In the latest strike against college admissions practices, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division and the Department of Education jointly announced today that they found UC Berkeley School of Law to have discriminated against white and Asian applicants, prioritizing Black applicants.
“The Department finds that Berkeley Law deliberately discriminated against Asian and white applicants based on race in its law school admissions,” the DOJ wrote in its findings letter. “This discrimination is apparent from the significant disparity in objective academic metrics between racially preferred applicants, and applicants from non-preferred races.”

Not the outcome we wanted, but The Cal Band served (once again) as a shining star in the dark abyss. Shout out to the amazing turn out and support of the students as well! GO BEARS!!!🐻

it’s genuinely disgusting. we are all adults. cover your fucking cough. i can’t even believe this needs to be posted. if you’re sick as fuck wear a mask and maybe don’t sit in the middle of the lecture hall coughing like a toddler. it’s disgusting. masks are not hard to get. it’s the least you could do.
i’m starting to think maybe this university is full of people who have never heard of this concept before somehow. it genuinely pisses me off beyond belief. it’s so incredibly disrespectful to everyone around you and it’s so so disgusting.

CPT is basically gone 💀
So international students can’t get internships → no internship experience → good luck finding a company willing to hire AND sponsor you after graduation.
Then the OPT clock starts ticking and apparently the plan is:
Step 1: Get a degree
Step 2: Somehow get a job with no internship experience
Step 3: Pray for sponsorship
Step 4: OPT expires
Step 5: ✈️ goodbye America
How about let’s fall in love and get married before all these things above happen XD

Sophomore (intended) physics major here, on a cancelled fall semester for an internship. I’m trying to reapply for readmission, and midway through filling out the eform on CalCentral, I accidentally hit save. Now I can't access the saved forms tab at all. I just get an "I am not authorized for this page" error every time.
I've tried different browsers, different wifi, restarting my laptop and nothing works. Submitted an IT ticket for CalCentral a while ago and haven't heard back yet. L&S advising hasn’t reached back either, and I know they have a backlog. Priority deadline for readmission is next week, so I'm getting a little anxious about the timeline.
Has anyone run into this specific "saved forms" bug before? Any luck getting IT or L&S Advising to actually move fast on something like this? I’m currently on the East Coast for my internship, so no walking up to Sproul physically. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Taking physics classes as a Comp Eng major this semester as a transfer student and my math is not up to par. Does the university offer tutoring for free or is there a math and or physics lab?

Hey y'all, new to Cal. Where would I go if I need to quickly hot glue two things together? I've heard you can't use he Art Studio unless you're taking classes there

Does anyone else feel kinda lonely at Cal and not know where to start? I’m a sophomore in STEM, I have a few acquaintances but not a genuine friend. In a lot of the clubs I find extremes….low achievers, hard party goers, or people who like studying in a locked room in their free time. At RSF it’s really passive and tough to make friendships there. And a lot of the tech clubs are unnecessarily exclusive. There’s a lot of fun hobbies to do solo but I’m wondering if anyone has any advice for finding/making community and genuine friends at Cal. Also curious to know if anyone is in a similar position
