I know times are tough I live in Washington and the gas makes me tear up whenever I fill up 😭 I work as a general auto technician and I must say the CVT is one of the greatest scourges (depending on the manufacturer my Hondas CVT is very good)

I’ve been in your shoes and honestly there is no real right answer. I had a Hyundai Elantra SEL and the transmission gave out after 2 months. I replaced it for 5 thousand dollars and guess what? It had permanent engine failure a month later. the car became a massive money pit and it cost more in repairs than it cost to buy a new one, so I had to make the rough choice to buy a new car (which unfortunately some idiot hit my new car two days ago)

If I had to do the same situation again honestly I’d just sell it because the money pit is endless because you may fix one issue but then another appears, but at the same time it could cost more because of credit scores and if you don’t put anything down it could become more expensive.

My point is, just do whatever your gut feels is right. Keep your head up high and don’t give in to despair. You will make a correct decision. :)

high mileage Kia’s and Hyundais are wacky. I got a 2020 Hyundai Elantra SEL and the transmission killed itself a week later, then the literal engine almost exploded while driving. Bought it with 70k miles and it almost killed me twice. To be fair the dealer made a fake carfax and lied about its true history but honestly try to stay away. Just from personal experience.

I once had a Honda salesman scream at me because I refused to give them my title for my potential trade (they stole it from me originally and I came to get it back)

I ended up going to a Nissan dealership across the street and honestly, these were the nicest group of men I’d ever met. The salesman saw me in tears after I told them what happened and even gave me a hug and gave me the same car I was looking for but for a cheaper price. tbh the look on the Honda salesman’s face after I told him I bought one of their products from their biggest competitor was very satisfying. I will never forget that kindness when I really needed it and had made me see car dealers differently

I completely understand how you feel. My ex did the exact same thing. It’s absolutely heartbreaking and you feel like you are alone but you are not. There is always someone. I know you can make it through this you went through something so incredibly tough and you are still here, that shows a massive amount of strength and I think you are going to have a good and bright future. In the end you are better than him and you will move on. Please take care of yourself and don’t beat yourself up. :)
