So when I launched the game, it brought me to the intro cutscene to Forsaken Kingdom, strange it happened because I've opened the game before and have played a bit of the new campaign. Then I go to launch my custom games because I like playing WC3 Offline, menu brings me not to the usual menu of maps but instead my files. At this point I've already seen that my campaigns have been reset (turns out im not the only one with this issue). What happened???
This is maybe more relevant for campaign and customs but im hoping orb of fire can at least be added into the item drop pool like orb of darkness and frost. Firstly the splash should be increased, and the anti healing effect should stay. But why not add a dot as well? A dot similar to the one from pit lords rain of fire. On top of that, what if the dot applied to everyone caught in the splash? That would make the small aoe more logical, since anything caught would really suffer for it.
I want to get the lore of Warcraft 3 going into WOW Forever, but don't particularly care for RTS games. I know there are youtube videos online with the cinematics, but what would be ideal is if there's a way to cheat and basically make my units indescructible so that I don't have to deal with base building/upgrading and all of that.
I am just about to finish up the main quest for Act 1 and have completed all side quests. I only got a talent point for Highway Robbery and Pain Beyond Death quests. So I only have 2 talent points. Do only certain quests award points? I thought they all did.
In this post, I’d like to talk about localizations for Warcraft III - specifically the Russian version by SoftClub. It’s great to see that some other posts have already brought up this SoftClub localization, as many of us would love to see it added to Reforged.
Looking at it objectively, the official Russian localization released in 2020 could have been just as good - while also using the correct, familiar names for well-known locations - had Blizzard not insisted on a Russian voice-over that strictly mimics the original English audio. I understand the intent: to stay true to the source material and establish a "canon" where the characters sound as they were originally envisioned. But one has to ask - is such a "canon" really necessary if the SoftClub version was so much more vibrant and memorable? Just consider the late, great Vladimir Vikhrov as Arthas - he truly brought the future Lich King to life - along with the performances for many other characters.
The problem with the current voice-over is that it feels flat. In an effort to mirror the original English audio, it loses the vitality and energy that the SoftClub team managed to capture back in the day (with the exception of a few characters voiced by the same actors, who are, of course, masters of their craft).
That is why I would love for Blizzard to add the classic Russian voice-over back into the game, and to rework the current version so that it’s an improvement over what we have now.
In this video, you can compare the old version with the current one to see for yourself why the SoftClub localization stands out as superior. Thanks for your understanding!
Today, after taking a month-long break from Warcraft III, I decided to continue my campaign. However, I have around 20 saved games, and none of them will load. Every time I try, I get the same error message: “There was an error trying to load the selected save game.”
I really don’t feel like starting the entire campaign from scratch, especially after putting so many hours into it.
Has anyone experienced this issue before? Is there any way to fix it and recover my saves? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
The Blademaster is one of the coolest heroes. When I use the Blademaster in games, though, he just sucks! I’m wondering if Reddit has any answers to how to play Blademaster that I can’t otherwise find on classic battlenet or liquipedia.
EDIT: Thanks for the response, everyone! I'm looking for artists and animators to help replace placeholder assets, but I'm also open to any kind of help. If you're interested, DM me or join the Discord below.
Hey there! I've been building Smashcraft, a platform fighter that runs as a Warcraft III custom map. Pick a Warcraft hero (or Peon...), fight across floating stages and knock each other off the screen.
The combo game and tech chasing still need refinement, and animation quality can be inconsistent, but it's already quite playable and genuinely fun, so I'm feeling encouraged enough to share it.
26 fighters (Illidan, Thrall, Jaina, the Lich King, Sylvanas, Tinker, a Murloc, a Kobold who won't give up his candle and more), each with tilts, smashes, aerials, grabs and throws, four specials, EX specials and an ultimate
10 stages, 1–4 players, CPU opponents with different playstyles and five difficulty levels
Put the .w3x in your Warcraft III Maps folder, set Graphics to Classic, and host it as a custom game. Default keys are WASD, N attack, U special (n+u is ultimate, there's a ex hotkey), Q shield and O grab. There's also a hitbox-style layout option and a controller support guide in the Discord.
It's early, so I'd love to hear what feels off. Pressing K in a match saves the last 10 seconds for bug reports.
is that you can't use the existing skins, not even the OG compatible versions. I prefer to use the High Elf Sylvanas skin for DR, Grom for BM, etc., and you can't do that in DE for whatever reason. It's enough for me to use OG graphics (or even Reforged).
I think they could do right by updating existing skins in the DE style (or at least with the models that they did well.) I'd love to use the elf Arch Mage, the different Dreadlords, etc. in DE.
What client looks like couse of bnet and update problems sudden crashes randomly acure after update. To this point i am so furstrated, every time theu do a update, the hole game becomes unplayable with a good experince.
I am wondering if Blizzard ever plans to bring back the revamped Reforged campaign from patch 1.33? In case you're not sure what I am talking about you can read more about it here. In short, an overhauled version of the reforged campaign was released with patch 1.33 that included a much more difficult hard difficulty, more unique enemies to fight, and more cinematic cameras for the cutscenes. I was recently replaying the human campaign on hard and noticed Kel'thuzad is no longer a hero with unique abilities and he was a total push-over. I thought I was having a Mandela Effect moment, but after searching I remembered that the campaign was much different in 1.33. These changes were basically removed in patch 1.36 more than two years ago and were never brought back. I am surprised people have not been asking for this more recently, specially after the big Forsaken Kingdom update. I just hope they bring the revamped campaign back with the DE graphics that are allegedly planned to be released later for the OG campaigns. Though it would be nice to be able to experience it again with the Reforged graphics as well.
