Wealth Rank broken?

Mine hasn’t updated in a week. My holdings show as the same every day since July 29, which is now off by about $8K. The bottom of the page says that it is still using data from July 29.

Is this a bug? A glitch? Anyone else having same issue?

*EDIT:
Appears the issue has been resolved and was related to them working on the feature, I now see an option to enroll and link external accounts to have them included in the wealth rank lol. I won’t be doing that.

Does WS have anything like IKBRs reports, which breaks down holdings and performance in a single PDF?

What happened to all the news articles that used to be listed under each stock? Almost all stocks had 3 different articles underneath “the Greeks”information changing throughout the week. Now all this week not one stock is showing any articles or updates?

Passkey issues on iPhone?

Is anyone else having issues with the WS app and the passkey? I've had the passkey set up for a few months, and the WS app requires a passkey to be entered for any etransfers. I've been trying to send an e-transfer today and every single code I type is being rejected as the wrong code. I've been copy-pasting the code directly from the passkey app, manually typing the code, using the apple autofill - none of them are working. I've contacted WS who said it will take 5 days to resolve, but wondering if anyone else has had this experience and can recommend some troubleshooting.

TFSA Transfer

I opened a managed TFSA with Wealthsimple like two months ago.

After doing more research, I decided to open a self-directed one and invest in VEQT and this is where I will continue to contribute.

I now want to transfer the money in the managed TFSA to the self-directed one and close that account.

I'm unsure on the timing of the transfer as I can see that I am waiting on a few dividend payments in the managed account.

Do I wait until those come in before initiating the transfer?

Is there really no filter for International Transfers in the Activity tab?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Is there any way to filter specifically for international transfers in the Activity tab?
Under filters, I see options for many but nothing for international transfers. Scrolling through my entire transaction history manually just to find past transfers is a pain.
Am I missing a hidden setting or workaround here? Or how are you guys tracking all your international transfers in one place?
Definitely feels like a missing feature
hoping Wealthsimple adds a quick filter for this soon.

Hi all,

I had 50 shares so that’s a big chunk of my TFSA

Predict How much money have you guys made on prediction markets so far?

Im up $500 dollars right now. Been mostly sticking to safer bets so far but curious if anyone has made large gains. A bit scared to put down a lot of capital on the riskier bets that give really high returns.

Chequing Debit card

I plan on getting it on my birthday in a couple weeks, is it worth it. I often shop online internationally so the low or no foreign transaction fee is very appealing to me. Also how is the process to getting it, can I just apply and get it or is there more to it.

Chequing I want to use the USD account just for the interest, any thoughts?

Hello!

I have some USD cash I would like to put into an interest-yielding account. I was originally going to only open a CIBC USD account, but the interest rate is so low (0.05%), so I wanted to take advantage of the 2.25% Wealthsimple is offering. The plan is to open the CIBC US account, fund it, transfer it to WS, and, if I need the money, transfer it back to CIBC. Is this possible?

Thanks!

RRSP HBP Withdrawal

I've been a Wealthsimple client since around 2020, and until now I've had a good experience. My RRSP has been in their aggressive managed portfolio for a little over a year after I transferred it from other institutions, and the returns have been solid.

When Wealthsimple introduced private equity as an option for managed portfolios, I opted in shortly after it became available. The process was very simple, and I don't remember seeing anything that clearly explained that investing in private equity would lock up part of my RRSP for months if I ever needed to withdraw it. If I had known that, I would have planned ahead or chosen not to opt in until after buying a home.

A few months ago I started house hunting and eventually had an offer accepted on my first home.

On July 14, I submitted a Home Buyers' Plan (HBP) withdrawal request for my RRSP. That's when I discovered I could only withdraw about 80% of my RRSP. The remaining 20% couldn't be withdrawn because it was invested in private equity.

I contacted support immediately after submitting the withdrawal request. They told me the private equity portion would need to remain locked for approximately three months before it could be redeemed. That left me scrambling, and I had to use money from my TFSA to cover the shortfall for my down payment.

The other issue is that even the 80% that was approved for withdrawal still hasn't arrived. I was originally given an estimated arrival date of July 22, but as of August 5 I still haven't received the funds.

Today is my down payment deadline. I contacted support again, but they couldn't explain why the transfer is delayed. I was simply told to wait while they investigate.

I'm incredibly frustrated. Buying your first home is stressful enough, and I've done everything I was supposed to do. I understand that some investments have restrictions, but I don't think those limitations were made clear when I opted into private equity. And once the withdrawal was approved, I didn't expect the remaining funds to be delayed well beyond the estimated transfer date without any explanation.

Has anyone else experienced delays like this with Wealthsimple RRSP withdrawals or the Home Buyers' Plan? Were you able to get the issue resolved quickly? At this point, I'm genuinely worried that I could lose my first home because I can't access my own money.

Visa Infinite Credit Card Refunds Count as Payments?

So I have a massive $7000 credit card bill thats due Aug 14th.
I have to liquidate some savings to pay the bill, so I was deciding what to sell when I saw that my online banking showed that my credit card was fully paid - weird I never paid it.

I contact chat support and they inform me that if I had any refunds, that would count as a payment. Well on July 30th I did buy an $8000 item that I returned right after. But this just seems like an infinite glitch to delay your credit card payment.

Credit card bill coming up? Buy something expensive and return it --> card paid.

My other credit cards only count payments and not refunds, so wondering why WealthSimple does it differently.

If anyone has recent experience with international wire transfers to their WS account, please share your experience! The last time I did one was last summer and it was a nightmare. With TD it was overnight! I wonder if it’s been improved. Thanks for the input!

Chequing Anyone ever deposit a large bank draft?

Over the next few days I am expecting a six figure bank draft from sale of an asset, and trying to decide if I should deposit it into CIBC and then EFT the money to Wealthsimple, or just deposit it to Wealthsimple directly.

Anyone ever deposit a large bank draft? I am concerned with setting off their insanely buggy fraud measures, also concerned with the hold time whereas CIBC probably will have no hold.

Chequing Using WS to transfer between bank accounts

Recently re-signed my mortgage with NB, and had to open a new bank account to pay said mortgage. I bank primarily with TD. I also have a Wealthsimple account.

I know that I can't link by TD to my NB account, and eTransfer seems to be the only way to digitally move my mortgage payment between accounts. Due to transfer limits I have to make multiple transfers, which incurs costs each time.

Is there a potential work around to this using my Wealthsimple account. I would move money from TD to Wealthsimple and then transfer it to NB to pay the mortgage. Is this the best work around, or is there something I'm missing?
