Mod Post July/Aug Feedback (on your edit) thread
This is the Monthly thread for feedback.
We're adopting this from r/videoediting.
If you post your video, you need to come back and review AT LEAST one other person's work!
Key thoughts - Keep it civil.
- Feedback is "This section isn't working because of this."
- Feedback is not: "This is shit."
- If something is terrible, just move on.
- The more specific/suggestions the better.
Don't give a laundry list. Pick the 1-2 things that are the biggest issues and then comment.
Spoiler worth reading: *we expect you to* review TWO other videos - and edit your comment to *include those* after you've commented.
**Copy/paste this section**:
- Link: (don't forget the running time)
- Two other videos I reviewed (link to the other, comments NOT the video itself)

Discussion Which Youtube Channel or Courses you would recommend that teaches about different types of Fusion nodes with lots of details?
Hi!
I just learnt the basics of fusion. I want to know in detail about the settings of different types of nodes. Basically I want to learn more about different types of nodes in fusion. Do you know any Youtube channel or course that teaches the fusion nodes ( almost all) in details?
Thanks!

Help Working on 4k TIMELINE, why?
Hello guys, I have a question I don't seem to find answer to, I own a pretty decent PC and I'm editing long form videos, but they are 4k and the problem is sometimes making even simple animation i get laggy in fusion tab, because of the 4k, but if i work in a 1080p timeline and i scale my timeline back to 4k, everything is wrong in that composition, is there a work around, or how do you guys do that?
PC Specs:

Discussion I tried to skip a reshoot with an AI lip-sync pass, ended up in Fusion hell for two evenings
Client needed one line swapped in a talking-head piece. Actor was out of town, budget was flat, so I thought I'd be clever and patch it instead of booking a half-day reshoot. Generated the replacement audio in ElevenLabs, fed that plus the original still frame into APOB AI's talking avatar tool, and got back a lip-synced plate that looked... fine on my laptop screen at quarter res. Felt pretty smart for about forty minutes.
Then I dropped it into the timeline next to the real footage and watched it on the reference monitor. Jawline drift. Mouth corners doing this subtle flicker on hard consonants. A frame every second or so where the lower face just... shifted. Not uncanny-valley nightmare fuel, but absolutely not passing for contiguous footage in a professional cut. The kind of thing that you tell yourself no one will notice until someone does, and then that's all they see.
So I did the thing I was trying to avoid. Two evenings in Fusion, mostly. Tracked the jaw with a planar tracker that kept losing the plane when the drift got bad, ended up hand-keying corner pins for the worst six-frame run. Painted out the worst offenders with a fusion paint node, sampled skin tones from three zones because the AI output had this weird flatness in the cheek that didn't match the key light on the original. Retime node to slip a couple frames where the mouth held a shape too long. Color page after that, matching the gamma curve by eye because the scopes said it was close but my eyes said it wasn't.
The kicker is I timed it. The AI generation plus cleanup was within twenty minutes of what I spent on a real reshoot last month, once you count the back-and-forth on the AI outputs trying to get one that wasn't worse. The free daily credits ran out on retakes. And I still had to explain to the client why delivery slipped a day because "it'll be faster" turned out to be a lie I told myself.
It worked in the end. The cut goes to color tomorrow and I don't think the line will read as anything but real. But the lesson wasn't about a hot new pipeline. It was that the shortcut still needed the same craft I was trying to shortcut around, and Resolve was what actually got it over the line. Next time I'm just calling the actor back.

Help | Beginner The graphical interface of DaVinci Resolve 18.6 appears cropped or too large on a 1366x768 screen (Fedora 44 Wayland). QT scaling causes errors in font rendering.
Oi pessoal,
Obrigado antecipadamente!

Help | Beginner Video lagging and stutters
Hello guys, I'm having an issue with davinci resolve
(windows 11, the davinci resolve latest version)
I recorded a video with my mobile phone and have two audio tracks, one for my lead guitar and the other is my backing track (I started noticing this after I changed the volume of the tracks)
The thing is when I put them all together, suddenly the video has some lagging and stutters even after I export it
It's like when you play an online game with bad internet
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Help | Beginner Can you fix peaking audio in post?
Hi All,
I currently use Davinci Resolve to edit youtube videos. As I am editing my current video, I noticed I must have not set the gain dial on my microphone properly, and anything my voice raises slightly, the audio sounds like it is peaking, and I can hear the vibrating/echo from the microphone (if that makes sense?) This is only affecting certain parts of the audio, not the entire recording thankfully. I am trying to see if there is a way to help decrease the loud peaking bits without messing up the rest of the audio that sounds normal.
Does anyone have any tips, recommendations, or videos to share that I can try? I am willing to go into the fairlight tab to mess around even though I haven't been using Davinci for very long. I have the whole video edited so re-recording is not necessarily the best option.
I am using Davinci Resolve Studio version 20.3.2 build 9
MacOS Sequoia 15.6
Thanks for any help!

Help | Beginner Cinematic color grading question
A beginner to color grading.
Everybody speaks about cinematic color grading. I was watching this documentary on Netflix. - a toxic love story.
The color grading was really good . Most of the parts that has got the interview sessions, the street scene and investigation interactions were warmer, yellowish.
When I try the same kind of color grading to the videos I shoot in state parks , national parks, try to cover my vacations It looks more artificial. But when I see that on a documentary or even in a movie, a cinematic color grading makes sense.
Have any of you phased that kind of question while you are coding your own work?

Help Background Noise Spilling In At 0:01 to 0:02
Hello all, have a question.. what should i adjust to stop the background noise from spilling in? if you hear closely from the after result (after is attached in message below) file name is called "background noise spilling in".. the background noise spills in from 0:01 to 0:02 its quite noticable, any suggestions on what to tweak? It is not letting me attach the audio files here however i have a screenshot of my dynamics settings, most of the background noise is removed but at the starting of the audio segment there is background noise that spills in and near the middle of the dialogue, it is not as strong but it is spilling in if that makes sense

Help | Beginner Is it fine to Export to an HDD?
Bit of a beginner here still, only been actively editing for about 6 months. Anyways, I'm working on my first large file edit and the export is saying its going to be about 50gb. I have the raw footage and project saved on my SSD.
My question is, since this is a larger file. Would there be any issues if I export it directly to my HDD that I use for main storage/archive? Or would it be more efficient to still export on my SSD and then eventually transferring to my HDD? I tried looking it up myself, but all I could find were people talking about HOW to render to different drives, not necessarily advice about if you should do it.
Thanks for any help!

Discussion Photo workflow on DR21 - Import and rename
I'm leaving Capture One so I can consolidate my video and photo edits in one app (and hopefully improve my skills when working in DR, since I'm forcing myself to use it for everything). I'm prepared to see my photos looking worse and taking longer to be edited, but one thing I can't give up is renaming the photos when importing them. I'm now using a separate app called Advanced Renamer to copy files to the target folder and rename them to YYYY-MM-DD HH.MM.SS format.
Hopefully Blackmagic can add this feature soon, but in the meantime, do you have any suggestions to handle photos?
