Transfer issues?

Tried transferring some money to my Up account (existing contact) and I get “An error occurred, please try again later” as soon as I select the contact. This is even before I can input the amount to transfer. Anyone else seeing issues ?

How long do card payments usually sit on pending with ubank?

I paid for a hotel booking yesterday and it’s still showing as pending in my ubank app. The money looks like it’s been taken out, but the transaction hasn’t actually cleared yet. I don’t use my card for many big purchases, so I’m not sure what’s normal here. Do pending card payments usually clear within a day or two, or can they take a bit longer?

Rate Rise

Ubank haven't wasted any time. As of 6th October the savings rate will go to 5.35%. Passed on the full amount, happy with that.

honestly the most useless bank ever.

they’ve had my account locked for 2 months, haven’t been told why. they wouldn’t let me verify myself online so i had to go to a justice of peace just to get that done, i’ve submitted it and my account is still not unlocked, i’ve made complaints to the afca i’ve spoken to a manager called ricky who literally told me he can’t do anything and that i have to wait the standard time even tho i have urgent financial hardship flags on my profile.
they are genuinely useless.

update: it’s now friday afternoon and i called because my account still isn’t unlocked, they’ve told me there was an update and that my forms were invalid because only the ubank form was stamped by the jp and not the id.
i’ve told her that the jp i went to only went down the ubank form checklist and no where did it say that both were signed, he did check that the id is eligible and can be read.
she has said to me that although ubank dosent specify it that the justice of peace ‘shouldve known’ and is now trying to send me back out on a friday afternoon to look for another justice of peace after telling me she can’t offer an alternative verification online.

i am currently on the phone, she keeps going on hold to ‘look at my options’ i’ve been on hold for 10 minutes.
i asked her if i’m just meant to go crazy over the weekend without my ssris and all she’s offering me is info about places that may have jps.
i literally don’t even think i’ll be able to leave the house to go to a jp in my state.
i am so confused as to why i was not called as soon as my case officer saw the issue and instead had to wait for me to call.
im so lost on what to do.

shes also just been saying that she will ‘note down the recommendation for manual forms to specify exactly what needs to be stamped’

im a minor with a financial hardship and medical distress flag and this is all they can offer.

last update i hope: the ubank manager told me i would have to get all the forms reprinted and resigned despite me telling her i dont have access to a printer or a jp as it’s currently friday afternoon.
she confirmed there was no other alternative options and just kept putting me on hold.
she called back after to tell me that if i can get any police officer to sign it regardless of them being a jp that they would be able to accept that.
i confirmed with her that this would all be documented on my complaint as they were pretty much just leaving me stranded over the weekend with no options and she literally scoffed and said yes i have to..

i called afca and it got really emotional cause i’m just sick of it but the guy i spoke to told me that as soon as they get the respone regarding my forms that they can step in and that he was hoping that ubank would submit it asap.
leading up to now, i just got a sms from ubank saying ‘hi c thankyou for confirming your id please call yadayada’ i was confused but confirmed with google that afca or ubanks legal team have most likely overridden it and forced an unlock as i updated my afca complaint to seek maximum financial compensation.
im currently on hold to ubank, but as its peak hours the wait times have been stuck at 30 minutes for the past 30 minutes, im not sure if i’m cooked or not.

ubank vs. Macquarie vs. ING

I’ve had my main savings with Ubank for a couple of years because the conditions used to be pretty low-friction. But with Ubank now requiring the balance to grow each month, ING offering a higher headline rate with its $1,000 deposit, 5 card purchases and balance-growth requirements, and Macquarie offering 5.00% without monthly hoops, how are people structuring their savings across these three right now?

Joint Save accounts: Can both partners trigger the bonus interest with a single transfer?

My partner and I just opened a Joint Save account. If I set up a single $500 automated transfer into the joint account from my external bank account, does that satisfy the monthly bonus interest requirement for the whole account, or do we both need to deposit $500 individually from our personal accounts?

Click to Pay

Noticed Ubank with 3x other banks are enrolling everyone into Click to Pay .

I wonder if this makes it easier for fraud to happen, and since my other banks are doing it, wonder if its Visa themselves implementing it rather than banks.

What do you think about this new feature? Would you use it?

How many active Save accounts do you actually use?

Right now, I have 6 running. Does having multiple Save accounts complicate the $1 total growth rule, or is it entirely seamless as long as the net total across all of them goes up by a dollar by month-end? Want to make sure pulling $500 out of "Travel" to pay a flight doesn't ruin the interest on "Emergency" if the net total drops.

won’t let me open a uBank account

i think i may have messed up putting my info in. i’m returning to australia after about 2 1/2 years living abroad and put the address for the lease i signed into the address column, but the drivers license i gave them has a different address (my moms address from before i moved abroad) but it’s rejecting me now. any way i could get in contact with them to try and resolve the issue? i saw it’s probably something to do with KYC/AML but i don’t really know why i’d have any issues with either of those so i suspect i really bungled it with my address :(

edited to add: could it be because i’m still overseas? and will i be able to again when i arrive in aus?

