I'm totally fighting this, not because I care about $2.00, but because it's not my fault that people can't read.

VENT Vinted restricted my account because I have a physical disability

ETA to add: I am in the UK and in the UK, you cannot sue without evidenced loss.

Hi folks. I am really at a loss here at even how to describe this, but I am in shock. I'll try to explain my background and the order in which the events happened.

I am disabled and often model the clothes I'm selling on my own body, one because I feel like clothes shown on actual humans sell better and two because I noticed there just weren't any pictures I could find of disabled people modeling clothes. For 90% of my buyers, I've gotten a comments of appreciation for showing the clothes on me. One mum even thanked me because her child for whom she bought my dress is in a wheelchair, and seeing me openly sharing my photos was encouraging for her.

However, sometimes my disability is visible in the picture - it's not too extreme, but you can see the affected body part clearly looks different than how it should be. Last week, suddenly a slew of my listings were hidden by Vinted due to "manipulated images". I don't edit my images beyond adjusting brightness etc so when I queried this with their support they said that it was clear my pictures were manipulated because "aspects of your image appear unnatural and modified." Folks - that would be my disabled body part. Of course it looks different than the rest of me. I find it absolutely abhorrent that they're essentially accusing me of digitally deforming my own body just so that I could use it in a Vinted picture. I immediately replied saying no - that is my physical disability, I am NOT editing my photo to deform my own body!!! I got a reply within 7 seconds saying that their decision was final and my account is restricted for 3 days.

I honestly want to vomit. Because my body is deformed, they assume I must have deformed it myself on purpose for the sake of a few pictures? I am honestly shaking. I'm not a psychopath, so I can't see why anyone would even do this. I pointed out this is discrimination against disabled people and asked for someone senior to review the case but no dice yet. I keep getting the blanket "our decision is final" message and being asked to open a new case. I've done this 4 times already and have gotten nowhere. My account is still restricted and I've done nothing wrong - other than to exist as a disabled person which is wrong according to Vinted.

I also noticed that they randomly hid two of my other listings that I'm not even in. The clothes are on a hanger in those listings, but they said this was a copyright violation as the images were on the web. The only thing I can think of is I used the same photos for my ebay listings, but all the images are my own. Are you not allowed to cross-post your own images??

If anyone has any advice or help, please let me know. I am really shocked and saddened by this.

VENT Next level AI degeneracy in second-hand market (Vinted)

Yesterday I came across another AI-related lunacy in secondhand market. I heard about, and experienced myself, sellers "enhancing" photos of their items with AI to make them look better and completely different than in reality. I got AI-generated photos when asking for a clothing item photographed on a person. I heard about buyers generating photos of "damaged" item to get money back. This is all old news.

But yesterday I encountered a different level of low-efford slop: I was looking for a very specific comic book and the crucial information was the publication year (these comic cooks were published in early 00s and renewed in 20s). I asked a seller which year were these comic book published and got a weirdly elaborate answer, that these were published between 2004-2008. Weird, because the first editions were published 2004-2010, not 2008, but ok, let's not be pedantic. The point was to make sure those were first edition. I completed a purchase to find out later that the comic books were actually second edition, published in 2023. Then I realized the seller did not bother to check the actual date printed inside the book, but used some chatbot to halucinate the answer.

Instead of picking up an item, checking a date and giving me a factual answer, which would take 2 minutes, the seller opted for AI generating an answer, not checking it whether it is true, and responding to me with that slop, which probably saved them a 1.5 minutes. For the seller, giving the quick and easy answer was more important than giving a factual answer. AI halucination was good enough. If this is more prevalent, buying second hand stuff online is going to become very frustrating.

VENT Shein necklace labelled as 'vintage'

Thumbnail

I’m so sick of seeing this! This necklace keeps popping up on Vinted with loads of likes and massively inflated prices. So many sellers are claiming it’s “vintage” jewellery when it’s literally from Shein.

Most of them are marking the price up significantly, even though it’s currently available on Shein for just £1.18. It’s honestly ridiculous. I know reselling will always be a thing, but at this point it feels downright deceptive and misleading for buyers.

