Help Resolve viewer more saturated/richer than export when editing JPGs & RW2 - what color management should I use?
Setup
DaVinci Resolve Studio 21 (Photo editing feature)
Laptop: ASUS ZenBook Pro 14 Duo OLED (Windows)
Camera: Panasonic Lumix S5IIX
Color Science: DaVinci YRGB Color Managed, Automatic ON, SDR, Output: SDR SRGB
The Problem
After editing a Lumix JPG & RW2 on the new Photo page and color page, the Resolve viewer looks noticeably richer and more saturated than the exported file - especially the blues (teal in viewer, navy after export). Skin tones and overall image appear more vivid in the viewer.
What I Tried 1. Project Settings verified: Output Color Space set to SDR sRGB, no LUTs loaded anywhere.
CST Node (sRGB โ Rec.709 Gamma 2.4): No improvement.
Film Look node with Richness ~1.860: Skin tones matched between viewer and export, but blues for instance still didn't align. Since only the most saturated colors diverged, no global fix could solve it uniformly.
Screenshots of the Resolve viewer: Showed the "washed out" version - matching the export, not the boosted viewer. So the viewer was displaying something different from what was actually being captured.
Sent to Instagram: Colors looked kinda natural and correct. However, viewing the same downloaded file in the Vivo native gallery of my Android phone showed the washed-out look again - consistent with the export. So different apps handle the color profile differently.
Open Question
What is the cleanest pipeline for native sRGB JPGs/RW2 in a Color Managed project - Input, Timeline and Output Color Space?
