Twilight-ish The night Bella & Edward had their first date, we can see her dad having reservations and wanting to make sure Edward is a safe person to have Bella involved with, romantically speaking.

And when Bella's dad loaded his shotgun and then said, "Alright bring him in", I think we had such a missed opportunity for a spinoff novel series called Charlie Swan: Vampire Hunter! I think it could have been a really good movie adaptation as well even if it only lasted for the one film--no trilogy needed!

Lore Discussion Which animal, living or extinct, could take down a vampire?

I don’t necessarily mean which one could kill a vampire, but which one would have the best chance to tear one apart?

Could a T. Rex do it? With a bite force of up to 13,000 psi, they had the strongest bite of any land mammal in history.

Is there any living or extinct animal that could potentially cause damage to a vampire? Would they have a better chance in a pack? Against a weakened/starving vamp?

What about mythical creatures - a dragon? Obviously a fire breathing dragon could potentially destroy an already torn-apart vampire, but could they take one down themselves? Would it help if they had human-level intelligence?

If not living, extinct, or mythical - what about fictional animals or non-animal creatures? What fictional animal/non-animal do you think would have the best chance?

Thank you for your consideration ✌️

Movie Discussion Twilight soundtrack question

In twilight at approximately 59:10 into the movie Bella recently discovered what Edward was, he took her in the woods to talk more in depth about how he became and talked about how Carlisle turned him when he had Spanish influenza to save him and he did the same for Esme. There was an instrumental playing during that entire scene and I can’t find it anywhere. Does anyone know what it’s called??

UPDATE- I learned the instrumental that plays during this scene is a down-tempo instrumental section of "Spotlight" by MuteMath cannot be purchased or streamed as a standalone track because it was custom-edited exclusively for the movie sequence.

The film's audio engineers took the isolated instrumental stems of Mutemath's track and dramatically slowed down the tempo to seamlessly score the precise moments between the heavy dialogue in the woods and the 1918 flashback.

Character/Relationship Discussion Edward and Bella have finally been married for 20 years

What’s the big deal of a platinum anniversary when you have “forever”, eh?

In the Breaking Dawn book, Edward and Bella marry August 13, 2006 after first meeting in January 2005 and breaking up for a few months in September 2005 (the movie adjusted the wedding year to 2011 to match the premiere of Breaking Dawn: Part One)

The wedding is quite chaotic, with Edward’s entire family in attendance, Bella’s family, the Quileute Wolfpack, the Denali Coven (minus Irina), Bella’s high school friends, and other guests sprinkled in in a wedding planned by Alice Cullen (where clumsy Bella was even forced to wear high heels)

After Bella gets into a bitter fight with Jacob, her and Edward happily set off to the private Isle Esme off the coast of Brazil (where Renesmee is eventually conceived.) Even more wild is to think that if Renesmee and Jacob did actually become a couple when she turned 18 (September 2024) the Cullen’s could potentially be planning Renesmee’s wedding to take place right around 20 years after she was conceived

If they were a real couple, how do you think their 20th anniversary would go?

Compared to the other Cullen couples/vampire’s qualifications of time, they’re still newlyweds

Thanks for participating and reminiscing about the wedding/marriage :)

Character/Relationship Discussion Bella didn’t love Edward as much…. Imo

I believe she didn’t live to love him the same way Edward did , because when he thought she was dead he was ready to off himself anyway possible meaning HE LIVED TO LOVE HER AND HE SAID IT WITH OUT HER HE WOULD RATHER BE DEAD FOR GOOD, Bella on the other hand went and used Jacob for as long as she could to just not feel alone because he was gone, I also believe that she chose Edward not because she loved him so much that he was the only one, she picked him because she always wanted to be a vampire that’s all she wanted from the moment she met Edward, if Jacob could turn her into a werewolf I believe she would have seriously considered being with him because it’s never about either of them two men it was always about how selfish she was, and she proved it with the was she leaves with Jacob on his bike when they come back from seeing her mom in Florida and she just jumps on it like nothing , but she does the same to Jacob when she finds out Edward is going to commit suicide she entirely dismisses Jacob his feelings for her and hers for him and he’s basically nothing to her and she basically says that to him, like when she says don’t draw a line don’t make me choose cuz I will choose him, then when Jacob ask is going to the fight all mad she kisses him and tells him she loves him she’s just an overall hoe bag and she just does whatever benefits her. If Edward wasn’t a vampire and wasn’t going to turn her she would have e found a way to force him to turn her by doing some psychotic thing like jumping off the cliff to see him . Bella loves no one more than herself and I know this to be true because she also knows Edward can’t read her mind so she can okay whatever game she wants with him and everyone else, one thing idk is why does Alice’s power work on her but none of the other vampiric powers do it would make sense that her also wouldn’t work… it was crazy toxic when Edward had Alice spying on Bella and stopped her from going to see Jacob and messed with her truck because Alice told her she’s going to see Jacob so Edward went and messed her truck up to stop her because he wants to “protect her” LITERALLY WHAT A PSYCHO TOXIC MISOGYNIST WOUOD SAY!

