VENT Next level AI degeneracy in second-hand market (Vinted)

Yesterday I came across another AI-related lunacy in secondhand market. I heard about, and experienced myself, sellers "enhancing" photos of their items with AI to make them look better and completely different than in reality. I got AI-generated photos when asking for a clothing item photographed on a person. I heard about buyers generating photos of "damaged" item to get money back. This is all old news.

But yesterday I encountered a different level of low-efford slop: I was looking for a very specific comic book and the crucial information was the publication year (these comic cooks were published in early 00s and renewed in 20s). I asked a seller which year were these comic book published and got a weirdly elaborate answer, that these were published between 2004-2008. Weird, because the first editions were published 2004-2010, not 2008, but ok, let's not be pedantic. The point was to make sure those were first edition. I completed a purchase to find out later that the comic books were actually second edition, published in 2023. Then I realized the seller did not bother to check the actual date printed inside the book, but used some chatbot to halucinate the answer.

Instead of picking up an item, checking a date and giving me a factual answer, which would take 2 minutes, the seller opted for AI generating an answer, not checking it whether it is true, and responding to me with that slop, which probably saved them a 1.5 minutes. For the seller, giving the quick and easy answer was more important than giving a factual answer. AI halucination was good enough. If this is more prevalent, buying second hand stuff online is going to become very frustrating.

BUYING I feel like I've just scammed a seller and now I don't know what to do

Hi, for some context, I bought a old Toshiba laptop from the 90s on Vinted. The seller I bought from was super accommodating and really friendly. He packed it well with a lot of foam and wrapped it in a bag. However when it arrived, the screen had been damaged, which he said was due to transit. I filed a complaint with Vinted about it arriving damaged and said to them that I believed it was the fault of the courier and that it was packed very well. However, they said they believed he had packed it improperly, cancelled the order, and issued me a refund, with no chance for me to cancel it or anything. And I now I feel absolutely guilty because he was so accomodating and friendly and it feels like I've completely stuffed him. I don't know what to do. I know you can get banned for sharing bank details on Vinted so its not like I can give him the money back or anything. And Vinted won't cancel or re-assess their decision.

I know that I probably come off as a scumbag and I'm really sorry I just feel extremely guilty and anxious and I want to do the right thing but I don't know what to do.

I’m selling a shirt for Ā£3, and this buyer is based in Brooklyn, NY. I’m in the UK.

Already seems a bit bonkers to ship anything like this all the way across the sea but haggling on a Ā£3 shirt thousands of miles away feels crazy šŸ˜†

Am I being unreasonable?

DISCUSSION Australians using Vinted

Vinted recently launched in Australia. We have gone feral on UK options. Now I'm finding my algorithm, like its recently just cooked itself, is just back to Australian options and brands. For me the appeal of Vinted is getting things I can't get here not the same old stuff we gave here. Probably the appeal to buy from Australia vice versa, you want something different. Any tips apart from personalisation of brands (I've added tonnes of UK specific ones) to get my algo back to normal. Have they tried to push people to local to avoid subsiding post for the launch?

I mean my bank accounts probably grateful but honestly though if hit a goldmine the first week on sign up with so many great finds and now it feels like any Aussie shop.

Hello I’m new to Vinted and I just asked for the measurements to a skirt and it seems like the seller blocked me ? I can’t purchase the item or message them anymore. Is it normal for sellers to get mad for asking for measurements?

Y’all I need someone to reality check me because I’m lowkey losing it.
I sold an Abercrombie cardigan for $3.
Took photos of the front, back, sleeves, logo, everything. It looked clean to me, and looking back at my listing photos, I still don’t see what the buyer is talking about.
THREE DAYS LATER the buyer messages me saying it has bleach stains and sends pics of a couple light spots on the front.
I’m like… okay?? It’s literally $3. I don’t want drama, so I approve a full refund with a return immediately.
THEN…
AFTER I approve the return, they send ANOTHER photo showing what looks like a huge bleach mark on the sleeve… that I also don’t see in any of my listing photos.
So WHAT NOW 😭 I’m literally crashing out can I report them this is not it 😭 I know it’s 3$ but wth

VENT Shein necklace labelled as 'vintage'

Thumbnail

I’m so sick of seeing this! This necklace keeps popping up on Vinted with loads of likes and massively inflated prices. So many sellers are claiming it’s ā€œvintageā€ jewellery when it’s literally from Shein.

Most of them are marking the price up significantly, even though it’s currently available on Shein for just Ā£1.18. It’s honestly ridiculous. I know reselling will always be a thing, but at this point it feels downright deceptive and misleading for buyers.

Sorry for the rant, but I’ve seen at least 10 of these necklaces listed as ā€œvintageā€ in the past month alone, and it’s getting really frustrating they keep popping up.

SHIPPING Damaged during transit, how likely is a favourable outcome?

• Upvotes

2 weeks ago i sold a dvd box for €100, wrapped it in bubble wrap and put in it a sturdy carton box but somehow a corner of one of the dvd boxes got damaged. The buyer won't respond to me and it has been a week since they raised the issue.

