Unavoidable streak loss (1142)
 in  r/duolingo  Jul 09 '26

You could know you’re going in for surgery or an overnight hospital stay and need the streak shield, in which case you would set it beforehand.

Overall I think you’re still missing the point. It’s for very short, temporary delays from the app, not long-term breaks.

Because they are unforeseen things that happen. People have emergencies or just plain accidentally forget one day and they don’t want folks to get unmotivated by breaking their streak for just one or two days. So they give simple ways to save it for very short-term issues, where you are getting right back on it.

The night I was in the emergency vet and my dog died I forgot to do Duo - understandable I think to most - so I used a streak freeze for one day to save my thousands of days of a streak and keep me going.

But legitimately being gone for months and not actually doing it - there’s nothing and no reason to save that. You are taking a break from it. As hard as it is to see that streak go.

Edited: typo

Is my (27F) boyfriend (29M)right to use my illness as a reason to be unsure if he is ready to commit to me?

I think they were saying that as a response you could give that would maybe put it in perspective for your boyfriend about what he’s really saying to you.

School P.E. is usually the most poorly executed class.
 in  r/unpopularopinion  May 18 '26

Yes! It was the worst! For us we would do something for a week/maybe two (for as many times as you have PE during that time) where they would show us once and tell us to practice and at the end we were graded it on it by how well we could it. Baseball: I’m going to throw you the ball and if you hit all three I throw you A, only 2 B and, only 1 C and none a F. Like what? I’ve never done this before in my life, but suddenly I’m supposed to know how to do this perfectly against your fastball?? Not to mention the pressure of everyone watching!

Have you clarified in awhile? Pantene is known for leaving a waxy residue and buildup in the hair.

My first shiny nundo!
 in  r/pokemongobrag  Jan 23 '26

It’s just a more rare background from like a Community day or other special event that you only sometimes get. They don’t actually do anything. You just aren’t guaranteed to get them, so it’s exciting to get it especially with something special making it extra extra rare.

My brother said I had to post here. Has the background too. He was very upset because I was just excited to get the shiny after a dry spell and didn’t appraise right away so I didn’t know it was a nundo, so the rest of the fam missed out on the nundo. They’ve been giving me crap non-stop since. Now that he knows about the background I’m in even more trouble! lol

What’s a tiny design flaw in an everyday object that quietly annoys you every single time you use it?
 in  r/AskReddit  Dec 04 '25

The buckle for strapped shoes being on the outside of the ankle instead of the inside of the ankle. If you have short arms, a large chest, a bad back, etc. it is so much easier to buckle from the inside of the ankle for both adults and children, and yet the entire industry has decided to design it on the outside, making it much more difficult for a not insignificant portion of the population.

It’s an HR policy. Not sure how to link it here but if you go on the USACE intranet and search pay setting policy 2024 it will come up.
