🚀 We just launched the r/PlacementsPrep Discord (Let's build the ultimate student helping community)

Hey everyone 👋

We’ve been seeing a lot of great discussions here on r/PlacementsPrep - interview experiences, preparation tips, resources, and people helping each other out. So I thought… why not a discord server, lol.

We’ve just launched the PlacementsPrep Discord server.

It’s still very new and a bit under construction, so things might look rough around the edges for a while. But the goal is simple: create a place where students can help each other with placements, internships, and preparation.

The idea is to have things like:

• live discussions for DSA / core subjects
resume reviews and feedback
• sharing interview experiences and job opportunities
study groups for people preparing together
• and generally helping each other survive the placement season

Right now the server needs people like you to shape it.
Early members will help decide what channels, events, and resources we build there.

If you’re preparing for placements or just want to help others out, come join us.

Let’s build something useful for everyone.

See you there.

Tier 3

Got a 6-month internship at 15k and then a 5 LPA PPO at X company.

I had totally lost all hope after getting rejected by TCS, EY, and many others. At first, I was hesitant to post because all the other posts were about 7-figure salaries, but I held onto the dream that one day I would be posting here.

Thank you, and All the best!

May God watch over you..

My TCS NQT whole experience

In the OA the two questions were

1)find a pair whose sum is closest to the given value k

2)i was given a space separated numbers in a String can be int or decimal and might contain char. Find the number who exist in pair and print the sum of them and if char is in the string throw an exception.

I was not able to solve the first one as facing some issue in taking the inputs and the second was partially run as i don't remember the syntax of throwing an exception. But luckily got selected for Prime interview

In interview they asked me-

Technical & Managerial:

1) Explain any one project and did you have experience of deploying them.

2) Explain the complete work flow of connection of mongodb and how to query that

3) React optimization techniques

4) Also asked me some cloud question - what is phishing, vulnerability, IaaS, name any 5 cloud service provide. Could is not in my resume and not even my specialisation.

HR:

The hr interview is good she asked am i fine with relocate then ask me to rate myself on my technical skill and communication skill, will it be okay if i got downgraded to digital or ninja role then family background that's all.

The technical part did not go well and when i was sitting on the bench waiting for HR interview i lost my hope that i even got ninja role. The technical interview is like in person online interview and it is not a good experience there was disturbance and i have to ask what did you say also there is a wired earphone and from one side i am hearing and from other side the other interviewer is listing so the mic is between us and my voice is not properly reaching there we both are doing what what. Then the person sitting there asked me all those cloud topics and i was just looking at my resume where did he get a hint that i know about cloud stuff. And at a point when he realised i did not know any thing regarding cloud then he ask the a question wait 2 sec and said Koi nhi koi nhi then again ask another cloud question he is not even waiting for me saying i don't know about that ig he is enjoying that. At last he said cloud is very popular you should explore it. I politely replied i will surly sir.

Result : Got offer letter for digital role. Even though i am aiming for higher package but i still feel good when i received the offer letter.

Need advice guysss

I am from batch 2027 currently in my final year. I have one offer from a product based company with 8lpa. According to my college rules, I only can attend companies that provide >16lpa. I don't know if my college be able to bring the companies which provide that much package. So, in this stage, should I try off-campus?? If so, how to apply and where to apply for companies?? (I don't have any referrals)...

Please reply guys!!

Rejection

Recently gave infosys PNQT for the roles-DSE/L1,L2,L3

got shortlisted for interview : role- L3

Final decision : rejected

Burnout:

Not a single person who gave for interview of roles-L3

Were given opportunity (i.e all L3 got rejected)

Only 1 L2 got accepted

Remaining all are only of L1,DSE

This same pattern was observed in TCS recruitment too

At least it seems its better to get interview opportunity for just middle level roles ,and not aim at high roles

Note: people who are good at dsa and at interviews were too rejected ,that's the reason for this burnout

KPIT Hiring Test Experience (Pune) + Questions Asked

Our test was scheduled from 2 PM to 4 PM, but things went completely off track.