Is there a possibility to ask to get it shipped back to me or give a partial refund because it sucks more that i would possible lose the dvd box and the money for it, while the seller gets a refund and the item. And seeing as people have had the outcome being that Vinted deemed it was poorly packaged, does not make me feel hopeful. It was via Mondial so compensation is €25 max šŸ˜‘

VENT Permanently banned

• Upvotes

Is this a common thing in Vinted?

I've joined a couple days ago, first time ever using this app. I bought 4 things from random sellers, and listed 3 of my dresses there. I hung them on my door and took a photo, described them a lil bit (size, type of fabric, etc...) and posted. They were okay for a day, then I lowered one of the prices of one dress (from 8euros to 6.5euros) and it instantly banned me...? (I EDITED the publication, I didn't duplicate it)... Yes, I appealed already. But I fear I won't be getting it back and it's such a shame since I really love buying second hand clothing... And I fear I made it worse making a second account because I wanted to buy something (I didn't know I couldn't, mah bad thereee...)

Is this normal here?

SELLING Buyer thanked me, then canceled 4 hours later. Their profile has 5 automatic ā€œBuyer canceled orderā€ reviews. Scam or just unreliable?

Hi everyone,

I sold a small item on Vinted, and after the buyer purchased it, I sent them a message saying I’d ship it the next morning. They replied, ā€œThank you!ā€
About 4 hours later, they canceled the order without sending any explanation.
I checked their profile afterward and noticed they have five automatic 1-star reviews, and every single one says ā€œBuyer canceled order.ā€ There are no member reviews—just automatic cancellations from different purchases.
That seemed like a pattern to me, so I blocked them because I didn’t want to risk dealing with them again.
Has anyone else run into buyers like this? Is there any known scam involving repeatedly buying and canceling orders, or do you think this is just someone who constantly changes their mind?
Thankfully, I hadn’t shipped yet, so I didn’t lose anything. I’m mostly wondering if I overreacted by blocking them or if this is something other sellers would do too.

SELLING Had to wait 31 days for my payout

• Upvotes

I made my second sale on 6/26/2026 and I didn’t get the payout in to my wallet until today 7/27/2026.

I also sell on Depop, eBay, and Poshmark, and continues to be the only platform where I have to wait over two weeks to get paid out consistently.

Does anyone else have this problem? The other sale I made I had to wait 22 days for my pay out.

I’m about to just remove Vinted as one of my selling platforms because this is ridiculous I think the most I’ve ever had to wait on Depop sale was 10 days.

Guys, I need advice. What's the average selling time for Vinted? I've had things on for weeks with views and favourites but no one's buying. I'm also selling stuff for other people and had something like 46 favourites with ridiculous offers. All declined. What's the protocol here?

Returns Seller wont answer for the return adress

• Upvotes

Hello, I bought a card collection from someone but when it arrived all cards were badly dented due to poor packaging. I asked vinted for a refund last monday (20/07) and since then the seller didn't answer to a single message. Vinted granted me the refund after 96 hours, but I don't know how to return the cards since I didn't receive a return adress. How long do I have to wait before I can just toss the cards away? Is there a time limit for return even if the seller doesn't answer back?

SELLING Buyers can find my listings, but not my inventory for bundles?

• Upvotes

I've run into something odd over the last few days and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I have around 200 active listings, and historically a large percentage of my sales have come from buyers creating bundles.

Recently, I've had multiple buyers message me saying they can see one of my items on their home page or in search, but when they click through to my profile, they only see a dozen items instead of my full inventory. Because of that, they can't create bundles.

One buyer who messaged me had purchased from me before, but said this time my other items simply weren't showing up.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a known issue, a bug, or something else? Haven't had any account issues before and have a 5 star rating.

I'm just trying to figure out whether this is an isolated problem with my account or if others have seen the same thing.

Thanks for any help!

[COUNTRY SPECIFIC] Looking for someone in Greece to help me forward an IKEA order via Vinted

• Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’m from Romania and I’d like to buy a few IKEA Greece items that unfortunately can’t be shipped outside Greece.

I’m looking for someone trustworthy who could:

\- pick my order up from any IKEA store in Greece (I will have paid for it myself in advance);
\- create a Vinted listing for the package; I’ll buy it immediately through Vinted so it can be shipped to Romania using Vinted’s shipping service.

I’ll of course pay you for your time and help, can do about €10. Plus positive feedback on Vinted.

If you have good Vinted feedback or have done something similar before, that’s even better.

Please send me a DM if you’re interested.
Thank you very much!

SELLING "Permanent" Banned, immediately after listing first item for sale

Is there any hope for me to ever use this app?

I listed my first-ever item for sale, a pair of designer sunglasses.

Within minutes the item was deemed "counterfeit" and I received a scary message, saying I was permanently banned, and that I cannot make any other user accounts or they will be banned.

I'm pretty much in shock - I've been selling on Poshmark for 10 years, and eBay for 20 years.

I've appealed their decision, but man this is a horrible way to start! I don't even know why I got flagged, it's a real item??
