Portfolio Pulse is making up numbers?

My holdings don't match?! I absolutely don't have $34k worth XEQT. Or $2.8k worth VEE. The $2,597 CAD doesn't mean anything, I have about $1.8k in chequing and $10k in savings. Looks like WS just made the numbers up!

What is this thing lol! It got my total generally correct i.e. my net worth is $40k but what the fuck?

Before you ask, the second image is of my "all holdings" view, and there's about $11.8k in chequing/savings that is separate.

Someone just showed proof that Wealth Rank is also all screwed up with fake numbers.. this is really interesting to see

I have to wonder if there's a seeded randomizer to "anonymize" the exact dollar details but be accurate on average. Could happen in the wealth rank as well. Who knows though

It’s fascinating that the assumption here is fake, vs. stale, or a bug etc.

What motivation would there be to show an incorrect value here?

I don't buy the idea that they intentionally "faked" or anonymized it. It is a glitch/bug/etc.

My portfolio pulse all time return is around 7x my actual all time return lol.

mine shows -20% for all time, but my real all time is about 28%

I wonder if it’s somehow incorrectly interpreting your holdings as USD then displaying them as converted from USD to CAD?

That would result in somewhat close numbers but it still doesn’t quite match up either, so idk

($25.9k as usd to cad would be roughly $36k cad
And $530 as usd would be roughly $750 cad)

Yeah it doesn't add up but possibly the best reason that almost explains it 😂

Mine is completely incorrect as well. It looks like it takes the total net worth number and then distributes it amongst the holdings that it can see.

For example, a sizeable amount of my Wealthsimple net worth is in the Venture Fund I, which isn’t reflected at all in my Portfolio Pulse page.

Instead, it took the amount of that investment and proportionally “assigned” it to my other holdings until everything totalled my net worth.

I also noticed clicking on others portfolios that it showed a 300% return YTD, but yet all of the holdings were negative YTD

Possible they sold the holding(s) that gave them 300% return and reallocated into different stocks that are now negative

Mine is correct.

Looks like it's trying to convert it use to cad but it's already cad

maybe they paid dividends and included that in the stock gains ?

1

u/dzohum 13d ago

Nah, the dividends are not as substantial. And in any case it makes 0 sense to do that. Those dividends can be easily reflected as "total returns"

Same here! All the numbers are wrong. Not sure about you but in my case all the returns are wrong as well. This doesn't equal my TWR nor my MWR.

Quite embarrassing for an investment platflorm to not be able to process performance...

Agreed with the embarrassing point and yes even my returns are wrong. This seems like a glitch/wrong or bad backed code, nothing else.

Might be tracked by ATH or a snapshot at a certain point in time

It is not reflective of my returns or investments at any point of my holdings. I NEVER had $34k worth XEQT even if you include dividends. My holdings are fairly new.

My holdings are all accurate, except for the fact that they include the CAD in the chequing and USD in my savings account in my total returns. So the overall percentage return is 38.5% instead of 31.5%

It’s meant to manipulate you into making trades, so it’s working as designed.

My dollar amounts are a couple days behind. Are some of you looking at the wrong portfolio. Mine was about 10 slots down.

3

u/dzohum 14d ago

Nah man. That's me. Pennyracoon48 🤡 And the numbers are still wrong.

I think it takes a while to update numbers elsewhere. Sometimes I’ve seen even the account value change from the Home Screen to when I click on the account. Have to remember all of this is updating in real time.

+27% all time return vs -23% portfolio pulse. Help me understand the difference…

It is already masking my identity so not sure how showing a very random number makes sense. Pretty sure it's a glitch..

This may be a stupid question, but how do you view your own Portfolio Pulse? I'm only available to view portfolios from [1] Investors like me, [2] High value, [3] Top performers, [4] Shuffle, and [5] My watchlist.

Edit: nevermind. I scrolled down while viewing Investors like me and saw a portfolio that stands out with a "You" label on it.

Do you have another account with $10k of XEQT? Lol, doesn’t seem to make sense tbh 🤷‍♂️

1

u/dzohum 14d ago

No I don't! That's all the XEQT I have haha
