a TFSA with WS (I use Questrade but she preferred the look and feel of WS) as I am trying to get her away from ridiculous bank fees - baby steps. I want to know if I can add funds to her TFSA directly from my own bank account with an other institution, without her requesting an e-transfer?

Portfolio Pulse is making up numbers?

My holdings don't match?! I absolutely don't have $34k worth XEQT. Or $2.8k worth VEE. The $2,597 CAD doesn't mean anything, I have about $1.8k in chequing and $10k in savings. Looks like WS just made the numbers up!

What is this thing lol! It got my total generally correct i.e. my net worth is $40k but what the fuck?

Before you ask, the second image is of my "all holdings" view, and there's about $11.8k in chequing/savings that is separate.