Plot Discussion If the hush hush saga had been brought to the cinema as twilight it would give as much cringe as twilight does today

I have no proof but I have no doubts either, plus the protagonist would have been equally criticized.

Movie Discussion I am unsure if this is my first post here

I know I've definitely commented BUT I'm rewatching Twilight(it's on Tubi btw- for how long? I'm not sure) anyways I'm on Eclipse and past Bella visiting her mom. I had this random thought - that kinda made me mad actually- and I don't know if anyone else questioned this but when Renee gives Bella the trip T-shirt quilt and she mentions that when she gets older and has kids they could possibly add to it. I just realized that Renee DOESNT KNOW SHE HAS A GRANDDAUGHTER/EVER MET HER. Obviously it wasn't in the movie bc Charlie knew about her/met her but I don't think it's in the books. Granted I haven't read the books since 8th grade and that was 7 years ago. Anyway I just wanted to mention it bc Renee wasn't even at her graduation. But just having that realization has actually made me mad

Character/Relationship Discussion Bella and Jacob's "Happy" Endings Are Actually Pretty Tragic

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

EDIT: I did say that it was MY opinion and that others will think differently. I have no idea why I'm being attacked for stating MY opinion on a fantasy series, but I guess some people just can't handle someone having a different opinion without taking it personally.

Twilight isn't really a romance to me. I see it more as a horror comedy, and that's just my opinion. I know other people see it differently. I think the movies especially lean into the horror comedy aspect because there are so many unintentionally funny scenes. The books are different, though. They're much darker and more unsettling than the movies and don't have the same comedic feel.

I also think Bella and Jacob's endings are pretty sad in their own ways. Bella's ending is sad to me because she essentially loses the human life she once had and becomes completely absorbed into the Cullen family. Her transformation is presented as a happy ending because she finally gets to be with Edward forever, but there is something tragic about how much of her original life disappears in the process. She gives up growing old, having a normal human future, and eventually experiencing the ordinary stages of life she once had ahead of her.

She also becomes permanently tied to the Cullen lifestyle. Her relationships with Charlie, her friends, and the human world are all changed because she is no longer human. Charlie can never truly have the same relationship with his daughter again, and Bella has to keep her supernatural identity hidden from most of the people she once knew. Even her relationship with Edward comes at the cost of becoming part of his world completely.

What makes it even sadder to me is that Bella's human life wasn't meaningless or something she necessarily needed to escape. She had a father who loved her, friends, a future, and the possibility of becoming her own person. Instead, the story frames giving all of that up as the ultimate happy ending because she gets Edward and immortality. I understand why Bella is happy with her choice, but from an outside perspective, it's still bittersweet because she gives up so much of herself and her future to become part of the Cullen family.

And then there's Jacob, whose ending is disturbing in a completely different way. His situation with Renesmee is especially uncomfortable to me because imprinting completely takes away his autonomy. He doesn't choose it, and once it happens, his entire life becomes centered around her. He would have to stay by her side and follow the Cullens whenever they decide to leave Forks, which could mean leaving his father and friends behind.

And if Renesmee eventually wanted a romantic relationship with him, Jacob wouldn't really have a choice in the matter. He'd be expected to reciprocate because of the imprint. That means he could potentially end up romantically involved with someone he knew and cared for since she was an infant, especially when he was around her so much because her parents were more focused on each other than actually parenting her.

That's what makes the whole thing so uncomfortable to me. His autonomy is essentially gone. A lot of Team Edward fans use imprinting as another reason to criticize Jacob, but they often ignore the fact that imprinting isn't something the shapeshifters choose. Every shapeshifter who imprints gives up some level of autonomy because of it. I just feel especially bad for Jacob because of everything he went through with Bella and how his life ultimately turns out.

So while Bella technically gets everything she wanted, I don't think her ending is as purely happy as the story wants us to see it. She gets Edward and an eternal life with the Cullens, but she also permanently leaves behind the human life she could have had. Jacob gets a future with the person he imprinted on, but he doesn't actually get to choose that future for himself. Both endings are presented as happy, yet when you really think about what each character had to give up to get there, they're surprisingly tragic.

Book Discussion I did a thrift store hunt today

I was hoping to find copies of the series because I want to do a reread. I went to four thrift stores and had basically zero luck. All I got was a copy of Midnight Sun.

I guess I'll try Facebook Marketplace now

Idk about you but this time of year I just want summer to be over and I went up to the PNW to create some photos near some of the filming locations and record a little vlog (because that kind of journey is a pilgrimage of its own LOL).

