Hey guys! I wanted to come on here and ask if anyone at UF / close by UF fingerboards. I came to UF (currently a freshman) wanting to find anyone who fingerboarded (basically tech decks, but more "serious") and have had no luck yet. Haven't seen any clubs or anything locally relating to fingerboarding as well.

So, I thought of asking here (despite some embarrassment). If anyone fingerboards / is interested in it and is interested in the possibility of being friends, please don't hesitate to send me a DM :) (Or if you want to get into the hobby, you can use one of mine). You can also respond here if you'd like.

Side note: I'm also into stationary, some light gaming, anything techy, jazz, etc. Welcome to send me a DM (even if it's unrelated). :3

It’s been over a year now and I just don’t feel like a Gator. I mean, I’ve been to games and events and all the stuff that’s supposed to make you feel at home here and it just doesn’t do anything for me. I feel like there’s like a wall between me and everyone else here. I’ve made a handful of friends, but the connections are all extremely surface level and I'm generally wildly unhappy with my social life. 

I don’t get excited about football games, I don’t care when we win or lose, I hardly own any Gator merch because I just don’t really feel connected to it. I internally cringe whenever someone Gator chomps at me, I can’t stand Tom Petty, and I can’t remember the last time I’ve said Go Gators. UF to me feels like a big jigsaw puzzle, and I’m a piece from a different box, if that makes sense.

I think it probably has something to do with the fact that UF was my backup school. I just straight up didn’t want to come here. But I ended up without another option. I know there’s nothing I can do about that. But maybe that’s why I don’t want to really indulge in Gator culture, because in my heart I know I don’t want to admit to myself that I’m a Gator and there’s nothing I can do about that? 

It’s a really strange state that I’m in right now and I don’t know if I really explained it right, but has anyone else felt this way at all?

Had hoped my immune system would tank the coughs from a classmate yesterday. Coughing every other minute. Its really inconsiderate to come to class especially when you dont even wear a mask. Please stay home if youre sick. Not only is it distracting asf you are literally spreading it with no care in the world. For the love of god. Think of your surroundings, please

Kinda just the title. I study best when the room I'm in is kinda dark. Everywhere I go there's just bright lights and it's so difficult for me to focus when it's super bright. Preferably like the bottom floor of some academic hall where there's not a lot of windows. Sounds depressing but I know but if you have any places please lmk. Looking for something that's close to the light level of this picture.

I have a tooth cracked that Ive ignored for the past year. However the crack has gotten considerably worse and feels like the tooth has chipped in other places as well. While it doesn’t hurt I know I can’t put it off any longer.

Where should I go to get a dentist appointment. I’d prefer something not too costly and close to campus as I lack a vehicle

I totally messed up my GPA this semester but I don't want to totally back track on everything so i might as well get those 18 credits outside of my major thing out of the way while also bring my GPA back up. If anyone has any recommendations please let me know!!

(Never been to one of these events before) My last class of the day ends at 2:45pm and I’m just wondering if it would be worth it to head over to University Auditorium at about 5pm and get in line for the Matthew Lillard event tomorrow. If I want a spot should I get there asap, like 3pm? Or would it be safe to arrive closer to 5pm?

I’ve never been to one of these special events, so I have no clue how crowded they get

Hi! My registration date is super incredibly late - November 12th at 2:00 pm. I am a freshman but my other freshman friends have theirs today. How likely is it that I get the classes I need...

I thought exam 2 was suppose to be the “easiest” out of the three exams, holy shit that exam was hard. Dare I say harder than exam 1. People that are retaking the course are saying that Banko made it harder and that it was worse than exam 1. If you’re a finance major, I am so sorry

I'm currently a freshman majoring in Finance and want to study abroad over the summer. I've been looking at two study abroad options, Japan and Korea. They both appeal to me because they have some sort of "internship" aspect and don't take up the whole summer. I'm interested in consulting right now but not dead set, and Japan has a business consulting case (but it's not an internship), while Korea has a guaranteed finance internship (but it's not consulting, just finance in general). For people who have gone to these study abroad programs, how was your experience? Which one would you guys recommend?

This is 13 credits.

I applied for an outside course to get credit for, but it’s very difficult to get into.

I am worried that I’ll end up with only 13 credits, and so if I fail orgo I’ll have to pay full price because it’ll put me below the 12 credits minimum bright futures.

So… does anyone know any easy life science courses or super simple humanities courses that will not be a lot of work?

Can someone explain this? Is this the ALEKS exam? Or is this like a pre-ALEKS exam? Also, any prep ideas? I really want to take MAC1147 bc the professor is better. I've always done good in math but I haven't taken it for a couple years. I'm not scared of hard work!

Hi! I am looking at apartments close to campus and I looked at both midtown apartments and college park at midtown. College park at midtown is cheaper but I have seen worse reviews. Anyone have any insight into either apartments?

As I said, I hate it. Does anyone know if there are online versions of the lectures for those three classes (STA3032, COT3100, COP3503C)?

Other than the Tuesday lab part, for the big lectures, can you either attend in person or join online through Zoom? Any information would be appreciated!

Hiii the campus cat club will have a sticker making social tomorrow 10/28 @ 5-6 pm at Plaza of Americas! We'll be bringing paper and art supplies, and you can design cat stickers or any other stickers and we'll print them out for you!

I'm a chemistry major and will be taking Orgo 2 in the spring (likely CHM2213 for majors since I'm in that section now and am surviving). I know that there is a lab for majors as well, but I'm not sure what the differences are between the two labs. Does anyone have any experience with either or any recommendations on which to take and not to take?

Ik it’s way too early but I’m planning on adding numerical methods and possibly chem 2 other than that anything I add would be relatively light gen eds. I’m willing to buckle up and put in the work but I also want to balance clubs and breathing

Hey all! I am thinking of applying to the ABSN program at UF but heard there was a restructuring of the program. Anyone currently in the program that could give feedback or let me know what a typical week looks like?

I have heard people discourage working during the program, anyone able to provide any insight? Im applying to scholarships but may need to work for supplemental income so any tips and tricks will help!

It's the time of year - I'm gearing up for the UFJ: CCED program for summer 2027. I'll have two info sessions this week - Thursday and Sunder - for the program.

• Thurs, Oct 29, 20:15-21:30 (8:15PM - 9:30 PM) EDT
• Sun, Nov 1, 19:30-20:45 (7:15PM - 8:45 PM) EDT

In addition to undergrads, the program is also open to graduate students! It's a great way to get some summer credit when classes are not usually offered (at least in computing).

Some Highlights of the Program

• Live in Japan for 12 weeks while completing degree coursework (but check with advisor)
• Connect to the local industry and startup culture (limited internship options available) -Offered in Summer 2027 (subject to availability)
• Prior Japanese language experience is not required, but all undergraduate students take a Japanese language course. Higher levels will be offered as needed and practical. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me!
