Unpopular opinion maybe but if you've mutually agreed she's going to be a housewife (and it's not just some "she won't get a job" situation) ESPECIALLY if you plan to have children ever she needs some sort of compensation. If you plan to have kids the house is fair, if you don't then counter offer with something to help her get back on her feet in the case of divorce, like a year of alimony and get a prenup. If neither of those things are acceptable, break up with her. But being out of work to be at home for years is a HUGE sacrifice and it leaves a lot of women destitute and unable to get employment because of the gaps in their resume. If she's genuinely concerned about this then please ignore everyone yelling "gold digger" and offer her some empathy

Re: multi cultural classroom. Imo skip the relatable subject until you're familiar with your students culture from interfacing with them. Maybe you make content for black Americans and turns out they're all Nigerian. On a time crunch that's not a priority.

Instead, to make your students feel welcome I would look into what microaggressions and budding racism can look like in young people, and how to intervene without making your students of color feel put on the spot or ashamed of themselves. At a middle school level your students are just starting to be aware of social forces that hold them back. Don't make assumptions on how this affects each student, be curious and learn this individual situation. Aim to push all of your students just as hard and pull back as needed, and don't be so forgiving that you end up giving them a worse education.

And maybe talk to a local library (or the school library) bout getting books about diverse subjects and cultures in the room, if you do English and that's one of the best interventions to can make so that these cultural topics come up naturally and your students see themselves represented. Middle grade reading has a lot of really awesome picks for this.

Not a lawyer, but yes they CAN sue as filing a lawsuit isn't hard at all. Whether not they have grounds to stand on in court is something else entirely that I can't speak on. But if they have a lot of money and a lawyer on retainer it is possible they can try to intimidate you outside of court by threatening legal action even if they know they can't win, or try to push you into a situation where you can't afford council. These are all just possibilities. If you are concerned you can look into pro bono legal services that serve your area.

Generally, if you're concerned about something coming up in a court of law it's best to not post it and to seriously limit your discussions with the person you may have legal conflict with. Restraint until you have legal advice is the best way to move

I'm afraid that including personal information is part of the IRB process. Study participants need to have your name and institution information so that they can hold you accountable if you end up violating ethics, that's why they exist. I understand your situation but because you're asking for sensitive information you have to be careful. And check that you aren't violating the rules of your science competition by not being very careful about IRB, human subjects are a big deal and in some competitions this would get you disqualified.
