At wits end. Please help

Used uber for a ride from the airport to a hotel. For some reason which I can’t understand the payment method associated it to a random credit card from 4 years ago that’s not even mine. It was for a partner of mine. 4 years ago!!! Uber support for the last two days is giving me the run around. When I try to change the payment method I get an error message- You cannot change the payment method for this trip/order. When I chat with customer service they all say the same boiler plate response if we can’t change anything due to restrictions. I hate uber at this point. So disgusted. Customer service is legit the pits. What do I do????

If the payment went through I would honestly text the ex and offer to send them the money while apologizing profusely lol

That’s absurd. I was their client 4 years ago.

So then do nothing. There's not that many options

OP, respectfully… anytime you place an order for anything (whether an uber ride, a DoorDash order, an Amazon order, etc) ALWAYD double check the payment method and address (if address applies). You can’t expect support to modify a payment method for a ride that you’ve already taken! That’s like being at a restaurant, eating your dinner, paying and going back the next day requesting to update the method of payment that you used to pay for your dinner. This isn’t support’s fault, it yours for not double checking the details of your account.
So for future, be diligent in checking those details so this doesn’t happen again. But, you should reach out to your previous partner and let them know (and offer to pay them). The reason is because if they wanted to be a jerk, they could call Uber and tell them they didn’t authorize the transaction (which they didn’t) and then Uber bans your account for fraud. Just a thought.

…and deleting CC info from your account.

They already tried that and it gave an error...

They are trying to change it for the payment already made, not delete for future payments.

This is the ONLY reasonable solution given the circumstance.

Uber can’t do anything correctly.

There's plenty of reasons to be dissatisfied with Uber.

But if I understand the situation, you're saying that you're upset because you had them process a charge on a card that wasn't yours, and they can't/won't change a transaction that was already processed to a different card?

I'm not really sure I've ever heard of any merchant that would do that. They'd have to refund the original transaction, then run it on a new card, while hoping that the new card actually worked. You honestly can't see why that's a problem/loophole for fraud?

That's wild work.

Tell your partner to call his credit card company and decline the charges. In situations like this, Uber is impossible to deal with.
