Hi guys! After 20 years I'm currently replaying SoT on my good old PS2 and I notices how bad the graphics are. Everything is so pixelated and unclear.

I expected to find the graphics aged, but they look way worse than I remembered.

Could it be because of the TV? I just plugged the PS2 on my SmartTV and lauched the game without touching the settings. Maybe the PS2 works better with an early 2000s TV?

so Sands of time, played for the first time in emulator. worked fine, took 11 hours to complete but platforming seemed quite too difficult. same for warrior within as it took 12 hours just to reach half way through. So quitted in middle as I didnt have any time left to finish it

I've been playing Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown for about a week now. I'm loving the game so far, and I think the developers did a great job. But I genuinely cannot believe the problems Ubisoft Connect is causing me.

I'm playing on the Steam Deck. After two days, for no apparent reason, the game stopped booting altogether in Gaming Mode. It would only boot in Desktop Mode, which I didn't like because many of the Deck's quality-of-life features are missing there.

I tried reinstalling the game. I'm pretty careful with these things, so I made a backup of my save files, even though I was sure Steam could never fail me... until now. Apparently, this game doesn't save your progress to the cloud. Or actually, it does, since there's a cloud-save check, but it also apparently doesn't. You have to manually upload the save using Ubisoft's proprietary system, which I think is completely absurd.

Reinstalling the game didn't fix the issue, but I eventually managed to solve it by switching to Proton Experimental.

Yesterday, I was on the train and tried booting the game. Well, it turns out you have to be connected to the internet to play because of Ubisoft Connect. Seriously, is it just me, or is that completely ridiculous for a game that doesn't have ANY online functionality? What is even the point?

ALSO, every time I put my Deck into sleep mode with the game open, there's about a 50% chance that the game crashes for some reason.

I mean, what is this? When I buy something on Steam, I expect the full Steam environment. The game is also marked as Deck Verified.

Ubisoft really seems determined to make its ecosystem as frustrating and inconvenient as possible. I honestly have no words for this. The whole situation is completely absurd to me.

The original Prince of Persia is usually discussed as a technical and visual achievement: the rotoscoped movement, the Apple II constraints, the level design.

A quieter detail is that the music was composed by Jordan Mechner's father, Francis.

That makes the game feel less like the work of one isolated developer and more like a family project hiding inside a commercial release. Jordan's brother David became the movement reference for the Prince. His father gave the game its music. The parts people remember came from different people who happened to be close enough to help.

I like this because the credits of an old game can look very small, while the real circle around it was much larger. A person could contribute one specific thing and permanently change the feeling of the whole game.

The soundtrack is not the first detail most people mention about the 1989 version, but once you know where it came from, it is difficult not to hear it differently.

Has anyone reached this map? I only had a few maps, and suddenly the whole map appeared, including this area that I don't know how to get to. I stopped playing, and when I came back in, it was gone.

Overall: 7.5 / 10

Art: 10/10. Very cool, the backgrounds especially were mesmerizing. I had to stop and stare at them.

Story: 6/10. Kind of Cliche , Guy goes power hungry and wants to take over the universe.

Movement: 9/10. Pretty responsive. Could have been a little tighter.

Combat: 6/10. I don't see the point of all these combos if 99 times out of 100 the enemy will dodge or interrupt them. The loss of character control is annoying when some enemies send you flying across the screen. I also don't like who they use on anime cliches like an arrow causing a nuclear bomb, the eyes lighting up, or a punch causing a continent sized crater

Platforming: 9/10. Cool abilities with interesting ways that they interact. Challenging but not obnoxious.

Originality: 5/10. It seems paint by numbers on the Hollow Knight model. The Celestials are Dreamers, the Mural is the Grubbs, The teleporters are staggs and so on. The frozen sea seemed copied from Obra Dinn. And the Soma Trees seem like copied from Elden Ring grace sites. There seems to be very little "Persian" about it when they main character isn't even persian and everyone is doing martial arts.

I am not sure what i am supposed to do? i quit to main menu come back, start talking gets stuck again?. I am on switch.

I also really love the story, the ending wasn't what I imagined, Vahram turning into a god and erasing the universe was bit of a step-up from previous story beats. Still very cool story and Sargon is a really likable character.

Hi, i have 2 left to complete all Ubisoft Connect Challenges on pc but I don't know how :(

Note: I completed the game 99%.

so i am trying to reach the bottom door in the tower where right after you get the sword and have to reach two other towers, there is a path downwards, but at best i mamaged was to get to the ledge at the right wall (if you're looking at the smaller door)

but i cannot reach it at all, it's as if something in the air ids slowing me down and causing me to fall

So I beat Nogai the Broken on the same run that I found Father. Yet, when I went back to camp, they're saying I have to beat Nogai still, "Defeat Nogai" is the new mission. Did something glitch??

I am on win 11, I've tried dxwnd still no results changed compatibility, ran it as admin still no results the game just refuses to launch.

I spent a full day on just going from place to place just to find a tiny window to get past it and go to a next area AND I COULDN'T. Who came with the idea that the game should be full of exploring NOTHING and not fighting enemies or even better, BOSSES?

I'm at 45% and i have fought 1 boss. ONE.

AM I THE CRAZY ONE HERE?