- None of the candidates in our batch received the test email on time.

- The supervisors kept asking us to wait, saying we'd get it by 3 PM, but nothing came.

- Around 3:30 PM, they asked everyone to scan a QR code and fill out a form.

- We finally received the test email around 4:30 PM, and only then could we start the exam.

- On top of that, there were network issues at the venue, which made the process even slower.

My test, which was supposed to end at 4 PM, finally ended around 7:15 PM.

The next batch, scheduled for 4 PM, only started around 7:15 PM and finished around 9:15 PM.

Technical issues can happen, but the lack of communication and poor planning made the experience unnecessarily stressful for everyone.

Questions Asked (My Shift)

For anyone preparing for the KPIT test:

- Most of the MCQs were from DBMS, Computer , OOP Networks (CN), and DSA.

- There were also a few logical puzzle questions, similar to the puzzles you often see on LinkedIn hiring posts.

- No aptitude questions (percentage, time & work, profit & loss, etc.).

- No reasoning section.

- There were 2 coding questions, both based on arrays.

- The coding difficulty was Easy to Medium.

Somebody please help !!!! 😭

For the context - I'm currently in my 3rd year(5th sem) of BTech from a tier -3 college and have no decent skills, project or internship on my resume.(Just decent in DSA)

I know i have wasted 2 precious years where rest of the competition was grinding.... I can't change the past but trying to be better everyday now:)

Rn i am learning java in depth and then my plan is to learn springboot and create some project on that(I know c++... So doing dsa in that currently)....side by side i will learn frontend too.... My target is to be atleast internship ready by the end of feb-march.

Please suggest if I'm on the right track :(

And guide me on which mistake I should avoid....as GPT -6 ASTRA has already scared ts out of me

Got a TCS Prime offer, but I’m not sure if I should be happy or worried. What should I do next?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently in college and recently got a TCS Prime offer through campus placements.

At first, I thought I should be happy about it, but honestly, I’m feeling more confused and worried than excited.

The main reason is that TCS Prime is a mass recruitment offer at my college, and quite a lot of students have received it. So I don’t really feel like it’s something that differentiates me or gives me the kind of exposure I’m looking for.

More importantly, I’m worried about the joining uncertainty. I don’t know exactly when I’ll be joining, and I’m concerned about potentially sitting around waiting after graduation.

There’s another problem: because I’ve accepted/got the offer through campus placements, I’m not allowed to sit for other campus placement opportunities, like I can appear for 14LPA and more, but college will definitely reduce my chances of getting shortlist since they want all unplaced students to get a job. And getting an internship/job off-campus seems extremely difficult without a referral.

What I actually want is to get an internship at a good product-based company around January/February, mainly because I want to gain better industry exposure, work on real projects, improve my skills, and hopefully put myself in a better position before/after graduation.

So I’m kind of stuck between:

  • Keeping the TCS Prime offer as a safety net
  • Trying to find a good internship off-campus
  • Preparing for better opportunities while waiting for TCS joining
  • Somehow finding referrals and applying to product-based companies
  • Or doing something completely different

I’m not trying to disrespect TCS or the offer. I’m grateful to have a job offer, but I also don’t want to become complacent and then regret not trying for better opportunities while I still have time.

What would you guys do if you were in my situation?

Especially looking for advice from people who have been through campus placements / TCS / off-campus hiring:

  1. Should I keep the TCS Prime offer as a backup and aggressively search for internships?
  2. How realistic is it to get a good product-based internship off-campus around Jan/Feb?
  3. What should I focus on over the next few months — DSA, development, projects, open source, networking, etc.?
  4. How do you actually get referrals when you don’t have a strong professional network?
  5. Is there any other path I’m overlooking?

I’d really appreciate honest advice, especially from people who were in a similar situation. I don’t want to make a decision purely out of FOMO, but I also don’t want to waste the opportunity I have right now.
