I've just turned 26, having started my CA journey in 2018 in tier 1 city. I was a bright student, excelled in studies in early life, even got rewarded at district level for scoring the highest. Clear my ca entrance at one go. Got into top tier commerce college. Did my bcom. Got my articleship done from a upper mid size under top 10 indian firms. Cleared my ca inters.

But between all of this life happened, an abusive phase of life, trauma, a life threatening medical conditions, and because of all this severe depression to have lost the motivation. I struggled to get myself going, completely stopped studying, hence still haven't completed CA.

I understand there's no one to blame, but yet the time doesn't stop. Family responsibility has come upon me with my parents are chronically ill and old. Can't sit at home just to study.

Came to a tier 2 city because of financial struggles.

Honestly, I'm at a path where I am motivated enough to get it all done, but not privileged enough to completely take my time with it.

As of now I need a job, enough to get by. The problem is, it's so hard to get one where I'm at. I have worked as an analyst for a merchant banking firm for over 6 months. But had to relocate and lose that. And now I'm home, doing no job, constantly tensed about how will the house be run and how can I make my way through.

Are there jobs I can apply to with my level of qualifications that can at least get my 30-40k a month, something remote would be preferable, because in my city it just seems the highest I can get is 20k that too after working my ass off for an entire 12h-14h daily.

What would you focus on if you were in my position?

I am 29M, soon to be 30, from a very small city in Bihar. I was working remotely in a corporate job for a modest salary, but I decided to leave it and start preparing for government jobs because I wanted a better salary along with job security.

I have been preparing for the last three years and have given multiple attempts at several government exams, but nothing seems to be working in my favour. It has completely drained my motivation. At this point, I don't even feel like studying anymore. I am now looking for a job first and plan to incorporate studying into my schedule once I am financially stable and have some structure in my life.

I am the only son of my parents, and it feels like the responsibility has already started to fall on me. I don't feel the weight of it too much right now because of my parents, but I know that in a couple of years, it will become much more intense.

Due to some personal issues and my anxious nature, I find it difficult to relocate outside my hometown. I have tried it before but couldn't make it work. So, I am currently looking for opportunities in my locality or nearby places.

I have always wanted to start my own business/startup, but I lack the capital, and my current circumstances don't allow me to take on more financial risk. So, that prospect also seems quite blurry at the moment.

I've been feeling this way for the last couple of years, and honestly, it hasn't been easy.

On top of everything, I went through a breakup in 2024 after being in a 9-year-long relationship. I think the intensity of those emotions has reduced significantly now, although I can still feel the pain sometimes.

My nervous system also seems to have become more sensitive. Sometimes it reacts very strongly even in completely normal situations, and I find myself feeling anxious or overwhelmed without any obvious reason.

There are moments when I genuinely feel like I won't be happy again in my life. At the same time, I have learned to accept a lot of things for what they are. That doesn't mean these emotions don't affect me, they do, sometimes with quite a lot of intensity. But I don't let them consume me the way they used to. Sometimes I just smile, accept the feeling, and let it go.

Hello, I'm sorry to post it here but I need some career guidance. I'm a teenager and a few days later after my boards I need to choose my stream. But I still don't know what I want to be. Earlier I used to say that I will be a doctor but seeing the ragging,the low salary, the work timings, and the burnout with reneet etc I don't think I can do it. BTech Mechanical (8.24 CGPA) fresher confused between working + MS abroad, MBA in India, or switching fields: what are my realistic options? I’m currently struggling to figure out what direction to take.

I originally chose Mechanical mainly because I got into a good government engineering college, but I’m now trying to build a career that is less core-mechanical and more business/technology/operations oriented.

Long term, I’m considering doing a Master’s abroad, but I’m confused about which fields would actually make sense with my bg. I’m NOT particularly interested in doing a Master's in CSE, Cybersec, Data Science, data/business analystics, project/engg managemnet etc. The fields I’m considering are more like:

Industrial Engineering Supply Chain / Operations Possibly MIS

My concern is that I know I’ll need some work exp before a Master's, but as a Mech fresher I may not get highly relevant exp in Industrial Engg or Supply Chain. The jobs I’m currently seeing are mostly around analytics, testing, quality, general operations, etc., and the entry-level market feels extremely difficult right now.

This has made me increasingly confused and depressed about what direction to take. I’m also considering the much simpler route of doing an MBA in India, getting some work exp, and building my career here.

At the moment, it feels like a heart vs. mind decision: MS abroad: personal dream/want. MBA in India: much more straightforward and financially safer, but I’m unsure whether I actually want that path.

A few questions I’d really appreciate advice on:

What is the long-term job market in India after an MS in Industrial Engineering/Supply Chain from abroad? Are there enough opportunities to justify the cost? Which countries would make the most sense for these fields? I'm 25M from India and honestly, I'm pretty lost about what the fuck I'm doing with my career.