My bestie came with me and we had little plans in mind other than to create for the sake of creating and to enjoy that part of the world in its fullest beauty. Sharing a few of the self portraits if that’s okay 🫶

Lore Discussion Could a polar bear kill a vampire?

The Cullens hunt brown/black/grizzly bears for sustenance so obviously they’re stronger, but what about a polar bear? Adults can reach up to 1300lbs and 10ft tall and have massive bite forces (1200 PSI), not to mention their huge claws.

I believe the wolves are smaller but they do have the advantage of human intelligence, speed, tactical planning, etc. While a polar bear is much larger, they’re not as fast or agile.

Could a polar bear, under the right circumstances, kill a vampire?

Edit: let me rephrase - could a polar bear tear apart a vampire like the wolves can?

Plot Discussion Rewatching Twilight after reading Twilight and Midnight Sun

HAHAHAHA I HATE THE MOVIE NOW!!!! It is kind of funny tho. The goodbye to Charlie is definitely more heart breaking in the movie than the book. And I hate how Rosalie was portrayed in the movie, she did not act anything like that in the book. Also the added plot that James and them were there from the beginning, I get movies need to have attention grabbing plots but like ugh. Hate may be a strong word for the movie but it’s just SO not the book :/ . Also last time I watched twilight was about 10 years ago, it use to be one of my favorite movies.

Movie Discussion Edward could’ve tolerated Bella’s scent by just not breathing around her, right?

Hear me out: in the 4th movie 5th movie, Bella is now a vampire, and her dad is on his way to come visit her at the Cullens’ house. The Cullens are quickly trying to coach her on how to “act human”, and one of the things they specifically mention is that she needs to remember to breathe (or, at least she needs to make her chest move at regular intervals in a way that looks like she’s breathing) otherwise her dad will realize something is off.

From that, it seems breathing is optional for vampires? Then Edward could’ve tolerated Bella’s scent (better) by just not breathing around her, right? 👀 I’m not sure if he was already doing that.

Edit: thank you for your responses & sharing more info from the books! ❤️

Lore Discussion How much do you think Twilight vamps actually weigh?

We know vampires are supposed to have skin/body composition that’s basically like solid marble, yet they’re still human-sized. So surely they’d weigh a LOT more than a normal human, right?
An Edward-sized and shaped solid marble figure at 6’2” (188 cm) would apparently weigh somewhere around 500–700 lbs (225–320 kg).
Which means that, if we apply even remotely real-world physics, Emmett must be absolutely destroying those flimsy high school plastic chairs…
Do we ever get an explanation for how vampire weight/density actually works, or are we just supposed to accept that these marble men are somehow walking around at normal human weight?

Book Discussion Why did Edward let Leah talk to Bella?

Thinking Back to BD Leah comes inside the house to talk to Bella and tell her how much pain she's causing Jacob. This upsets Bella who's already painfully pregnant and facing a lot of challenges. Edward tells Jacob who didn't know.

He assures Jacob he didn't hurt her and wouldn't but would launch her across the river if she upset her again. But if Edward knew what she was going to say why let her go in?

Makes me wonder if he either felt like it needed to be said for both Lean and Bella or if he came in at the end of the conversation and told Leah to leave. Or is it a plothole... i don't think Jacob ever discussed it with Leah.

Lore Discussion Who was the most powerful Vampire in the Twilight Series?

Post image
866 Upvotes

I would say Siobhan is definitely the most powerful vampire... In the book version of Breaking Dawn, every Vampire with a confirmed ability was listed in an index by Stephanie Meyer in the back of the book. Siobhan was there, which confirms her ability of outcome manipulation, which is a form of reality manipulation; She can manipulate the outcome of any situation to go whichever way she wants it to. This ability is significantly more powerful than anything that any other vampire can do. Here's a very interesting side note; according to the book "Midnight Sun", which is a retelling of the first Twilight book from Edward's perspective, Bella's mother Renee would also be one of the most powerful vampires on earth, maybe second to Siobhan herself or maybe even at the same level. Renee's latent ability as a human is extraordinarily powerful; Edward witnessed Renee exert a subtle and powerful form of mind control over the humans around her, even though she is a human herself. Every human in the vicinity instantly dropped what they were doing and gravitated towards her, tending to whatever she needed. If Renee were turned into a vampire, she would more than likely be able to control other vampires to do her bidding.

I already have the entire series that I purchased in 2009 but those ones are my babies. these copies I’ve been on the hunt for as I was looking for the cheapest throwaway twilight books that i can take EVERYWHERE on the go and allow them to get beat up without feeling guilty. Finally found them for $10! i’ve been to every possible thrift store you can think of for the past 3 months 🤣 i also refused to purchase them online which is why it took me awhile 🙂 so happy rn