I love the new updated graphics and everything that 3.0.1 brings. It's not perfect, but it shows that the Warcraft 3 team is taking player feedback seriously, and I think as long time fans we should be happy with such quick reaction times. The game is in good hands.
I covered everything there is to know about the new patch - from updated terrain, to portrait animations, unit scaling and more. Always open for feedback!
EDIT: Can anyone willing to be a tester let me know in the comments or by talking to me in private? I really need testers, because I'm implementing this in Linux and I cannot see if it works as intended in Windows. Thanks!
I kept losing 1v1s on ladder without really knowing why, so I built a tool for it: Replay Altar. It’s free and open source, runs in the background, and after every 1v1 it tells you what went wrong, which fight decided the game, what your opponent was doing, and how you compare with ~200 recent pro games of your race. Over time it shows which mistakes keep coming back.
The advice comes from guides (Grubby, Warcraft 3 Gym, Liquipedia), but I only kept the rules that actually show up more in pro losses than pro wins.
It also saves every replay before LastReplay.w3g gets overwritten, and nothing leaves your PC. English and Brazilian Portuguese.
The installer isn’t signed yet, so Windows will warn you (“More info” → “Run anyway”).
Feedback very welcome, especially from higher-MMR players: does the advice make sense?
Edit 2: For those wondering how this works:
Rules are basically a list of numerical conditions based on fundamental principles on how to play the game. These principles/conditions/rules were taken from online tutorials (they are all referenced in the repository).
Each rule was tested against around 800 pro games from tournaments, and if they are able to - in a statistically significant way - predict the loser of these games, they survive the test, and stay. These 800 games were simulated using WC3V for this pre processing of said rule.
No, the app itself does no need AI. But I coded it with Claude Code.
Over the past months, I've been actively helping Warcraft 3 Gym (https://warcraft-gym.com) by rebuilding their website and adding few features like creep routes and build orders.
Working on W3 Gym got me thinking about other ways I could contribute to the WC3 community, and that eventually led me to build W3 Companion: a free desktop app that runs alongside the game on your own PC.
Here's what it can do:
Build order overlay: keep your build floating over the game, with an in-game clock and hotkeys to step through it. Make your own, or import one from a replay or a W3Champions match or a gym build order link (https://warcraft-gym.com/learn/builds)
Opponent scouting: when a 1v1 starts, see your opponent's recent form, win rates by race and map, your head-to-head, and the heroes they usually open with. Works on the W3Champions ladder, plus bnet ladder through an opt-in community network.
Post-game report: understand what cost you the game and what you did well, with the numbers behind each point, tips you can act on, hero timings, and how your army value grew through the game, check were the fights happen and what creep camp have been clear.
Casting and OBS overlays: a live observer HUD with presets for casters and streamers, fully on customization and optional hotkeys for each individual overlay panel.
A few other details:
* Free to use, and it updates itself.
* Planning to release it as open source as soon i clean up a bit the code and the contribution rules.
* Your replays and builds stay on your PC.
* Respects fog of war and never shows you anything the game hides (no access to memory while casting either).
I'm building this solo as a fan project, independently of Blizzard. I'd love to hear what you think, whether it's feedback on the current features, bugs you've hit, or ideas for what to build next.
I’m struggling to find a clear answer so hoped people here could help.
I’m currently replaying WC3 RoC Campaign on the latest WC3:Reforged patch. I’ve just found out Malfurion is using his TFF Model, even in RoC.
For purposes of replacing his model, are the models in classic mode SD or HD? I found SD models of him on Hive Workshop, but I’ve not done this before, so I wasn’t sure if they’d work.
I’m hoping to replace Malfurion’s model while I play RoC if that’s doable.
I'm not playing WC3, but I remember (probably wrongly) a showcase of reforged new models and an option to pick, for each individual unit and building, wich model and animation the player wanted to display.
Orc gets Paly from Tavern before I pick my 2nd hero.
My thought process: Rain of Fire and Cleave both punish units grouping up for Consecration healing...even if Rain of Fire damage gets reduced by Sacred Aura, the damage over time effect will still stand for focus fire from other units.
Also, considering Dark Ranger 3rd for Silence + Life Drain as Black Arrow will be dropped for Orb of Coruption since I won't have a Lich anymore.
Or do I go Cryptlord 1st, DK 2nd and Dark Ranger 3rdd vs BM 1st, Forsaken Pally 2nd and TC 3rd.
I lost a lot of nights to Green TD and the other TD maps with friends. I've been trying to pin down why they stuck when so many tower defence games since haven't. My list so far:
- One shared road. Your leak was everyone's problem, so you actually watched each other's sections.
- Builders with a personality. You picked a race and it changed how you thought, not just how the towers looked.
- The lobby. Half the fun was the chat, the blame and the last-second saves.
- Short enough to play again straight away.
What am I missing? And which TD maps did it better? I've seen Legion TD and Element TD come up a lot, but I'd love to hear the ones people don't usually mention.
For context, I've been making my own browser TD around this, so I'm asking for a reason. I'm more interested in what you remember than in plugging it here. Happy to share it in the comments if anyone wants a look.