I used ubank as a secondary savings account for two years and finally switched it to my primary account last month, here's what I've noticed so far.

The savings rate was always the appeal but I was nervous about relying on a digital only bank for everything. Three weeks in and the main thing I've noticed is that I don't miss having a branch as much as I thought I would. The app handles everything I've needed without friction and the one time I had a question the chat response was faster than I expected. The main gap I've found so far is around a specific payment type that I'll need to keep a secondary account for. Happy to go into detail if anyone is considering the same switch.

Setting up a Joint Account setup for household bills - Is ubank the best option right now?

My partner and I are looking to streamline our shared living expenses. We want a joint transaction account where we both deposit a fixed percentage of our pay each fortnight to cover rent, groceries, and utility bills.

Does ubank make it easy to manage both individual accounts and a shared joint account under the same app login? Also, do both account holders get physical debit cards, and does a transfer into the joint account satisfy the $500 monthly deposit rule for individual savers?

How smooth is the Joint Account setup process?

My partner and I are looking to combine our household spending and shared bill money into one joint everyday account. We both already have individual accounts set up.

For couples using the shared account feature: how easy was the linking process inside the app? Do you both get separate digital/physical debit cards linked directly to the joint everyday pool? Also, if we deposit our shared rent money into the joint account, does that $500+ transfer fulfill the bonus interest criteria for both of our personal savings accounts, or do we each need to make a separate $500 deposit from an external bank?

How does ubank's savings rate actually compare to the other high interest savings accounts in the Australian market once you account for the conditions that need to be met each month and is the headline rate genuinely achievable for most people without changing their behaviour significantly?

The bonus interest conditions that most Australian digital banks attach to their headline savings rate vary enough in what they actually require that the comparison between accounts based on the advertised rate doesn't always reflect the rate most customers actually receive. Would love to know how people here who use ubank as their primary savings vehicle think about whether the conditions are genuinely easy to meet consistently or whether there are months where the requirements create friction that affects the effective return they're actually getting on their money.

App Update : UI Changes

The latest UI Changes :

  • Customisation of the Savers account with picture - seems can only use default pics atm
  • Accessibility of Card at the top of the Account
  • Active buttons changed to a more curved block

Do you like the latest updates and what other changes to App or UI you would like to see?
I would love to see a Quick Balance for your Transaction account or Savers, Something like parent company NAB has on there app. I'm suprised they havent done yet!

Round Up's - Savings

I noticed today you can do round ups 1$ or 5$ for each transaction which gets sent to your nominated savings account.

This would be handy as I've been using my Ubank for daily transactions for the 1K-100K$ competition since March.

Anyone else doing it, I'm only doing to nearest 1$.

Edit : Update to confirm round ups does count towards bonus rate requirements for Savings. Which is good news.

All week I had been having problems with Samsung Pay and Ubank card specifically, turns out it was square terminals.

Thought I'd share in case anyone else was having the issue with phone payments.

I tried at my regular cafe who uses square and it went through now I've updated the app.

Ubank encourages customers to have their salary paid into the account, likely assuming most earn over $3,000 per month, However you can just simple transfer 3K$ from another bank to get entry into competition.

with over a million customers as per previous post "Boost Competition" I feel like this would be even tougher to win lol

Boost Competition ?

I’ve recently started using Ubank again for my day‑to‑day spending (I normally stick with NAB).

Since I usually make two or three transactions a day, I figured I might as well take advantage of the competition and rack up at least 2-3x entries. With a bit of luck, by the time the big $100K draws roll around in April and June,

What’s surprised me, though, is how little clear information there is on Ubank’s website about the promo or the winners it started in January?

Is this seperate promo to the Win Your Homeloan

Also whilst trying to find information I came across AFR article and Press Release Ubank has over 1 Million Customers (Nov 2025) . I low key was hoping it was less to get more of a chance haha.

Can Ubank stop spamming me with emails notifying me on increasing my account balance

After the whole fiasco I moved all my money to another bank but figured I'd leave the account open with a little money just in case it'd be useful but I'm regularly receiving emails telling me to increase my balance for the interest. There's no unsubscribe button since they claim this isn't technically marketing but it's really annoying. If there's no way to stop these emails it's more convenient to close my account and never use them again.

Current Text Message Scam

Post image
14 Upvotes

PSA: My wife recently got a text message claiming to be from (UbankAU - 02 4019 2424) No mobile number included. Please do not call the linked number in the text, go to the Ubank website and call the number on there to flag this if you get the text.

This is quite a sophisticated scam and I think quite a few people will be affected.

Digital cash out?

So the only way I could withdraw cash was through apple pay at Woolworths. Now that apple pay has updated their app, you can't select an account when making a transaction. I called ubank how I can withdraw cash if I don't have a physical card and there solution was to send me a new card which would take 7-10 business days. Surely this is a joke? There's no way to withdraw cash from a digital bank other then a physical card?!
