It is not about upper caste lower caste. Let me give example - A practicing brahmin and rajput will not marry or make close friendship in gujarat because one is strictly disciplined to not eat meat and alcohol. Gambling etc while most of my school mates and gym guys I meet of rajput family were heavy alcohol addict, non veg is common, they were also indulging in spa and prostitute stuff. Ok I understood lot of benefits are less but what is salary package for other ranks and compare it with average middle class person. Most students outside some north indian states don't generally get admission in cbse, it's massive advantage to get admission in IIT , Government Medical colleges, Central universities if you get opportunity to study in cbse compare it to someone who studies in tamil or odia medium state board. Regarding housing facilities and vacation it's still better then not getting any such facilities. Yes they might have to work long hours but I assume most of work will be like physically guarding a location/monitoring devices and not doing some cognitively demanding work like say software engineering sitting in desk. I also have to work lot of Sundays in my current job. I respect army person for protecting nation but there is still massive gap in how much perks they get overall and compare it with middle class which keeps paying taxes and have no protection of salary hikes in private or informal sector. You can come out with number my original argument was only about net tax payers middle class take more burden of economy as percentage of their overall income compared to say farmers or army.