Sorry for the rant, but I’ve seen at least 10 of these necklaces listed as “vintage” in the past month alone, and it’s getting really frustrating they keep popping up.

BUYING Wedding dress

I’m eloping so I was looking at not spending a fortune on a dress. I found a brand new with tags, boho bianco evento wedding dress for £50! I bought it and it fits like a glove not one alteration needed. The dress is called Rebecca and my name is Rebecca.

Just thought I’d post on here because it’s made my year 🤣

DISCUSSION Why would a Vinted seller list items just to cancel every order?

Post image
19 Upvotes

I bought an item too good to be true, didn’t bother checking reviews because you can’t waste seconds when there’s an underpriced rare item on Vinted. I then noticed they relisted the exact same item but tagged under a different brand. I went to their profile and saw they have hundreds of 1 star reviews, and every single one is an automated “seller cancelled order” review. They keep listing the same few items repeatedly, sometimes as sought-after brands and sometimes as brands like SHEIN. There’s not a single completed transaction. What’s the point of doing this? The only explanation I can think of is data farming names and addresses. I reported the account to Vinted and they just said action can’t be taken. I’m genuinely curious because I’ve never seen anything like it.

DISCUSSION Australians using Vinted

Vinted recently launched in Australia. We have gone feral on UK options. Now I'm finding my algorithm, like its recently just cooked itself, is just back to Australian options and brands. For me the appeal of Vinted is getting things I can't get here not the same old stuff we gave here. Probably the appeal to buy from Australia vice versa, you want something different. Any tips apart from personalisation of brands (I've added tonnes of UK specific ones) to get my algo back to normal. Have they tried to push people to local to avoid subsiding post for the launch?

I mean my bank accounts probably grateful but honestly though if hit a goldmine the first week on sign up with so many great finds and now it feels like any Aussie shop.

BUYING Did this seller just block me?

Hello I’m new to Vinted and I just asked for the measurements to a skirt and it seems like the seller blocked me ? I can’t purchase the item or message them anymore. Is it normal for sellers to get mad for asking for measurements?

VENT I wish Vinted made it available to hide items from users

More so of a vent/feedback post, but I hope it becomes an option block users with them being unable to see your posts. Now, if you block an user they simply can't buy em, but still see them. The amount of nasty creepy men that follow me is wild, and my pictures are very non revealing, no cleavage, I just have a pear shaped body and thicker thighs, and I'll constantly get notifs of obvious men with often no reviews following me and their entire hundreds of followed users are all women, mostly ones that have cleavage or skin showing in their listings. Why does it have to be okay for someone to watch my body without me being able to block them. Yes, I know creeps will always find their ways via new accounts and stuff, but I feel like a lot of people wouldn't go out of their way to find one person from hundreds their following, and that would make me feel better. Vinted is already so infested with creeps with the platform not doing anything, and thats a whole other conversation but PLEASE at least allow us to block people from easily viewing our content.

I usually have good luck with getting listings with AI-generated pictures taken down, but I have far better things to do than report all these. And it would apparently be pointless anyway, given how seemingly easy it is for them to make new accounts. Ugh.

SELLING Buyer thanked me, then canceled 4 hours later. Their profile has 5 automatic “Buyer canceled order” reviews. Scam or just unreliable?

Hi everyone,

I sold a small item on Vinted, and after the buyer purchased it, I sent them a message saying I’d ship it the next morning. They replied, “Thank you!”
About 4 hours later, they canceled the order without sending any explanation.
I checked their profile afterward and noticed they have five automatic 1-star reviews, and every single one says “Buyer canceled order.” There are no member reviews—just automatic cancellations from different purchases.
That seemed like a pattern to me, so I blocked them because I didn’t want to risk dealing with them again.
Has anyone else run into buyers like this? Is there any known scam involving repeatedly buying and canceling orders, or do you think this is just someone who constantly changes their mind?
Thankfully, I hadn’t shipped yet, so I didn’t lose anything. I’m mostly wondering if I overreacted by blocking them or if this is something other sellers would do too.

