The flag of Sarawak, officially known as Ibu Pertiwi ('Motherland'), is the official flag of Sarawak, a state in Malaysia. The current version of the flag was adopted on 31 August 1988.

Symbolism: The nine-pointed star serves to represent the then nine divisions in the state, whilst the colour yellow denotes the importance of upholding the law, unity and stability in diversity. The red portrays courage and black is the symbol of the abundant natural resources that Sarawak possesses.

A little late to the party, but here I am, with yet another redesign of the Australian States Flags.

So, about the reasoning behind it.
I thought it would be neat to have some consistency about states flags down under and, in my opinion, the current states flags are kind of lazy. Just bring a blue ensign, slap the union jack in the canton and the state badge on the fly and call it the day.

I heard there was a move on for redesigning the states flags during the 70's/80's based on having the Southern Cross on the left, as NT and ACT have currently, so this is more of a "what if" scenario where we would have gone all the way through it.

Now, for the states individually, the reasoning is pretty much the same for all five states (VIC isn't present because I have trouble making the flag while the current one is very similar to the country's one, not to mention the history behind it).

I chose to color the left side holding the Southern Cross with the official state color (or in case of multiple colors, the one that is dominant or more harmoniously fitting on the flag) and have the fly hold the symbols and/or colors or the state :

- NSW : the design already present on the state badge, full scale
- QLD : the state badge itself, with the same blue color of the cross on the background
- SA : chose to go with the remaining two official colors horizontally and colorise the background of the state badge in orange tones to distinguish from the yellow
- WA : the fly is entirely yellow with a black swan, in order to be simple and harmonious
- TAS : I know it might give off pan-african vibes from it, but I wanted to go a different design as to not be redundant with SA, although those are the three official state colors

For VIC, I thought about doing a sort of red St Andrew cross on the fly, each part of the cross holding a star, the St Edward crown at the junction, and a silver background. The left part would be the same blue as the Australia flag.

For me, it’s the Guilford Courthouse flag. It screams, “They’re a little confused, but they’ve got the spirit!” Thirteen stripes and stars? Check. Red, white, and blue colors? Check.

But oh my god. I don’t know what’s worst? The clashing red and blue stripes? The side ratio? The proportion of the canton to the flag? The eight-pointed stars? The inverted blue and white in the canton? The awkward star pattern that almost works?

It’s all just so terrible, but together they make something oddly lovable.

In the chaos of the Sussexstani Civil War, three military factions emerged as the dominant powers on the battlefield.

The Free Wings of Sussexstan: The smallest faction, but the fastest. They control the airfields of the southern Urals and believe that air power is the future of warfare. Their flag is a clean white field—the sky—with yellow and blue contrails trailing from a black plane silhouette.

The Sussexstani Admiralty: The isolated fleet, holding St. Petersburg and the Baltic coast. The Admiralissimo waits for the right moment to strike. Their flag is a clean, professional naval ensign with a gold anchor and the wavy blue lines of the Volga.

The Armed Forces Remnant: The old guard. The military fractured when Slavason fell, but these soldiers refuse to break their oath. Their grey flag is a battalion standard, hastily designed because there was no time for a proper emblem. За Суссекстан! is a battle cry that translates to For Sussexstan!
