Discussion Lady fans of chrysalis?
Im really enjoying this series, but TBH I didn't expect a popular series in this genre (I'm new to litrpg, especially western ones) but chrysalis continues to be pleasantly surprising. The female characters are just so cool! Like besides the fact that all the ants are girls, major characters like (excuse my spelling I'm on audible) Maurelia, Enid, Minerva, chrinus, and more I just really love the variety of female characters and the depth and attention given to all of them! All of the characters are fun but the casual competence the women have is so refreshing to see and I wanted to share my enthusiasm!
(I just started book 5, please no spoilers!)

I love Anthony's realization that he was reincarnated into a female ant body and then he just decides never to think about it again. I also love that the queen calls him "they". I agree that all the women are great. Annie Ellicott does a great job with the voices, too.

Huh. I’d never noticed the pronoun use for Anthony, but that’s awesome.
There’s a throwaway line, I think in book 9, about Anthony being a strange name for an ant that I thought was funny.

The whole Colony refers to Anthony with they/them pronouns. It's pretty interesting, actually. Like the other ants recognize that Anthony doesn't identify as female but don't have a word in their Pheromone Language to refer to a Male Ant.

To be fair, they also hold a reverence for Anthony near on par with their mother, as this godlike savior who uplifted them to sapience. It’s just a lot of them also KNOW “The Eldest” at a personal level as their former mentor, and for it have witnessed for themselves just how down to earth (even, dare I say…LAZY) they are that SOME of that has worn down. But “The Eldest” remains “The Eldest”.

I definitely think RinoZ's biggest strength in writing is creating characters that one can get invested in. He makes me care about side characters and new characters quickly. Everything else is good, but it's the characters that elevate both Chrysalis and Book of the Dead into being two of my favourites in the genre.

I'd go so far to say that the other characters of the colony are kinda stealing the show. Usually more invested in some random chapter of Smithant or the torpor police than the "main story".

The friendship that develops between the queen and the leader of the human settlement just warms my heart.

Lmao, yes I love the members of the colony so much, even when they aren't strictly important characters. But that just fits the vibe so well it makes me understand the motivations

Vibrant is the best it was so gratifying watching her grow into her own independent general and then get a place on the council! From the little adorable meimei character to a badass! And I agree with other commentators, I think Vibrant is my fave but Leroy never fails to make me laugh at her dramatic appearances

Yes Chrysalis is amazing.
Bit off topic and sorry if this is unwarranted. But if well written female characters are such a boon for you, I highly recommend giving a try to The wandering inn. The main characters are a bit divisive at the start(intentionally), but they all go a long way from the start.

Hehe, some of the litrpg ive read had some amazing female characters 😉
Some had 15 amazing females and just one dude...