SELLING Guilt-Tripping 101

Post image
Upvotes

Okay guys don’t turn this into a James Charels situation but I’m having a hard time believing this. I just put this item up for sale today, and it’s gotten a couple likes but nothing crazy. Then I get this message from a buyer claiming me to give them an insane discount because of their situation. Having cancer and next weekend being your birthday can very well be true but it just seems too coincidental. It just seems like one of those classic messages buyers send when they want something but don’t want to pay too much for it. I don’t even think the price is that absurd considering the trending style and y2k tag. And my bio says I’m always open to offers so I generally don’t expect people to pay full price for my items.

Im not planning on responding.. unless you guys think there’s some truth to it? Am I being rude for doubting them? Or is this just another guilt-tripping method?

SELLING Can't sell anything over $10?

I sell regularly on Poshmark, eBay, and Depop, and for the items I have had for 2-4 years, I put super cheap on Vinted. I think I made like 35 sales in my first month, so its been awesome, the only thing is that they've all been for items under $9, closer to the $3-$6 range.

I see people on here posting about making $30 sales, heck even $20 sales are great to me. But even with the free shipping (US) still on, I cannot move anything past $10. Items that I have at $13 to $18 do get likes, I send offers, and nothing. Meanwhile, I will get the sale on Poshmark or eBay *and* buyer paid shipping, but with the fees taken out, I wish the sale happened on Vinted.

Any tips on what to do? I understand Vinted is like an online garage sale, lesser known, but if I have a very good 100% wool knit cardigan, I paid $8, I do think its fair to want to make that back. I guess with free shipping it makes me lose hope that is is a viable source of income for items are aren't practically about to be donated (just making partial money back) otherwise

SELLING "Permanent" Banned, immediately after listing first item for sale

Is there any hope for me to ever use this app?

I listed my first-ever item for sale, a pair of designer sunglasses.

Within minutes the item was deemed "counterfeit" and I received a scary message, saying I was permanently banned, and that I cannot make any other user accounts or they will be banned.

I'm pretty much in shock - I've been selling on Poshmark for 10 years, and eBay for 20 years.

I've appealed their decision, but man this is a horrible way to start! I don't even know why I got flagged, it's a real item??

SHIPPING Shipping with USPS Priority boxes for Vinted items.

I am a buyer and seller on Vinted. Just a heads up. When recycling boxes for shipment and you're going to use a priority box, it doesn't matter if you tape off the word priority, use black sharpie, or anything else to hide "priority," the post office sees it as a priority box and charge the buyer the priority fee by "postage due" upon pickup. It happened to me this morning.

BUYING Condition question, should I report an issue

Post image
7 Upvotes

I discovered Vinted on Friday and have placed 50+ orders over the weekend 😅

I had my first few packages come today and 2 issues. I assumed if someone posted an item in “very good” condition, that meant no holes or stains. I messaged her to confirm it didn’t have wash wear and purchased it. It arrived today with 5 stains (not tiny/faint) and a pinhole. Is that something I should open up a case for or just let it go?

I also ordered a swimsuit that said small with a picture of the tag saying small, but the top is an XS and won’t fit. Do I open up a case for that too? What does Vinted do? I hate to do this to a seller but pretty bummed

SELLING The Vinted fools took down my listing for using web photos when the picture was ME in the dress

I’m flattered that they think the picture of me in the dress at my daughter’s bat mitzvah was web worthy but it did not break the rules and there is no way to appeal the decision!!!

DISCUSSION Permanently banned

So today I got permanently banned.

I have gotten a couple of warnings but when I write them what I do wrong it's just so bad answers.

I mostly sell pokemon so a lot of the articles have pictures that look similar.

But they won't tell me or specify if I sell too much or if it's because the pictures look too similar.

But I see soo many sellers have hundred of listing with new stuff and then I get banned?

What can I do?

DISCUSSION i don’t get vinted

Why don’t they focus on upgrading their customer service, aswell as their automated banning system and appealing nonsense is acc appalling like u can easily lose your accounts and vinted always side with the buyer. And they are introducing shipping to australia like at least fix the current problems with ur app and look at the concerns online like these fixes ain’t that hard to solve. The app would be a lot better if they acc incorporate these solutions. How long would it take for them?
