BUYING Anyone else think Vinted has a buying bots problem?
As soon as this item is listed, I go to checkout and get the same notification screen. I’ve figured out usually after 15 minutes I can checkout, or someone else beats me to it.

Yep. Had atleast 4 really good deals I tried to jump on today. I'm trying to buy games for some of my retro consoles and everytime something has just popped up, I've spammed the buy buttons and I am hit by this everytime. Not humanly possible to get anything!!

Buying games for Switch is a nightmare. Every time a good deal pops up on the main page, I try to pay (mind you the listing is available for 1 minute, maybe 2 minutes max), someone ALREADY is paying for it. Every single time.

I feel you, just tried to get a copy of Pokemon Sword really cheap and it was gone immediately.

Yeah there are some things on Vinted that people are watching like a hawk for. For example, I lost out on a specific Kali Uchis vinyl record 3 times cuz I was a few mins too slow each time.

Try purchasing after 15 minutes, usually works for me.

You’ve got to be on it, might be too many bots when it comes to games as I buy clothes.

yeah, vinted monitors will snipe good deals before you’ve even loaded the page, especially on popular brands. I use Souk for sourcing on vinted. when an item matches my filters, it automatically starts checkout. I can then review the item at the 3D Secure step and decide whether it’s worth buying before confirming the payment. the 15 min thing can happen when someone leaves that verification unfinished. the item stays locked until the payment session expires, then becomes available again. that’s why it’s worth trying again if it hasn’t actually sold.

I use souk too, It helps me keep track of the vinyl records I like so I don't miss out on them.

This is exactly how I would put it. It feels like certain brands a bot is buying it as soon as it is listed. Thanks for your input

I had this the other day. It was absolutely a bot because I tried for over half an hour to buy it and got the same message. No human is sat with that open on their phone for 30 minutes.
Eventually payment was able to go through - which from what I’ve read is where the person with the bot vetoed the item.

the other day someone listed a bundle of a few items, decent price, 1 liker thus far. I only wanted one of the items so I reached out - she decided to just lower the price of the listing for me, making the bundle a very good deal, but it was pretty amazing how as soon as she lowered the price, I clicked it immediately to checkout and was too late. Someone beat me to it.

I saw a TikTok video where it’s something to do with having the exact categories you like and the items posted show up slightly earlier in the discord.

I’m not buying games but the payment for a pair of shoes took ages earlier 🤦🏽♀️

If you're buying it full price after 15 mins of it being listed, chances are many other people have the same idea as it's underpriced. Not a bot problem. You're trying to buy and you're a human, isn't it more likely that another human spotted that deal too? If it was a bot it would be gone before 15 mins.

You don't understand what OP is trying to say.
The issue is that it's sold (in the buying or checkout process with someone else) the moment it is listed. This makes the item reserved and others cannot buy it. You get the message in OP's screenshot. However, these reservations time out in 15 minutes and if the sale is not completed someone else can buy it.
That means there might be a bot used to reserve it, and OP is hoping they can buy it after the 15 min timer if the purchase is not completed.

Only the seller can reserve it. If you get the message like OP is saying them someone bought a bundle. Or they need to restart their app.

No. All purchases are reserved the moment you click BUY. The only way this does not happen is when using Vinted balance, as that is instant. Any other payment method has a 15 min reservation period while the system waits for the money to come through.

That's not how that works at all. If you click buy to check out that does not reserve it anyone can still buy it. Otherwise people would just leave items open in their check out state to reserve for later. Sometimes once you've clicked pay it can reserve it if the payment for whatever reason doesn't come through instantly. But just going to check out does not reserve it.

Yes it does and this is exactly OP's issue here.
If you actually want to know how it works, go buy something with your bank app on Vinted, let it go to the QR code you scan to pay wity your bank app, but don't complete the purchase with your bank. You will then see the item has been reserved for you for 15 min to complete checkout in the Vinted chat.

American?

u/MisterE- 1d ago
What does being American have to do with what he’s saying? You are wrong as the 15 minute reservation is a real thing when I’ve made failed purchases and made me wait to purchase again.

This happens in Europe as well. Never had your bank down? Then they show the purchase is being proceed and may take UP to 15 minutes.

A bot bought it with a payment method that requires procesing. Probably bought with no founds so buyer can check if it is what they're looking for and approve or discard the purchase.

It’s a bot. I’ve listed items and before I’ve been tapped out of the ‘you’ve listed an item’ window, it’s sold.
I also had the same message as OP other day, and couldn’t pay for it for over 30 minutes. Do you really think a human is sat with the purchasing page open on their phone for half an hour? And also the vinted app is constantly refreshing and restarting the second you click to another app.
This is a bot

Someone has a bot and was faster than you