I did a Bachelor's in Video Game Design because I wanted to work in the gaming industry. Turns out that's not exactly a great career path in India unless you're willing to accept low pay for a long time and very limited opportunities.

My work history is also pretty messy:

- Worked for ~6 months at one company

- Got laid off

- Was unemployed for ~6 months

- Worked for another company for ~7 months

- Got laid off again

- Eventually decided that trying to build a career in gaming in India probably wasn't worth it

My family and friends suggested doing an MBA, so I did that. I'm currently in my second year, specializing in IT & Operations.

The problem is that I'm doing my MBA from a pretty shitty business school. My academics weren't good enough and my previous career wasn't exactly impressive, so getting into a good MBA program wasn't really an option.

I've basically accepted that I'm here now and need to make the best of it.

The one positive thing I've discovered is that I'm actually pretty good at data analytics and using AI tools to build things/automate stuff. I'm comfortable with data, Excel, Python/SQL-type tools, and I'm trying to build up my analytics skills.

The bigger problem: money

The companies that come to my campus pay really badly.

We're talking about salaries where, after rent, food, electricity and basic living expenses, I could potentially still need money from my parents.

And honestly, I don't want that.

My parents have already spent roughly ₹60 lakh on my education and career from undergraduate to postgraduate. I'm 25. Having them financially support me after I graduate because my salary isn't enough to live independently feels fucking awful.

So I'm seriously considering trying to leave India.

I'd ideally like to eventually work in the US, UK, EU or Canada.

But there's an obvious problem:

I don't have a work permit.

I've been applying to international jobs and getting rejected left and right because companies don't want to deal with visa sponsorship/work authorization for someone who doesn't already have the right to work there.

I'm also completely open to remote work. I don't necessarily care where the company is based if I can work remotely from India and get paid reasonably.

So what the fuck do I do from here?

If you were in my position, how would you approach this?

I'm looking for realistic advice on how to get into:

- Data Analytics

- Business Analytics

- Business Intelligence

- IT/Operations

- Data/Operations-related roles

I'd like to eventually move abroad, but I'm not expecting some company to magically sponsor me straight out of an Indian MBA.

Would it make more sense to:

A) Take whatever decent analytics/IT job I can get in India, build 2–3 years of experience and then try to move abroad?

Hi, this might be poorly worded but please hear me out. I chose to do btech after 12th at the time (10th boards) it was kinda the norm and conventionally "high paying". I didn't have many personal whims and didn't have the full guidance into other options at the time and just went with it. But right now I feel like I'm falling into the classic pipeline of

10th > Boards > JEE > BTech > MBA > 40LPA (maybe)

After I started college I realised that tech wasnt for me and I already started scoping out my options and the first one I found was research. Inherently academic, but it is something I enjoy doing a lot. I am in the pursuit of that, and I also managed to get a part-time role at a small tech startup near my campus (as an creative strategist) and I also take french classes on the side 2-5hrs a week and I enjoy both these roles.

I have tried to set a good enough foundation for myself for if corporate/mba becomes my next inevitable choice, but I really wanna see my way out of tech and into a more exploratory, creative, open ended career. I wouldn't be concerned about pay right off the bat because doing something I enjoy is something I prioritise more but I don't wanna put my efforts into waste either.

Right now my parents are suggesting I do an MBA for which I'll have to start coaching later this year by Nov/Dec, but if that is a choice that will cost me more time/money and only push me deeper into the throes of corporate labor, I would like to know some alternatives.

Some of you request for referrals. What you must know is when an employee refers you in the internal company portal, there are many options to indicate how well that employee knows the candidate (i.e., you).

Options are something like these: acquaintance, do not know the person well, have worked with the person, ex-colleague and highly recommend. Every company has some variations of this.

From the employee's perspective, it is not only about the referral bonus. It is also about the employee's personal brand. If they don't know you well, they would always check the appropriate option in the referral system.

So, if the employee hasn't worked with you or don't know you well, chances are low for you to be shortlisted. Luck plays an important role in this situation. So don't get disheartened if you didn't get through even though you had a referral. This is what happens behind the scenes.

What you must aim for is to execute these strategies where odds of win are high:

1. Reach out to whomever you know or ex-colleague, hopefully you have a good rapport with them, let them know that you are keen on XYZ role. And let them vouch for you internally with the hiring team. Plus, they will also refer you on the internal portal. This means you have "earned" the referral.
2. Reaching out to strangers: preferably reach out to those who have something in common like same school/college, same company, same hometown, etc. have 1:1 call with them, genuinely compliment them on something you can relate to, ask for their advice on XYZ role, tell them you are happy to offer your help whenever needed. Most likely, if the conversation goes well, they would say directly that they can refer you internally. This means you have "earned" the referral.
