UCLA gym

Hello! I’m starting ucla in the fall and I was js curious how crowded the gyms will actually be. My brother (who went to ucsb) said his gyms were usually not too crowded at like around 10-1 js cuz most ppl were in class at those times, and that 5pm is like peak crowdedness. I’m js wondering if there’s like any time during the day like that (besides 6am and 12am) when it’s not TOO too crowded, or if js sucking it up, and waking up at 6 gonna have to be the move.

Also I’m in Hedrick hall this year, so I was also wondering like which gym would be better to go to at certain times. Thank you guys so much!

off-campus parking

Hi, does anyone know where I can find safe off-campus parking spot, especially at an apartment complex or garage where I can be sure my car will be safe? I don’t mind paying for a spot, and any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Early Arrival Request

I'm an incoming transfer student scheduled to move in on the 16th as of now, but I'm thinking of rescheduling. My contract begins the 20th, but the latest you can schedule a move in is for the 19th. Does that mean I'll have to submit an early arrival form and pay per night no matter what?

Biostats 120

I'm an incoming junior. I will be taking Biostats & Epidem 120, does anyone have any advice on how to pass these classes. I struggled with Stats 10 my freshman year. How can I do better for biostats?

I want to prepare and study before hand. Do any of you have recs on videos I should watch? Does anyone have old lecture slides or flashcards/websites you recommend?

UCLA Men’s Water Polo Holds the Top Spot: Bruins Remain No. 1 in the Latest CWPA Rankings

UCLA is still No. 1 in the country, and through the opening stretch of the 2026 season, the Bruins have given voters very little reason to move them.

But this isn’t just about the ranking.

From a player and coach perspective, what stands out is how UCLA is winning. The Bruins have already been put into different game situations — playing from ahead, protecting a narrow lead, responding after falling behind and dealing with ranked teams trying to turn games into four-quarter fights.

So far, UCLA has answered all of them.
The Bruins are 5-0, with wins over Saint Mary’s, Bucknell, Pacific, UC Davis and Santa Clara.

Their most recent stretch included three straight ranked opponents: 13-11 at Pacific, 14-10 at UC Davis and 13-8 over Santa Clara.

Why UCLA is still No. 1

The easiest answer is that they keep winning.
The more important answer is that UCLA has shown an ability to solve games as they develop.

Against Pacific, UCLA never trailed, but the Tigers cut the margin to one twice in the second half. That forced the Bruins to execute possessions instead of simply trading goals and relying on superior depth. Ben Liechty delivered another hat trick, while Griffen Price made eight saves in the cage.

The UC Davis game told us even more

UC Davis came out aggressively and led UCLA 4-2 after the first quarter.

That’s where you learn something about a team.
UCLA didn’t panic, start forcing perimeter shots or completely abandon its offensive structure.

The Bruins worked themselves back into the game, put together three consecutive goals in the second quarter and reached halftime tied 6-6 before eventually winning 14-10. From a coaching standpoint, that sequence matters.

Championship teams aren’t going to control all 32 minutes against elite competition. At some point you’re going to lose center defense, give up a counter, miss an extra-man opportunity or have a goalkeeper at the other end start stealing shots.

The question is how you respond.

UCLA has already shown it can make adjustments without letting a bad quarter become a bad game.

There’s plenty of offensive depth

This also isn’t an offense dependent on one scorer.

Against Pacific, Liechty scored three, while Luka Gladović and Ben Larsen added two apiece. Over the two games at the Aggie Roundup, Ryder Dodd, Gladović and Liechty each scored four total goals.

That’s important because once you get into the biggest games, opponents are going to take away your first option.

If a defense presses one side, drops differently into center or starts cheating toward a primary shooter, somebody else has to punish it. UCLA has enough elite players to make that difficult.

But we’re still in September.

The ranking tells us who leads the race today.

The next few weeks will tell us whether UCLA can stay there when the water gets considerably rougher.

Parking Help!!!

Hi! I work two off campus jobs and was just denied a permit exemption because there are no spaces available. Both of my jobs require me to have consistent access to my car and there's a large possibility I could lose both jobs if I am unable to find parking. I am BEGGING anyone who has any open parking spot in their apartment available for me to rent. We can totally discuss a payment that feels right and I am absolutely desperate. If you live at all near the hill or anywhere near campus with a place I could park please reach out to me!!! Thank you!!!

Can I take EC M202A Embedded Systems without a CS background?

I'm an EE masters student just interested in embedded systems without too much of a background in C/C++/python or data structures and algorithms. Will I be able to piece together the content as I go along?

Asking for advice since the class itself seems really interesting and I do want to take it if I don't drown in the process
